V'Ger from Star Trek TMP. He is essentially a glorified Reaper, but he just digitizes everything and stores them in a big Holodeck thing.

You're giving the Reapers way too much credit.

I wouldn't actually bring fleets of ships, but just enough to get a edge over the Reapers, with it still being a challenge:
People:
--The Doctor (11th plus companions)
--Starkiller
--Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker
--Grand Admiral Thrawn
--Captain Titus of the Ultramarines leading a company of Ultramarines
--SG1 (with Colonel Jack O'Neill)
--John 117

Ships (plus people inside ships):
--USS Enterprise-E
--USS Defiant
--Tardis (of course where the doctor goes, the Tardis goes)
--ISS Chrimaera

Plus all ME2/ME3 squaddies on board the Normandy.

Just watched this movie the other day. It's concept was really good and I was really surprised to see Mass Effect's plot in Star Trek :) As a Star Trek movie I thought it was pretty boring and weirdly paced though.

James T. Kirk. Baby! With that kick butt Kung Fu Chop...and tossled hair...Harbinger would not have stood a chance.

Kirk would be too busy making little blue babes on Thessia to care about the reapers.:P

Ha! He would be, wouldn't he?

Kirk... Oh, you....

Gene Roddenberry was trying to avoid using Star Wars type pacing and narrative (after all, Star Wars was just released I believe a year before TMP). Star Trek was all about intellect, and he didn't want to bastardize it. The concept would have been awesome...for a one hour show (which was already done in the episode "The Changeling"). V'Ger's mission was to collect all data and send back to creator. The way of collecting was essentially "harvesting".

WH40k. The answer is always WH40k.

Solving the Reapers with 40k is basically curing the disease by killing the patient.

I can 1-up that, solving the Reapers with Bydo turns the patient into the very disease, but now it can be desposed of with small one man Round Type fighters.

The Ph'for or Durandal from Marathon, though the latter may end up causing more problems than the Reapers ever did.

I think I managed to run a few errands before that scene where Kirk and Scotty board the Enterprise for the first time ended.

You kidding? Optimus would jump in the synthesis beam so fast the Catalyst wouldn't even get a chance to start his exposition-fairy skit. Seriously, he has some weird fetish about getting disintegrated to bring peace.
