By the way. Do you happen to know what the fine is here in BSN for necrophilia? Just asking.

See my last quote before you laugh at me for posting in an old thread. I already got trolled for making a new post today when there was a prior post from 3 months ago. You can't have it both ways. If you have nothing constructive to add then there is no reason to post at all. iow, don't open the thread if your not interested.

Generally if you wish to make your case or add to something the general dead thread time is around 1-3 weeks approximate. You could have made a new thread of what you were asking, it's corteous to let the dead threads rest as most opinions will be old and not current enough.

There are rare threads that survive and are relevant for forever pretty much. Some good build threads are like that for example. I advice you to make a new thread. It's forum custom to mock necros like this.

If you aren't okay with carrying regularly, don't play PUGs.

I saw it. I was just commenting it.

About your post: I agree 100% with you. When I see a dude getting downed on Silver everytime, I just remember: I started this way. Why would I want him to be different?

Then ban me. Apparently it's also forum custom to mock people who make NEW threads that have 3 month old twin threads as well. I posted here because someone had the nerve to go after me for creating a new one. So I post in an old one.

:bandit:

PS love the Oblivion tag on that lol

No worries. Just tired of conficting instructions today. :crying:

It's too bad there aren't more people who see it that way. IMO if you want that noob to be better then it's best to help them along so they are better. Kicking new players only results in people never getting to that point where they can hold up on their own.

But... soloing on the later waves of Silver with all your consumables intact shouldn't be all that difficult. Surely a team of four people, incapable as that team may be, can get through Wave 6 of Silver without using a bunch of rockets and medigels. Right...?

Or maybe I'm overestimating the community. I can't remember the last time I failed a Silver run. Or if I ever did.

Granted, I'm a PS3 player, but rarely have an issue with silver public games. I see no problem with people trying it out - it's just silver after all. Everyone had been overmatched there at some point. If I think the team might be a little weak, I'll just approach it like it's gold, and play a little more cautiously.

Just gonna step right past the argument about necroing.

I'll say that I end up carrying about one in five of silver PUGs and while I can do it and am happy to help it stresses me right the hell out. Especially when the odds end up stacking 3 or more matches like that in a row.

I play to relax and have fun and dragging a pack of people who drool all over themselves kicking and screaming to glory is not my definition of fun.

We were all noobs once and that's fine but 3 of them at once is just painful.

You shoulda been there last night (XBOX)...  I'm not great, but the amount of stupidity and fail from the random groups was just appaling.  Whaddaya mean you can't arm wrestle a PRAETORIAN with a full sheild?  Sole survivor on many a match, with ZERO communication between any of the other players (likley on party chat talking to their mates about foozball).

I'm about instituting a number of matches completed BEFORE you can graduate to the next level.  At least some of these fools might learn through osmosis after 400 or so matches?

I'm curious, I think communication is the problem... Any of those matches have anybody talking, asking "what the hell am I doing wrong?"

An idea worth considering though I wouldn't place the number of matches that high.

However what about when new players are on Bronze to begin with and are voted out before the match?

As stated I deffinitly agree that players shouldn't try to push above their level before they are ready (common sense should be as effective as placing actual in game filters on finding matches) but when you have new players who are staying in Bronze due to lack of experience and they get voted out by some N7lvl 4,000 players.... There you have a whole other issue. It's the high time people booting low timers in games that you know your gonna be paired with low time folks that I'm more concerned with.

No not really but I play on PC and almost nobody on even good pugs uses a mic.  Hell I'm not even sure I own one.  Years of text based chat being the standard has never really led to requiring one up to this point.

I'd say the biggest problem is everyone scattering to the four winds at the beginning of waves.  Since I can't really tell them anything standard procedure is to find the best player who isn't me and try to stick to their ass like glue.  Every now and again some of them even smarten up by watching a good example.

In the Noob defense i have to add:

How one is suppose to know when is ready to rank up? when i play Bronze i am always ahead, never get killed, protect others, etc. etc.

But on Silver is different i have to run around reviving companions, others lag behind, go separate, and more or less i am always in the bottom of the scoring.

Once more i ask, When is "you are Ready to rank"? Bronze is boring, but Silver is hard sometimes, or maybe is the team?

ps: Sorry to respond a Necroed-tread but it interest me for knowledge purpose.

You get a lot of lone wolf behavior in silver imo. But in my experience with gold pug, good teamwork is very prevalent.

Basically, don't play above bronze unless you are prepared to solo. You should not have any expectation that your team will survive, because most of the time, they won't.

Every now and then, you find a team that works well together. And you think that's what's going to happen when you queue up. But it isn't. More than likely, you'll spend what little leisure time you have in your life feeling frustrated and aggravated.

I'm going to do one of two things going forward; I haven't decided yet. Either I will uninstall so that I won't be tempted, or I will start kicking a lot more and stop leaving lobbies when my kick votes fail. Force people to choose between the jerk and the noob with the Incisor I.

I haven't played this summer, only picked up the game again last month, mid-november.

Since then, I've played a lot, by my standards :P , wich means about 2hrs a day on average.

Out of these games, I would say about 1/8 or 1/10 are done with very bad teammates who shouldn't be playing Silver.
There's the occasional good player with a low lever character trying to build it up in silver.  I would still advise against doing that, but then, I always have the choice to quit the lobby.

So far, I enjoy these silver games, trying to complete the various challenges.  I'm sticking with bronze to level up my characters 'til 10-11, then go for silver.

In bronze I see a lot of newbies not playing "correctly", but then again, it is bronze, it is made for new players, or those who don't want to be challenged too much.  This is the place to learn, mistakes are more forgiving.

Most of my silver pugs are high N7s going for achievements. I really haven't seen any terrible silver pugs in a long time.
