There are similarities, but that is it, it doesnt have the added armor that the destroyer has, so a cain would not be able to take it down.

All I see is a Hades cannon mounted on the legs of a Destroyer. That doesn't necessarily mean they have the same degree of protection.Khajiit Jzargo wrote...

Hades Cannon is referred in game as "Hades Cannon" or even "turret". While it shares some design with Reaper Destroyer, it also has differences. If game itself doesn't confirm what wiki says, wiki is most likely wrong. We have only visual data, everything else is just an interpretation.

The cannon did not have the bulit in armor or extra weapons of the destroyer which is why it is easier to kill.

Assuming your count is accurate - 125 dreadnoughts - that means 31 reaper capital ships can be destroyed PER VOLLEY.
And the dreadnought count doesn't factor in non-dreadnought class warships.
This doesn't count Rachni fleet (which there should have been), it doesn't count mercenary ships, or cerberus vessels, it doesn't include special geth ships (like that ridiculously powerful dreadnought at rannoch)
The dreadnought count that was listed to you is the official count before the Reaper invasion. How many dreadnoughts you think actually made it to the battle? Not that many I suspect.
a united fleet of dreadnoughts, with the support of the lesser ships, could jump into a system controlled by a few reapers and overwhelm them. The reapers are spread thin trying to control the entire galaxy in all the major clusters. The reapers aren't organized into a united fleet.
So the galactic resistance could leverage gorilla tactics, hit and run system by system and take down reaper ships.
What about reapers that are planetside on the ground? Aren't those extremely vulnerable like that? Seems like many of them are sitting on the ground harvesting and could get blown away like that.
Second, guerilla tactics are effective when you can use small units that are more mobile than your adversary. A fleet of dreadnoughts is hardly small and it's canon that the Reapers are much faster than us. You try this tactic and you're just making it easier for the Reapers to wipe you out in one fell swoop.
Yeah Guerilla, my bad. Not the hairy primate type.

The power draw on a Hades Cannon is probably enormous. It's quite reasonable to assume it would not be able to maintain its kinetic barriers due to the power requirements.Khajiit Jzargo wrote...

It clearly isnt, it has SOME similarities to a destroyer, but it is not a destroyer. I believe that it is just a anti air defence platform that the reapers drop off to protect their perimeter. They dont have the self awareness that the reapers themselves do.Khajiit Jzargo wrote...

Even if that's true (and I do not think it is), there is no reason to believe the two should have the same armor and kinetic barrier strength.Khajiit Jzargo wrote...

There is actually a real-life precedent to this. Many tanks and SP's (self-propelled guns) share a common chassis, but have different thicknesses of armor plating, especially in the turret/gun housing.

Well you even admitted it was anti-aircraft weapon, and the wiki that your going dismiss as actual proof. but honestly, i though this was common sense. It's a weapon, not an actual reaper.

Hades cannon is a weapon that is mounted on a destroyer. A "hades cannon" is not a Reaper variant, It's a weapon.

It was poorly introduced but it's hardly uncommon practice. LOTR: Destroy the One Ring, you win. Star Wars: Fire torpedo here, you win; Kill Emperor, you win.LaughingDragon wrote...
Whatever the specific details are, if there actually is no way to defeat the reapers, then I can accept that but that means everyone in the ME universe dies and is harvested.
