Catering to the brony fans is fine and all but it still has nothing to do with who the show is made is for.Logan Cloud wrote...

Yeah a con has nothing to do with who the show is targeted at. The con however can be targeted at anyone it wants to target.Logan Cloud wrote...
A con has nothing to do with who the show is targeted at? So, it didn't have the actual creators and voice actors involved? Those people I just mentioned weren't meeting bronies, talking with bronies, offering products to bronies, showcasing MLP related videos to bronies?
A con has EVERYTHING to do with who the show is targeted at. There's even a brony-made pony in the show.
You're the one who isn't making a point. Have you actually watched more than 1 episode of the show? I'll be damned if little kids can even understand half of it. It's directed at bronies, because that's where the money is.
Again, it's not that hard to understand.
A brony-made pony in the show is kind of cool, still has nothing to do with who the show aims itself at.
Your are talking to a guy who watched the show before you even knew about it. And yes kids will understand the show, I have a niece(age 6) and a nephew(age 4) who understand it just well, maybe my niece a bit more since she is a bit older.
So playing nice with your fans isn't a way to attract more fans, get repeated business with said fans, get new fans, etc?
Catering to the main group of fans isn't infuencing who the show is made for?
It's a form of fan service. So yes, it is. And not the weird, perverted kind.
Obviously they understand the basics of the show, that's not the point.
The fact that kids the age of my niece understand MLP just fine, shows who the show is made for.
The fact that MLP is made for kids, shows who the show is made for.
Look it's safe to say at this point that One Piece is the most popular manga in all of Japan, but it's made for boys ages 8 to 14 and yet everyone loves it, men and women up to their 40s and over even. Does that change who the series is targeted at? Nope still made for boys 8-14 just like how MLP is made for little kids, does that mean it's bad for older viewers to watch it? Again nope.
So yeah I don't see your point at all and this is a silly debate.

The fanbase and its work is pretty amusing anyway so I don't see the problem. Stereotyping and hating on bronies, however, stopped being funny a long time ago. It's got its creepy fans but so does every fandom.

I watched the first two episodes and I can kind of see the appeal. Not for me, but I understand how an adult could enjoy it.

And they're all equally hilarious. This one however has an added creep factor that Star Wars is free from.

Obviously. I don't expect it got to saving the world again at least until the season finale. These shows always fall into the traditional episodic groove with a moral lesson at the end. But it should have given an accurate impression of the animation, writing, and characters.

Yeah, a lot of the one-shot episodes are good, still it's not a show for everyone(as you can see by this thread) but I am an animation nut.Blacklash93 wrote...

Personally it's not my thing but I have watched some of it,
it's not Awful, I just find it Mediocre,
So just watch the show and make your own opinions on it, I'm sure you can find it all on Youtube.
Also Some of the Fan Fiction is REALLY F**ked up, Avoid them like the Plague!

I get the argument that it's something that appeals to a certain segment and the whole phenomenon has it's defenders and detractors alike. I do not follow either side, just trying to understand the mindset of the Brony/Pony fandom.
I chose not to ask this question in the MLP thread because I wanted to hear from everyone, not just one side.
Oh, and one other thing. Please keep the sexual comments and nastiness out of the discussion before this thread gets ninja'd by Mr. Stanley.
Thanks to all who are posting meaningful responses.

Can someone explain why the MLP thread needs to be stickied?
We can't either. We woke up one morning to see that it had been stickied without any warning at all.
We never asked for this.
