That has to be a nuclear test. The Navy did a ton of them with old scrap ships like those. Nuclear reactions =/= chemical reactions. So, no.

Looks like one of the Bikini Atoll atom bomb tests. The atoll is still not safe for human habitation. Maybe Chuck Norris could go there on vacation.

^ That, and the fact that if the detonation was underwater you'd have to place a ship literally right above the bomb for it to get vaporized. Otherwise, they'll still look intact. Doesn't mean it won't still be all hell on the actual ship itself, or that any of the hypothetical enemy crew would've survived.

The only reason the Reapers invaded Earth was because Chuck Norris allowed them to land. He was bored and wanted something resembling a challenge. The Reapers looked like they'd put up a decent fight.
