Odd, I play on PC as well and actually think people on Silver are generally pretty decent. Sure, sometimes you have to solo a wave or two, but that's fine and usually not too, too stressful. If we wipe it's usually for a silly reason like me forgetting that Geth troopers can execute you.

Gold, though... there are quite a few people that perhaps shouldn't be playing on Gold yet, but oh well. I know I wasn't quite ready the first couple of matches I played, but was lucky enough to get a team that didn't mind, so I try to return the favour.

i can only run gold with about 5 different builds, other than that, i somewhat struggle with it.

silver shouldn't be a problem, regardless of your team. you really don't even need to use cover in silver.

Silver isn't usually difficult because I don't need my team to do all that much work. So long as they can take maybe 50% of the aggro I can deal with the rest.

I don't mind losing once in a while on Silver. Since I'll win handily the majority of the time, a loss just tells me how bad our team was or that certain, unrecoverable mistakes were made. I'm not going to get upset in those cases--though, I might learn something--because clearly the team deserved it. Just go into the game with a realistic set of expectations (e.g., with your record, how often would you expect to lose in the future?). Losing is relatively painless if it is expected and if you did the best you could or just put forth a decent effort. Never feel entitled to win, and move on when you do lose.

She switched to the Mantis VI after you left.  Full Extraction, 3 Players, no Medigels used by anyone, vs Geth [Silver] on Firebase Giant.  :D
...It probably didn't help I was trying out a slightly unusual equip/weapon/character build at the time for that first one.  And yes, I can usually solo Silver.

Except lag, it can take a team down regardless of how good the three players ( other than the host is) it's happened to me although things in random have been very good lately, it doesn't take a lot of lag in the heat of battle to bring one to their knees.

Also we all have off games and perhaps off days, I think it's important that we do not let those games get to us, just relax and have fun, don't sweat a loss, it's just a game, but kick their $$$ next round:)

I always feel sad when a silver run fails. It's like one of those things that isn't supposed to happen. I'm not good enough to solo silver past the early waves, so I can't ever feel like I can guarantee a victory unless the team is semi-competent.

One ****er I played with kept intentionally downing himself right away. He seemed to be trying early on, but he kept downing himself, and he'd let himself bleed out. We failed the run, because the fourth guy left, so it was just me and one other guy most of the time. Hate when **** goes that way.

So yeah, I'll choose the newbie, even if it's an N7 1 on gold. :wizard:

I haven't done a solo match on bronze yet, but I still do pretty well on silver with randoms.

As long as they are willing to and are actually trying to complete the objectives with me, then I don't care what their loadout, character, or skill level is.

Basically, don't play above bronze unless you are prepared to solo. You should not have any expectation that your team will survive, because most of the time, they won't.

Every now and then, you find a team that works well together. And you think that's what's going to happen when you queue up. But it isn't. More than likely, you'll spend what little leisure time you have in your life feeling frustrated and aggravated.

I'm going to do one of two things going forward; I haven't decided yet. Either I will uninstall so that I won't be tempted, or I will start kicking a lot more and stop leaving lobbies when my kick votes fail. Force people to choose between the jerk and the noob with the Incisor I.

if you where good enough to solo silver you won't be here whining about silver. Maybe you should take your own advice and go back to bronze

I guess this depends on perspective.

I consider myself good enough to carry people on Silver, so I don't really mind playing with Noobs in Silver.

Now Gold is another matter all together...

If you're good enough to solo silver but are losing on silver with a team, then you are making some stupid decisions and obviously need to work on teamwork. That doesn't always mean reviving people when they are down, sometimes the smart decision is to just finish killing everything because reviving them might mean losing. I'm guilty of this myself, I'll be running in to revive someone and I'll be going "this is stupiiiid. I shouldn't be doing this lol..." If we then actually lose, then that's on me for being dumb, not on them for being downed.

Time of day is also important when doing random matches.

Late afternoon to early evening PST are the worst hours to play, imo.

I live in that time zone and I have noticed the quality of play really drops off past 9pm.

I don't mind noobs in silver it makes it fun.  The only issue I have right now is the constant disconnects from the server that keeps dropping me from games.  It doesn't matter what wave, though it does seem to happen more early in matches, I just get dropped without any kind of warning or lag.  This is what will kill the game for me if it continues to happen.

n00bz means that there are more people playing.  More people playing means more content, so I say bring on the n00bz!

Think I'm well pass the stage of being frustrated at bad players. If it fails, it fails.

I know many players play to win (the match). Just try and enjoy the matches the way you enjoy playing, OP.

I always enjoy shooting at stuff, so in a failed match, I just shoot, even at (enemy) corpses.

I agree! I truly enjoy playing MP and my enjoyment is not affected by noobs or pwning dicks with Falcons or Ramping Vanguards.  What I find really cool the public matches is to find a squad in Bronze (preferably those with mics)  scrimmage there for a round or two and then take on a Silver or Gold Challenge. It's gratifying meeting strangers, create consensus on strategy and meet the challenge.  :D

Balance changes make this game not fun.
Nerf herders make this game not fun.
Enemy buff herders make this game not fun.

It has been decided that sense fun is over powered BioWare is going to nerf fun into nothingness because fun is not allowed in multiplayer.

Nooby teammates? Make the game a hoot!

So BioWare nerf the noobs next? They make the game fun for me .....

You mean "since", not "sense". "Since" refers to a cause or time, whereas "sense" in this context is validity, logic, or comprehensibility.

For instance, I could write "Your assumptions about BioWare's motivation for balance changes doesn't make any sense, and it's also pretty far off-topic."

I take them all the time, join randoms often, it sharpens my skill and I offer suggestions, if they follow them great, if they don't they die, that simple.....vast majority of the time they follow as maybe no one bothered to give them basic instructions, this way they will pass it on to others and at some point the issues some have today will not be in the future.

I would like to think you have played with people as good or better than you, send a friend request, I did, works perfect, I play with them some and sometimes I just join whatever. What is really fun is to take an experienced friend into a game, assign one of the people you do not know to each of you.

On silver my extraction is 98%+, I play every day.

There are people in Bronze that belong in silver, I saw that yesterday using a level 1 Adept I had reset, I see people in silver that can do well in gold, some gold belong in bronze:)

The system itself is broken so we have to make the best of it, a new player can go camping to get the equipment up, then they feel they are qualified to play any level, the equipment is only a small part of being successful in a game.

I mean no offence whatsoever, if we are playing silver, we should be able to carry most teams, if not maybe we need more practise, god even if they do objectives or act as meat shields, they will learn and those who are proficient can get the job done, everybody wins and we get the credits we want.

Ditto!

Not everyone liked playing Gears horde on insane all the time. Silver is fine. It's not a turkey shoot like bronze, and it doesn't require finer motor skills like gold. Us older folk can handle silver just fine.

Two decent players should be able to clear silver. I agree. I've done it with a good player. But it all depends upon what tasks you get for wave 10.

I've had good teams and some really bad teams. And it seems like geth are the worst enemy -- hunters and pyros.

I play bronze and shouldn't even play there. I usually do a couple to warm up. But all that does is get me sloppy. So no more of that.

exactly. I added a new guy on my friends list and i was trying to caoch him (he was used to failing gold apparently) and i was trying to coach him with 2 randoms but after i got 2 more of my friends and he seen how we were playing maps and communicting he gave us a compliment on how he never played with anyone as organized as us and how easy gold can be when you play as a team and communicate. after that he started listening to suggestions and sticking with us and he played really good and then started asking about layouts and how to level powers up to do the most damage and we were all helping him.
