I am truly an Army Of ONE Woman! Okay going!

You can have your personal preferences.  If you play a straight female Shepard, it's completely within your rights to think of Kaidan as only being attracted to females.  But when you ask the developers to take away the option for male Shepards to romance Kaidan, just because you don't enjoy that type of romance, you're saying that your tastes deserve to be catered to more than anyone else.  You may be a perfectly nice person, but it's selfish to want to take away enjoyment of a game from others just because you won't enjoy that content as much as they will.

And you restrict it because you're trying to create real characters, with things like traits, not mushy sex dolls to be used however the character sees fit.  The majority of people are straight, some people are gay, some are bi.  The characters you interact with should reflect this.

The majority of real life women don't date ugly dudes but the game doesn't reflect this.

I see plenty of real life women who date ugly dudes. I also don't see what sexuality has to do with appearance.

I see plenty of real life women who date women.

You also really missed the point.

The game doesn't have an appearance check when deciding which PC can romance which LI.  There are appearance checks in real-life.  This lack of in-game appearance check is unrealistic but people seem fine with it while being opposed to removing gender checks b/c...they are unrealistic.

Then go look up the definition of 'hypocrite' and I think you're set.

Because again, appearance has nothing to do with sexuality. A woman who gets to know a guy (or girl) they don't feel attracted to straight away can still end up dating that person because they find their personality attractive (unless the woman is a teenager or just incredibly shallow). Someone who defines themselves as a straight woman do not suddenly start dating other women because they're good-looking or have good personalities (this if ofc subjective).

Therefore I think this logic is a bit flawed.

Basically... what most of the posts I am reading are saying is that Mass Effect should not default to "heterosexual unless proven otherwise".

Personally I think they should default to asexual until the PC makes a choice through dialogue options or some other mechanic.

Personally, I think people need to be less possessive and learn to share their toys.

Personally think, if Bioware plan on writing deep and interesting characters people can relate to, then it's better if SOME of those characters actually have preferences like real people would.

There definitely should be s/s romances in the game, but not everyone should be bisexual. That's my opinion.

Oh, so the "bisexuals aren't deep/bisexuals aren't real" thing again.

Thats perfectly fine, as long as opportunity is equal across the board for everyone. 1 f/f, 1 m/m, and 1 f/m. There ya go, perfectly fine.

You know what? Fem shep doesn't need more bi options, she has enough lesbian choices.

I didn't say bisexual characters weren't real.

I'm saying if Bioware plan on writing these types of characters, they should establish their sexuality clearly when writing. Isabela being bisexual made sense, but not everyone is bisexual or should be. There should be gay characters, there should be bi (just not everyone) and there should be straight.

Not really. I like asari, but for those who don't, Samantha may well not be quite enough.

I don't see how that would be anymore "realistic."  Does everyone go around with their sexuality written on their forehead?  Should everyone have to make their sexuality blatantly obvious?  Wouldn't that be a little forced if every romanceable character had to slip in their preferences somewhere in the dialogue?

The BW writers are not trying to represent any one group.  They are providing the most amount of options to everyone, which was done in DA2 and more or less ME3.

Says you. She doesn't have a trilogy-spanning HUMAN f/f option though. That is an oversight I wish BioWare had addressed.

So yeah, get over your homophobia lady. You're not winning the Internets today.

I still think Bioware should be realistic and follow this:

Fem shep needs more straight options and not bi or lesbian and I am not saying that because I am homophobic, but compared to male shep her choices suck! I don't care if the content of Traynor or Allers is not so much, the vs didn't exactly get treated like royalty.

Gosh I am tired.... I have been discussing all day long....

The game should still be realistic to some point and no Ashley should stay straight!

If she wasn't straight and bi instead, would that make her a bad person?

I am really puzzled about this. It happened to me in real life. I met this great girl on which I had a crush. Turned out she was lesbian. I had no clue. And, boy, what a homophobe I was at the time. She thought I was important enough to explain me how things go in the real world. I am glad she did. That was more than 30 years ago. And we are still friends. I still blush when I think how stupid I was, because I must have hurt her back in those days.

Or you could just have  "hero sexual" LIs and make them apparently gay, straight or bi. That way Kelly could flirt with anyone openly, Samantha be openly interested in women and Ashley could be openly interested in men. But either gender Shepard can flirt with and romance them. Straight male Shepard players can then headcanon that Ashley is straight and Samantha fans can headcanon that she is gay and everyone could be happy unless they want to get whiny about some other player romancing them with another gender.

Yes, clearly you don't care. It makes me tempted to wonder why we should care in the other direction, but I will anyway.

That's a separate issue. OF COURSE FemShep also needs more f/m options too. No one is arguing otherwise. Especially since of her four f/m romances, one dies and one leaves her for another woman.

Lets not forget the small detail that Izzy acted Bi throughout the game. She pokes with either gender in the story. None of the others are actually Bi, they are player-sexual, they never go around and actually solicit a good time with anyone other than the player (in DA2).

No of course not, it wouldn't make her a bad person. Have you not read any of my posts? I am not a homophobic, I just don't want to date a bi man but I wouldn't mind a bi or gay friend.

It defines the character more.

No, they don't always. But not everyone is bisexual either.

They should do it naturally, if the character flirts or shows interest in the player depending on their gender. Or states who they've been with in the past, or reject the player depending on the gender. There are ways around it.

Wouldn't it be a little forced if every character was bisexual?

Agreed. And they should continue doing just that.

Anyway, I'm out. That's all I have to say on the matter atm.
