How Important is a character import and/or Morrigan Romance to the plot of DA:2?

 Hi Guys,

I recently finished a DA:O game with all the DLC. However, for some reason the import was buggy and it did not transfer my romance with Morrigan. (imagine my anger at the end of Witch Hunt when I noticed!).

I got DA:2, but was curious how important importing your DA:O character is to the plot. Will I apprieciate the refrences if I bring my character over? Is the Morrigan romance (and the possibility of the GW following her through the portal in Witch Hunt) a factor?

In addition, do any of the pre-made character histories have a romance attached to them? I'd be willing to lose a little character customization if my key plot points (like the romance) carry on.

Finally, what are your guys thoughts on a DA:3 import? My hope is that when (if?) DA:3 comes out it will be on next-gen consoles, and will hence not be able to import our old saves. Perhaps they'll include a background creator/editor or a long conversation (a'la KOTOR2) to help build what happened in the game before.

Thanks!

you don't bring your character over , it's a new story with a new character, none of your romances matter then, you got some cameos (3 as far as i saw and not very revelent) but that's it, and i'm not even sure it has something to do with your dao files, one does but i'm not gonna spoil and once again it doesn't change any thing and only last 1 minute or 2 (remember when allistair(depending your choice in dao) come and say hi in da awakening, that's as far as it get in da2

i guess da3 will be on this consoles gen, and according how it succes we might get a 4th one on the next gen, people can excuse one time the da2 debacle (my opinion, but from the look of it shared by many) but if da3 fails, then i guess the franchise will die

DA2 is not a sequel to DAO.

The import opens up the possibility of a few small sidequests, but nothing that alters the main plot in any significant way, as DA2 focusses on a new issue, and much of what occured in DA:O is not dirfectly relevant.

It's hard to tell you anything else without spoilers, and this is a no-spoiler forum.

There are also three presets that you can use instead of importing. These cover some of the possible plotlines in DAO.

Do the presets cover any romance options?

Right now, what I'm most worried about is DA:3. I realise DA:2 isn't too related to DA:O, but my guess is the import process will be DA:O -> DA:2 -> DA:3. Hence I want the right stuff in my DA:2 import for DA:3.

You can use this program to make a savegame for you. It has a menu for the major events in DA:O and you can even do some impossible situations: http://dragonage.nex...s.com/mods/2251

No, they don't cover any romance options.

Read this.

If you played DAA and import a save where you took Nathaniel with you (so he lived), you do get a fun sidequest from that in DA2 Act 3. That, in addition to the Anders and Justice background is the most you'll get out of the imports. There are also a couple of cameos, yes, but they are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

That said, I do suggest you keep your import chain connected for DA3, since we don't know what choices will be relevant, even if they are just for random dialogue points, cameos, or small sidequests, rather than big plots.

Also, DA2 is a much shorter game. If you want to have the "right" choices for your personal canon, I suggest playing through it once for the story aspect with no spoilers, then again to get things aligned the way you want for an import into DA3.
