I remember a large number of folk complaining about shortcomings in the ME2 interface vs. ME1 - like the inability to shortcut to the Journal/Codex/Squad, etc.
Finally got and played ME3 - and not only did the interface shortcomings remain in place, they even degraded the journal interaface, whicn was a bit weak to start with.
Games 13 years old had better journal options that remembered where you were in a quest, and even contained useful hints as to where to go to start the mission. What the heck...
There. Got that whine off of my chest.

I think there were tons of steps forward in this game, but the journal was definitely not one of them. I sure wouldn't mind if they lumped a journal overhaul in with a future dlc. Basically just what you said, detailed info about where you are in each quest, and what you have left to do.
