Major Coats has to be one of the most random character's I've ever seen.

Just keeps staring at me.
Thinks he is so cool because he was in a CG trailer.

Yeah. The dude shows up at the last minute while Shepard did all the hardwork. Probably there to take all the credits.CINCTuchanka wrote...

Hey while you were getting drunk and ***ing aliens he was fighting Reapers every day for months and surviving.
I think the guys on Earth deserve more credit than Shepard when it comes to having huge dangling balls.

***ing aliens isn't as easy as you make it out to be.

For Shepard no.

Hell, they were so proud of their work they decided to skip consulting with other writers, as that would just meddle into their awesome and artistic ending.

He was in the trailers for the game... Didn't turn up in the entire game until the last 20 minutes wherein he did nothing but give generic lines. "You're a hero Shepard." "Move out!" "They're all dead!" which anyone around him could have said (In fact It's quite funny when replaying the ending to hear his lines and realize how literally over 90% of them could have been Anderson and just weren't...)
But yet a lot of the focus is on him. You have a one on one talk where he is nice to you. You bump into him as part of Hammer and he gets a lot of (generic) lines. They make it crystal clear that he survives no matter what (kinda odd that he didn't charge the beam) and then show that clip of him in all the endings brawling with a husk, which not matter what he survives (Even a low EMS Destruction Beam) and also displays him in the slides.
Then he has that whole "Sniping in Big Ben for 3 days" story which seems to be his entire character considering thats all we seem to know about him.
Just feels so weird. He's such a pointless nothing character that doesn't do anything...But yet he is in trailers, he has so much focus put on him at the end, no matter what he has to survive everything ever and they have to really show off to you that he is alive.
He comes across like he was a friend of the developers that they promised to put in the game or he won some kind of "Be in Mass Effect 3" contest or something.
Some people tell me that he might be relevant in future DLC but I really hope that he isn't. It's much more strangely amusing this way.
But still, just as big an enimga as the ending, let's salute Major Coats:
Edit:
I know it doesn't show him survive in Reject. So don't point that out. I wasn't really counting it. It would be hilarious if he did survive Reject though.
THANKYOU! thought i was the only one. someone asked in a poll who our least favorite character was in ME3, and i voted this guy without thinking twice.

How dare you insult anything pertaining to the last 20 minutes of the game. The part Hudon and Walters worked hardest the most.
Hell, they were so proud of their work they decided to skip consulting with other writers, as that would just meddle into their awesome and artistic ending.
But I like Coats...

My very first thought about him, as soon as I was sure it was the Big Ben guy.

His voice. This is how all specops should speak. Even Asari.
QFT. I liked his voice actor quite a bit. Wish he had more of a part to play. He had me from the trailer, when I still thought he sounded a bit like Sean Bean.

It was rather disappointing that he didn't but there IS DLC, it is very possible that he could play into it at some point.

Well, no wonder I liked him although I didn't place him as male Hawke. Awesome.
