Two possibilities here, 1) poster is a troll; 2) poster triggered a tough random encounter you aren't ready for

I had this happen on my first play through so its not impossible. When I got to lothering, before doing any of the quests there, I decided to travel to Denrim. I hit a darkspawn random encounter there was no way my party could win. There were traps, mages, tons of archers. I tried like five times. Right out of ostagar, was not going to happen. So I decided not to go there right away and reloaded.

If this is what happened to you, and you have no saves to go back to, just start over. Sucks but you are not far in. You didn't do anything wrong other than not having some backup saves. Happens.  70 hours in triggered the Ozarmmar game ending quest bug (don't try to play both sides, pick or Harromont or Bhlen) and had to start over.  Probably will be patched one day, but what can you do.  

All the advanced crap people are telling you in the thread comes much later, your build will work fine. You should have at least one mage to make fights easier, but its not clear that would make the difference here.  And use grenedes.

No, I'm telling you the way you have your party structured (character builds, tactics, etc.) is unplayable for you.

It's not unplayable.  You just can't do it because you're terrible at the game.  Notice how all of the other players are saying they have no problem with it?  Go flip burgers and stop posting.

I've actually been able to the shades with leilana but it seems archery is so underpowered there just isn't enough damage.

Your main issue is that you are too stubbrn to admit that you cluelessly screwed your toons and simply have no dps to kill even rats in Nannys kitchen. Dagger warrior is bad, archer Leli at lvl 7 is bad, I dont know what you did with Alistair and Doggie but obviously something bad too.
Shades do not debuff you, you debuffed yourself with bad choices.

My first video game ever was MMO - I spent 2 weeks rerolling lvl 1-8 until I learned some basics..... lvl 8 out of 220 possible. Then I screwed 3 toons at lvl 50 and rerolled again. Then I got to lvl 90 and asked for some help, basically I was told I screwed again.
I am not perfect player, heck I never learned how to kite properly, but I have my ways and I more or less know what to do when I instal some game on my PC.

So until you put bit more effort and (I didnt think I will ever say this to anyone but some people just ask for it) L2p, stop whining about how hard some game is.

Sounds like you completely fubar'd your character man. It happens. Great thing is, this is a single player game and no one else would be the wiser if you deleted your character and started over. I generally suck when it comes to video games but i love them and even i think easy mode is pretty easy.



If you want a duel wielder, remake a rogue and then spec duelist. You will become a shredding machine. Dont pump a warrior with massive Dex and ignore Str. No wonder you are having such a hard time.



Playing without a healer and/or mage is for those who enjoy the hardest tactical settings of the game.

Can't you guys get it through your heads that bioware is aware that their game is too hard?  They have tried to make it easier in two patches yet the game is still too hard.

I will say this again. I was able to beat the ogre fight and a few other fights that were tough for me. But I GOT THROUGH THEM.

THis fight is just too difficult.  Four shades? 3 yellow & 1 orange? Are you ****ing kidding me? On easy mode ?!? I can barely beat one orange mob let alone 3 yellows to help him.

Gaxe multple people have come on here and tried to help you.  You also posted in the PC Tech Forum regarding this.  Just because you don't like the answers that does not invalidate them.

You cannot move past this point, despite advice and suggestions from several helpful posters.  You cannot go back to a previous save.  You seem to be in a distinct minority with this particular issue.

The issue is not the game.  The issue is how you are playing the game.  There is no other advice to give, there are no fixes to resolve a nonexistant glitch. 

Restart your character, use the guides, save often in multiple slots.  If you encounter the same problem with the same encounter and a different party, then I would most certainly suggest readdressing your issue in the PC Tech Forum.

No I love my dual wielding dagger warrior.

he is very hard to hit.

but these shades have somehow taken down my attack & defense rating so low it has rendered me useless. I could handle one or two of these shades BUT FOUR IS TOO MANY.

3 are yellow & the main one is orange... This is too ****ing hard.

This is a random encounter, I came across it as well and got my butt whooped. I eventually got through it by changing my tactics, but it is very frustrating you come out of load mode and are immediately hit by these shades. They are not off in the distance so you have time to react they are in your face right from the start.

That being said I am new to this RPG gaming and I am on my 3rd play through on a console. Yes I am using casual and normal modes but I am learning as I go hopefully getting better. My first play I had no idea these forums even existed talk about a noob, I do find the casual way too easy but it did allow me to complete the game. I hope to be able to do this on nightmare level at some point, I do know that I would not like them to make this any easier.

I am glad that some one like me who never played this type of game before does has a chance to enjoy it, it is unfortunate that it comes at the expense of experienced players. Just realize though that everyone was a noob and we all have to start somewhere. I guess way back when they didn't have easy modes built into the games, but the gaming companies also lost a lot of money because if you couldn't beat or enjoy such and such you certainly weren't going to buy the next RPG. Now the make them so even the casual player can enjoy it.

Any way that's all I got except that I hope the OP realizes that this is a 50 hour plus game doing just one origin story, I am close to 150 hours on only 3 origins.

Man I swear if I had a month off I could be as good at these games as you guys but I just don't have the time.  I have like a few hours every other day at the most.  A lot of the time is spent listening to all the great dialogue in the game.  But I hate wasting hours trying to figure out these impossible battles.

Game isn't hard. Casual player doesn't equal terrible player and this post looks like a post from a terrible player who refuses to use strategy and adapt.  I seriously cannot fathom anyone struggling on easy, when the game has been soloed on nightmare. You're either the most terrible player in existence or you're trolling. My 8 year old sister could beat this game on easy.

hey Gaxe, first off its great to see a whole community trying to help someone out here. really shows the type of people playing (more reason to have a MMO version hehe)



I know the pain you are feeling dude. i had a random encounter with about 6 Hurlocks Archers, and two shades and they murdered my everytime. i have to reload to a previous point. luckily i am obsessed with saving. i automatically F5 every 5-10min, if not more.



i havent tested the game with the new patch but i here it has been made easy and thank the maker for that!



i would advise on having a mage present at all times tho esp if you are a beginner to these sorta games.

im an RPG vet and i still got my ass handed to me over and over on normal
