The quarians have to get over it.

That may sound harsh, but their swan song has gone on long enough. Infact, a lot of species need to get over themselves but the quarians are the worst.

The homeworld. What the hell would winning it achieve? They would not get superpowers, or have their immune systems fixed, they spent too long lamenting over their 'lost' homeworld that they lost due to their own ignorance and fear.

Yep, and James, Shepard and Hackett should shut up about taking back Earth, Garrus should just accept that everyone on Palaven is reaper goo, and Liara should get over Thessia.  They need to accept their fate and not put all their hopes in a desperate attempt to defeat their enemy with a countermeasure tailored to their enemy.

Agreed. My Shepard should be concerned about the whole galaxy, not one planet she wasn't even born on. Bioware failed with writing yet again.

And those aren't good examples. The quarians got their asses kicked off their planet due to their own stupidity and fear. Earth, Thessia and Palaven suffered an unprovoked attack. They are more akin to the geth, fighting to defend themselves.

Need I remind you of a certain "dismissal" of a certain "claim" that happene for two years despite all the evidence to the contrary?  All because they were too stupid and fearful to admit the reapers were real.

Quarians followed orders ... given by Quarians. We understand the concept. We do not agree that just following orders absolves you of all blame. If someone higher ranking ordered you to murder a baby would you  do it? Because that's what it amounts to .. murduring thousands of infant minds.

The Geth on the other hand showed admirable restraint throught the whole ordeal.

Well, that also applies to the geth themselves. Was it Legion who mentioned the geth used chemical weapons against the quarians in the war? So the geth have plenty of innocents on their hands too; murdering hundreds of thousands of infant "minds" (babies and children) in a slightly different context.

The geth are also platforms, with the 'conciousness' software is stored elsewhere. Destroying a platform may not always be the equivalent of killing a person entirely because the software can be returned to the geth servers (if they haven't been destroyed of course.)

The quarians freaked out for various reasons (mind you the ME1 geth/quarian story was presented differently than how it evolved in ME2 and 3) and made terrible choices, and the geth react (justifiable) and kill presumably billions across multiple worlds in response, then go into a violent seclusion.

My point, is that people insist on seeing the conflict as written as a black vs white thing when it's entirely grey. I'm not sure why anyone wants to pick a 'good' side in this fictional conflict, and to damn the other side to destruction in judgement because both groups made 'damning' mistakes and both admit it.

The choice of who dies on Rannoch shouldn't be tied to the choices of either group at all.

You certainly have a point with that.

True, both did horrible things to each other, but the quarians struck first. If they had simply remained calm in all likelyhood, none of this would have happened. The geth didn't react at first while being attacked until they finally retaliated. Yes the geth killed any quarian after the sympathized got killed by fellow quarians, they couldn't comprehend the difference in threat between adult and child. To them, it was quarians attacking them and the geth wanted to live. But the geth, in the end, let the quarians flee. While it is true they stopped persuing the quarians due to not understanding what their choice to kill all the quarians, it still stand the geth spared the quarians extinction, while the quarians would have had no such mercy on the geth if they hadn't reacted.

EDIT: Proof reading, what is it.

Well, not all groups dismissed the Reaper warning (such as the STG, Cerberus), the council got the whatfore with their attitudes and subsequence attacks on their planets.

But still, we didn't fly out to Dark Space and start a punch up with the Reapers. We are defending from an unprovoked attack.

My first playthrough I couldn't broker peace and I picked the Geth because of what I saw inside the collective. Its the Quarians own fault they get destroyed, like Joker says, "all they had to do was stop firing".

However, please note I played ME3 FIRST and then went back and got the other 2, so I can't say for sure how I would have reacted to the decision if I had played the first two games with the Geth as main antagonists.

Quarians didn't side with the Reapers. Geth did twice. There isn't really any thought required beyond that.

I may be wrong, but I think saying that the Geth sided with the Reapers is like saying that people who are Indoctrinated sided with the Reapers. Wasn't there Reaper code uploaded to the Geth in both situations?

No, they joined completely willingly.

Unguided children betrayed by their parents falling in with a bad crowd ... nope never seen that before =)

And be fair the second time the Quarians basically gave them no alternative.

People really don't pay attention do they. Saying the Geth sided with reapers twice. WOw, just wow.

Only the heretics sided with the reapers. That was only 5%-10% of the Geth. The second time, they were pushed to the brink of extinction. Shepard has been the only organic to cooperate with them since the Morning War. All others have always been hostile. With no allies to turn to and greatly reduced intelligence and faced with extinction, they turned to the only ones who were offering help. Once they accepted, they were under complete reaper control.

