They just care about their new fanbase now, which is essentially the casual and mainstream gamer. The average CoD fanatic basically. To sum it up, they're abandoning the nerds for the jocks.

Actually, technically they're trying to get both audiences from where I'm sitting, but it's not working. They'd clearly rather pander to the masses than please old fans, that's pretty damn clear from how they're going. Everything BioWare used to touch was gold up to DAO... now it's just all half-assed and weaksauce. And it's pretty damn clear they have no intention of turning things around.

Well to be perfectly fair to Bioware here, the old-school fans are ridiculously hard to please.  They're notorious for being ridiculously nitpicky and well, picky in the games they play.  On top of that, the old-school fans are a fairly small niche as far as niches go.  Going with the group that is both more numerous and more accepting is hardly the betrayal that you guys paint it as.  Bioware decides to ditch their overly critical, increasingly small niche in favor of something more inclusive?  Well that's just terrible.

Judging by the state of this place, I wouldn't blame Bioware for ditching you guys in the slightest.  The sheer amount of spoiled brats whining about not getting exactly what they wanted on Christmas morning annoys me.  Can't ever look at the bright side, can't ever just enjoy something.  No, because it isn't exactly what you asked for, it's "half assed" and "weaksauce."

What surprises me is how people can still stick up for and support BioWare given how badly they've treated their fanbase, all the outright lies they've told us and the way they're making their games lately.

Seriously, what at all was satisfying and even "good" about ME3 beyond the combat as far as being the third part of a trilogy goes? How can you or anybody defend BioWare for pumping out a game so misfocused with so much autodialogue, so few choices, so much linearity, a horrible conclusion, etc.?

I don't have a major problem with BioWare branching out as a studio, but they shouldn't go about messing with their existing series' part the way through and purposefully dumbing them down for the sake of broad appeal to the point where they aren't even aimed at the same audience with the sequels as they were for the original entry. Simply put, if BioWare want to make a more story-driven, cinematic CoD clone then so be it, but that doesn't mean they need to gradually turn Mass Effect into that over time. The same goes with Dragon Age going from a hardcore, epic PC fantasy RPG into a hack'n'slash console action game.

Ever since EA took the helm, BioWare games have become these rush, half-assed affairs that keep taking choice and control away from the player more and more. BioWare are on their way to just making the same types of games as every other developer now... joining the Assassin's Creeds, Uncharteds, Batman Arkham games, etc.

Yep you're definitely ignorant and entitled.

how are the fans at fault for ME3?

Everyone is complaining just like they did when ME2 came out. I remember seeing complaints about the boss fights. People didnt like them...SOOOO no boss fight in ME3 (thank you fans) Some didnt like the combat was "slow" Soo they up the combat up more in ME3 Now its called a action movie (idiot fans...) Sometimes its not all the developers fault. It may not seem like it, but sometimes it is. But the endings...welll dont know where the heck they came from..

As someone who's an Assassin's Creed and Uncharted fan - get over yourself.

This is why people don't like you 'hardcore gamer' types. I almost wish Bioware did create a ME FPS just to ****** in your coffees.

I believe I have already posted this, but it needs to be said again. Bioware has forgotten one of the most important thing about game development.

www.youtube.com/watch

It's great to make a game you yourself will enjoy, but if you're making a game for your fanbase, what is the point of making said game if you don't care about the players? You don't need to do everything your players say (that could make for a terrible game, given some of the ideas I've seen) but neither do you ignore your fans either.

It is called being a pseudo-intellectual, and it is what the writers of the ending of Mass Effect 3 suffer from.

Basically, most bad writers with over-inflated opinions of themselves suffer from it. Yeah, it leads to being out of touch, and not just with your fan base....

*rolls eyes*

All of which are optional. The Collector's edition comes with a lot of extra stuff, including getting the day one DLC for free. Speaking of the DLC, it's completely optional. Javik is in no way integral to the plot. Also, people are not forced to make micro-transactions. That comes from laziness.

You can't compare the criticism ME2 had or even the criticism DA2 had with the criticism ME3 had because of its ending.

ME2 was a solid game and DA2... well...

ME2 was a solid game...

I personally liked ME2, but I didn't like the push away from RPG elements, and just because people didn't like the boss battle doesn't give Bioware the right the get rid of it period, it means you have to try harder thats what you do not be lazy and toss it. The combat in ME3 is better I like it, but thet kept pushing away from the RPG element that was in ME1 which everyone loved, thats why they call it an action type game now. The complaining may have caused this, but Bioware was suppose to try harder next time not take the lazy way out. I get what your trying to say tho

plus the endings were lazy and bad writting because Drew left

Wait, what? There's a 'right' to remove boss battles now?

I have PS3 so i never got to play ME1 but playing ME2 and ME3 i never really noticed any RPG elements...guess i was to used to RPGs with swords and stuff xD but i guess ME1 was the TRUE space RPG while ME2 and ME3 were more combaty. Its just hard to make everyone happy, especially if your a movie director or developer.

I have a PS3 too so I just watched the whole ME1 playthrough on youtube and played it on my cousin's Xbox to fully get into the series, and I gotta say I really liked the RPG element in there, they were really in depth with the customization except for amor types, that was the main complaint in ME2, since ME2 and ME3 it felt off without that element

why would they care about the core fans who helped make them popular and supported them in the early days when they can take the ea route and just make everything "more accessible". that means more money for them so screw the people that actually care. if it really bothers you just buy the games used.

EA waged war on Used and rental games from them
