I'm so discouraged, I can't advance in the game on easy mode. :(

Does your mage have Cone of Cold, by any chance? That can give you a REAL edge as it freezes your enemies.

I don't have a mage in my group.

I have me alistair & my dog.

I'm a dual wield dex warrior.

God the game just got so hard all of a sudden, it's like a complete 180.

Oh wow, you have no healer, no damage dealers and your character is specced like a rogue instead of a proper warrior. On top of that, you have no potions.

Sounds like you need to start over :)

Oh btw dex does slightly increase chance to hit but so does strenght, only dex gives you dodge and str gives you damage. No point in hitting something if you aren't going to do damage anyways.

Just get enough dex to buy skills and build strenght.

Gaxe, the game isn't so much hard as it is different. If what you've been doing is not working, then you need to think outside the frame of mind you have been using. You might also want to read a "walk-through", just to get a good grasp on where your strategy is failing.

It's gotten to the point where it takes me at most 2 hours to get from Origin to Lothering, hehe.
You should register your game. For one thing, I'm really curious as to where you're encountering these shades.

I just left lothering, i encounted some wolves, some blight thingies, and some darkspawn. Those battles were challenging but fun! I won those.

But this battle is just so one sided.  I'm wondering if it's a bug?

Yea but I've never had to do that with other games.  I don't have a lot of time. Do you see what I mean?  I figured easy mode would let me glide through.

This game IS hard and yes you CAN wipe even on Easy. If you dont do strategy at all, you will wipe. A LOT. In fact with your attitude I'm surprised you made it through the tower, theres already some wicked opponents there.

Get Patch 1.02 - it makes Easy easier.

Get a Mage ASAP. I recomment Wynne from the Mage Tower, as she can be a great Background Healer if you set her AI accordingly. Gives you flaming weapons and can pull out Heal, Regenerate, Group Heal and Revive to keep your group up. Also can defend herself with Rock Armor if attacked - you can later make her Arcane Warrior, which allows her to wear armor for great defense.

Get Potions (Heal and Mana) ASAP (craft them, Lyrium is sold in Mage Tower, Elfroot at the Daelish Elves).

I think you guys are being suckered. This is the second topic on the same thing the OP has started, and received advice in.

That is discouraging. You're saying the game is hard on easy? Does that make any sense?  I understand strategy> i've won every battle up to this point (barely).

I have 1.02 installed.

I don't want to use a mage. I have my dog, alistair & leilana. Those are the characters that seem the most interesting so far. Morrigan seems very cruel and I don't like that.

I have 3 lesser health potions left at this battle but I use them all and still die! :(

God i suck! thanks bioware for making me feel like a piece of ****.

My first topic had to do with an ogre that was really really difficult.

Here's what you need. You can try using the select party option first to swap out party members, or if you're just too annoyed to bother put on god mode and kill them.

Make sure to back up your saves folder in case something strange happens.

No really, you should go play hello kitty or something if this game is hard for you on easy.

The difficulty can be discouraging some times but it's worth it. Just calm down and if you're too frustrated, come back to the game later. My thoughest battles are in the city and against a teleporting undead with AoE. Not even big bosses... figures...

You can just go back and change your team. Even if you don't like Morrigan, use her at least and remove her when you get the other mage. You want to win this battle or not?

You can also come back to this battle later. Go to the Circle Tower and you'll get a nice and gentle healing mage.

You think you can do almost everything wrong and still beat the game on easy mode? Maybe you could ask Bioware to make special super-easy mod just for you?

Morrigan is cruel, yes. The game is cruel. Some scenes are utterly cruel. I assume you noticed that? So how is it Bioware fault that you deliberately avoid best options they gave you? And why do you play this game anyway if you dont like cruelty?

It's not worth it for me. If I had more time I could accept the extreme difficulty on easy mode. But I don't have a lot of time.  But the story of the game is very interesting. I haven't seen a good story like this since LOTR.  I want to know what happens but the combat is just so mother ****ing hard.

ROFL......I think it's a bug where random boss battles turn nightmarish for no reason. I was fighting Uldred on my 5th or 6th playthrough and none of my previous fights with him in earlier playthroughs ever posed a challenge but now all of a sudden he turned nearly invincible.....lowered the difficulty and it still took 40 minutes to kill him(just the one winning battle) and I never died but I reloaded a couple of times because he kept killing someone I wanted to keep alive.

That made laugh really.....i didn't mind it a whole lot....just a tiny bump on the road to success. No big deal.

What do you mean? Alistair is good, my dog is good, leilana is good. Is it wrong to play the good guys?

Morrigan is evil.

In all games I play I play as the good guys. is that so bad?

Several people have been nice to you and asked you to register your game so you could discuss this in the (SPOILERS) forum. Instead you go between here and the PC Help forum posting the same questions. It looks a bit suspicious to me.

Your party is only yourself, Alistair and Dog? Would you consider using the console to add Morrigan or Wynne or something?

I'm not sure how the encounter is set up, but if you aren't plunged head first into the fight, you could put your party on hold, select one character, equip a ranged weapon and pull one or two from the group. Which encounter is this exactly? Shades, yeah, but where? Pulling is usually a sure fire way of lowering the difficulty of an encounter. I've played on hard the first time and nightmare twice. I've never used salves and I don't even know what Incense of Awareness does. lol. Pulling. ftw.

Oooh yeah, very mature for a guy who comes to the forums crying about failing to play a game and then expecting sympathy. You've been offered atleast 20 solutions and you're still just begging for attention.

Man, what's next. You want the educational system to be downgraded so you can cope? You want police protection from the bullies at your school? You want your mommy to hold you and tell you you're not really that ugly?

Ok a bit more reason in your response so I'll respond with the same.

I 'm not expecting sympathy. I've tried the strategies they've talked about.   And Graachio I don't play games as much as you. I don't even know you but I can tell you that I'm not a gamer. But I know  a good game when I see one. This is more than a game. It's like a great movie. It's just the combat is so hard it demands a lot of time I don't have.

Thus, I'm playing on easy mode which seems to make no difference.

Please listen to the advice and stop just responding to people.

Seriously, you won't die if you take Morrigan for a few battles. Just go to the Circle tower first thing and you'll get someone that will help you a lot.

If you're that angry, go take a drink, calm down and come back to it with a clear head.
