like was it near completion ? because if so its an Awful waste ! i would have enjoyed it even though i did not enjoy vanilla Dragon Age 2 as much as Origins as with many people. If one of the fine devs sees this post , did you reuse some of the expansions assets like models, textures, voice files, etc for Dragon Age 3?.

They will be using some of the ideas in DA3, I believe I've read that somewhere.

I almost that they were QA testing parts of it, but there hasn't really been enough data to make a guess exactly where they were in production when it was cancelled.

There's no way of knowing.

I would've loved an expansion, but being as they'd already decided to cancel it, I wish they'd never brought it up. If they're going to incorporate ideas into the next game, then they should've waited until they were ready to discuss the next game in further detail. Don't mention that Exalted March was even a thing. Why bother? What purpose does the announcement serve, besides to disappoint?

"Hey, I was going to throw you an awesome surprise party with a giant cake shaped like a unicorn, and Sting was gonna parachute in to sing for you. But I changed my mind, now you get nothing."

Yes there is. There is the "asking" method. Like... oh hey! This thread!

I know Allen had said he was in the middle of performing testing to determine if import flags were being recognized correctly for outcomes in the Exalted March EP. Not sure what point of the development that would have been in, to be honest, but given the issues we saw with import flags in DA2, it could have possibly been midway-to-later in the process? After all, it has been over a year since DA2 came out. Any later and it would have been too far away from the release date to have any real impact.

And, possibly, that is why they stopped it altogether. They couldn't have it finished and be everything they wanted it to be within the right timeframe to be relevant anymore, so they scrapped it and are re-purposing its content for DA3. To which this guy says "good."

If you can't make something great in the time frame you give yourself, then its best to push back the timeline and alter your goals.

Between ME3 and TOR, I'm not surprised it was cancelled. Wasn't Awakening out not too long after DAO? I know it wasn't over a year. Then again, maybe it should have been closer to a year after. Could have been more polished, says the guy who enjoyed it.

At this point, I'm starting to think we'll not even see Dragon Age 3. I've just got a horrible gut feeling EA is going to scrap the whole series.

Hope I'm wrong.

DA3 wont be canned. Although if it bombs I fully expect us to never see another DA title.

As for Exalted March, we have no way of knowing how far into production they were for it.

Which would work if they seemed inclined to tell us, but they don't, so...

And most of the assets, to save money for the multiplayer mode and the commercials.

I'm still hoping against hope that this will see the light of day somehow. It's not just that it was more DA2. It was more story, too. Maybe a standalone DLC release like dead rising and Alan wake did. Doubtful, but hope springs eternal.

It was actually 4 days away from a public announcement and release date.

Aww man i hope they still could release it if that was the case Gibb-Shepard. That expansion would have cost them hundreds of thousands and their just dumping it. I wan't it. And i'd pay for it.

Gibb is just messing with you. If it was 4 days away from release, they would have released it. All the money had already been spent, it would be stupid to just throw it away.

It's a shame, but I remember reading the MotA review on Eurogamer and even though it got a great score the highest voted comment was like 'sorry Bioware, but I'm not going back to Dragon Age 2'.

The fact is, this would have released to a publicly hated game, a few months after The Witcher 2, shortly before Skyrim, I just can't see it having made much money.
