First let me state that I am in no way being critical or condensending.  But could someone please explain the appeal of the Pony/Brony thing.  I am just curious is all.

I've read through the official thread above, I have watched some Youtube stuff and I have looked at a few sites dedicated to this world.  I've asked my teenage daughter and she can't explain it either.  I just don't get it.

So, could someone please explain the lure of it to me.  I'd really like to know.

~respectfully~

Edit:  Please be respectful and keep it clean.  Thank you.

I get the concept of it, as I've always been very childlike myself and taken pride in being so and never forgetting how to have fun no matter what society says I should be doing at my age. The brony thing annoys me though, because it's just a bandwagon thing created by 4chan. A few years ago if a guy came on a message board with a My Little Pony avatar and was in love with the show everyone would wonder what the hell is wrong with him. But now that society says it's okay everyone apparently "loves" the show. Screw that, just be yourself.

Do not attempt to understand, for it is futile - know only that these things are to be avoided like the Plague.

Watch the show.

If you still don't get it, that's fine. But it can't be explained, any more than any appreciation for anything can really be "explained". You either like something, or you don't. I don't understand why people watch sports. Doesn't mean people shouldn't watch sports, only that I lack whatever is needed to appreciate it. That's not a good thing or a bad thing, it simply is.

Most of what you do in life is futile. Since in the end you will die and lose everything. It`s the moment that count.
Being a stuck up is more futile imo. Since you`re just isolating yourself from what life is all about. Living.

I`d rather hang with people who love Pony. At least I know they`re genuine.

I asked the same question the OP did.  I just got people attacking me for being mean about their beloved Ponies.  the best they can say is "its better than it looks"  Yeah so?... I watch an entire episode and all it did was make me even more confused.  What is the appeal?  No one cares what a stupid hater thinks anyway so asking is as pointless as trying to get the ME3's ending.

It's a well made show, nothing more, nothing less. Not that hard to get, sure it's not for everyone but you can tell there was a lot of hard work and heart from Lauren Faust put into the show.

I think it's the adults infatuated with the cartoon ponies aspect that loses people.

It's just meme fuel for the most part. With a side of really liking the characters, that's not a problem but then you do have the creepy fans like most series have.

I guess all the "Kill the MLP's" thing with Diablo 3, it has gotten some sort of "cult" status...

When people start making sex toys shaped like the millenium falcon, I'll believe you.

You want me to bring up the Doctor Who sex toys again? Because those are a real thing, and I am sure there is a Millenium Falcon sex toy somewhere on the internet.:?

Are those toys in the shape of Daniel Tennant? If they're not, then I don't think they're on the same level.

That's the impression I got when I think of men in their 30's watching a cartoon targeted at 6 year old girls.

Just sayin'.

[/quote]"Ew"  "How dare they do this to the show" "wut" "lulz" "WHY GOD!!!" Take your pick, there are more but It would take me forever to post everything one could say to this.

@android Not even close to being 30 but I watch the show because I am a big animation fan, I like the past works of the person who made the show and the characters/episodes are good. But I really do think the fandom for the show needs to "cool" it down.
