I think non-heteros are just a fact of live. I don't see a reason why people shouldn't have LIs that match their sexuality or come close to it. And because LIs are optional, one can simply skip or deny the offer. It's good that these options exists for the less common sexual orientations. It makes lots of people enjoy an optional part of the game. No need to make a fuzz about it.

Not wanting to be around gay people, not wanting people that are close to one having thoughts that could be considered gay etc. etc.

I think you need to educate yourself a lot more about homosexuality and bisexuality, because when you say things like "Miranda and Ashley are just not the types to be into women, can't explain why" you clearly show that you know almost NOTHING about the subject. Sexuality is not something you can just pick up on with your handy dandy "intuition", I hate to burst your bubble. The fact is whatever you think you know about the sexual proclivities of the people around you, I can guarantee you—you don't know the half of it. You assume too much.

You also really missed the point.

The game doesn't have an appearance check when deciding which PC can romance which LI.  There are appearance checks in real-life.  This lack of in-game appearance check is unrealistic but people seem fine with it while being opposed to removing gender checks b/c...they are unrealistic.

Then go look up the definition of 'hypocrite' and I think you're set.

Mass Effect romances don't even bother to reflect whether or not Shepard is against everything they stand for, and/or routinely berates them. Don't speak of realism. Nothing about them is realistic.

That only change the flags for the romance... with an hex editor... Listen to the dialogue... FEMSHEP is talking to Ashley, the lines were recorded and are in game... same with Gay romance for Kaidan... the resources are there.

Also, check datamines of ME2... there are recorded lines of Tali/Femshep romance as well

In a game that asks you to accept friendly space bugs, space frogs, space turtles, space jellyfish, and blue-skinned space babes, realism went out the door a long time ago.

If you can accept dating outside of your own species, then attitudes toward your own species and gender shouldn't seem particularly far fetched or unrealistic.

Yes, I am aware. The only reason why those lines were recorded by both Hale and Meer was because they read from the same script and it saved time sorting.
However, it's obviously still modded. So what's your point?