Saying the Geth deserve to die because the Heretics sided with the Reapers is like saying all Muslims deserve to die because of Al Qaeda. -_- I do't like making comparisons like these but in this case, I had too.

Also, consider the two outcomes of Priority: Rannoch.

If you side with the Quarians, everyone is like "YEAH, we did it. Yeah!" No remorse for an entire race being wiped out.

If you side with the Geth, Shepard looks extremely sad at the result. The Geth Prime shows more remorse at the destruction of the Quarians than they ever do.

The Geth didn't want the war. They don't want to kill anyone. They just want to be left alone.

No, Tali apologizes to Legion after she stabs him, and tells him he has a soul. Seems pretty remorseful.

Unless you're talking about Joker and Garrus and Kaidan and Javik, because yeah, they're all celebrating the geth being dead. It actually feels like there's a party on the Normandy, everyone's so happy; then of course EDI has to ruin the mood and be the party pooper with her whining. <_< Blew her away with red space magic though, so I had the last laugh in the end.

Yeah, only Tali and Shepard(But not if you take Renegade Interrupts and shoot him down). Meanwhile, a 'machine' shows more regret and sadness at wiping out a species than the others ever do.

If you wipe out the Geth, again, only a 'machine' shows disappointment and sadness at your decision.

Quarians. I'm sorry, i won't sacrifice a real, actual people to ensure continuous existence of a production line - that's just silly.

Besides, Admiral Gerrel was the only Quarian who tried to kill me over the course of 3 games - and even he not directly. Legion was the only Geth i've met who DIDN'T try to kill me. It's not even a choice worth agonizing over, imo.

In the situation in the game, I'd end up supporting the Geth. Because doing so puts the Quarians fate it their own hands.

Legion states that the Geth needs the Reaper upgrades to become fully sentient. This implies that they are still not fully sentient before they receive the Reaper upgrade, which means that at the point when Shepard makes his choice they only "semi sentient". With that in mind I will always save the Quarians as they are living sentient beings when the Geth only have the potential to be so.

Well at least it's not like he has a combat squad that at one point or another had two heads of state, last of an extinct species, and the most powerful information broker in the galaxy right?  I mean what are the odds of THAT happening?

XD Shep's just a random crap magnet.

Honestly that left a bad taste in my mouth. Shep can be all meh to the Geth blowing up but has to be all :( to the Quarians. Bleh. BLEH. If everyone else is allowed to be a callous douche why can't my Shep be one?

My Shep's just gonna stay single from now on.

What I would do is try to broker peace anyway. If Gerrel didn't listen, then Legion would finish the upload and the geth would kill the quarians. Hence, logically I would choose the geth by default.

Save the Geth if you can only choose one. Other that Tali the Quarians just become complete ****s in ME3, and all their problems are self-inflicted. The Geth end up being the most benevolent race we encounter in ME, and they seem like a better military asset.

On my first playthrough, when i was unable to broker peace, i took the Quarians, because those were my orders. Hackett said we need the quarians to run supply lines, so go get them. If we really are that strained in that field, then logically, choosing the geth is a bad choice, since they are actualy the worst fleet in the galaxy for making supply runs.

Sorry, that doesnt actualy have anything to do with morals, but that was my reasoning.

On the contrary! All geth ships be it transport, warfare, or mining usage, are all combat ready with armour and weapons (as opposed to the Quarian ships which are just Jerry-rigged) and wouldn't be all that... effective.

Anyways I'd choose the Geth, both for the morality of it (Them defending themselves agianst the xenophobic Quarians, and because they are the most powerful, non-reaper force in the galaxy (imo, but there are few others that rank up there with them).

Save Quarians. Always.

It's always shown as the Paragon option, but I don't see how choosing software over living creatures is considered Heroic.

Also, <3 Tali.

Whatever the quarians did in the past is irrelevent. The ones alive "today" are not responsible for that, any more than I'm willing to accept any responsibility whatsoever for whatever my great great great great grandparents might've done.

How responsible the geth around now are for what happened in the past is utterly impossible to determine. They are a continually changing mind so there are valid arguments either way.

In the current situation the geth, at least the ones in communication with each other, are acting as a concensus. The quarians certainly aren't. Killing the quarians results in vastly more innocent victims.

And quarians are too damned sexy to kill.

Benevolent my arse, maybe, did 99% of the Quarian population vanish into thin air? And would I deserve to die if my ancestor was a serial killer or something?

Vastly disagree. Don't find Quarians sexy at all actualy. Especially with their eeriely human like looks.
