A **** is a female dog.

They only implication behind it is the one you're assigning it.

But we're talking about humans here.

Exactly.

A **** is a dog. By calling a human a **** you're calling them a dog. Not a "weak woman".

That's what it is, any further implications are just what you're imposing upon them.

*edit* I'm done. Thread derailment reaching ridiculous levels.

Shut up, f*ggot.

Intention or otherwise; I lol'd.

Stupidities aside, yes, the game is worth replaying at least once more.

I am currently playing or plan to play 12 different Mass Effect playthroughs. Half of them are malesheps. I just think it's really fun seeing all possible outcomes and romances, so yes, I recommend playing a different gender/class/alignment/romance.

On a side note, not intending to further fuel the sexism debate, but it really bothers me when people's reasons for not wanting to play a Femshep (or any female game protagonist) is that they find it out of place and "a joke" when a female is acting "butch", capable and threatening.

Now people might genuinely find Hale annoying or something, but if they find a strong/renegade Femshep so out of place, to me it just shows how insecure they are that a strong woman makes them uneasy.

Her femshep voice doesn't sound natural to me.

Meer's Maleshep voice does. Hale just seems like she's forcing it when it comes to femshep.

It must be nice being so edgy and above everything that you can completely ignore history, context and vernacular.

PS. "THAT'S SO GAY" MEANS SOMETHING IS CAREFREE AND MIRTHFUL TO A GREAT EXTENT LOLOLOlo

They you are one of those people who dislike her because you dislike her, and that's fine. To each their own. I, personally have nothing against Meer, I just think Hale is a better actor to my opinion.

The female dog thing, I disagree on, though. With your logic it's not a bad thing to call anyone a female dog or "a person born out of wedlock", but the word "b*stard" still have an extremely negative meaning even in today's society where it's not any longer regarded a shame not to have married parents. It's the same thing with b*tch, and that one is a female specific insult (if you're not using it to call a man a weak woman).

It's not even that I don't like her VA work. Outside of Mass Effect I find her quite good. But There's something wrong with her Shepard for me.

*edit* Not touching the other part 'cause I'm trying not to derail the thread further :P

I like how you jumped on me though as soon as i pointed out how sexist it is etc. and said "omgz its not sexist at all heheheheheh" but when people actually prove you wrong you don't want to "derail" the thread any further. bull****.

Yes, you should play as femshep. On the contrary to most others, I prefer a full paragon femshep. Hale is an amazing voice actor and I don't understand the hate her Shepard gets by some people. I guess they just can't stand the thought of a powerful heroine. Femshep has a lot of emotion, concern, and power in her voice. To me, she seems more like like a real person compared to Broshep. Also, the Kaidan relationship with her is done very well.

Her VO is terrible throughout the series. Every line is ended with a heavy sigh, every word delivered with an unnatural attempt to deepen the voice and sound like some kind of world-weary soldier, and it fails on all levels.

As much as I like Hale's work in other games, I absolutely cannot stand her in ME.

I think certain parts of ME3 definitely change the way a player perceives them when played from the view of femShep. I'd give Thane's prayer as an example. The simple swap of the pronoun from "he" to "she" delivers the revelation that his final prayer is actually for you in a way that, at least in my opinion, gives the scene much more weight in terms of emotional impact because you are genuinely blindsided by the realisation. I think broShep has to dig for it a little more with his line about Thane's last moments being those of a hero, so for me at least, there's less of an emotional spike. It doesn't suddenly hit you in the way it does for femShep.

I imported a femshep like 2 weeks ago but I've pretty much lost the desire to play it now. For whatever reason I just can't play as a female, I don't know why. It's just not as fun for me.

It's weird because for me, females always seem to be the best NPC's in any game though. For example, Ashley is my favorite character. Jill in Resident Evil was terrific.. and so on.

/sarcasm for everyone who cant tell

What's a "femShep"?
Is it that random chick who wears Commander's armor for some reason? Why would anyone want to play as her, I'll never know.
