You kidding? Optimus would jump in the synthesis beam so fast the Catalyst wouldn't even get a chance to start his exposition-fairy skit. Seriously, he has some weird fetish about getting disintegrated to bring peace.
If you could bring in help from any sci-fi universe...

my picks for mot destroying the galaxy after killing the reapers would be
the Doctor, for reasons already stated
if he's busy, then all we need is a lot of F302s (SG-1/Atlantis), hook one up to an asteroid filled with naquadria, jump it into the inside of the reaper ships and the resulting explosion would wipe out that reaper, probably more than one. because reapers are shielded on the OUTSIDE not on the INSIDE. reapers wouldn''t be able to stop that kind of slaughter. although, it might be a bad idea to use naquadria 'roids, normal ones would work too, just less of a giant, planet-shattering explosion afterwards. i'd use the alterans to fight the ground wars. not much a banshee can do when it picks up a replicator and stabs her arm through it only to get her face ripped off, then onto the next baddy to kill. and if they do manage to kill an alteran, it just downloads into a new body like the geth, but with nearly unstopable bodies.
Eve online ships would work too. cloaky stealth bombers drop bombs to wipe the reaper fighters, dreadnaughts in siege mode to work on the capital ships, motherships and carriers in triage mode for rep's plus fighters to wreck destroyer/cruiser reapers, titans to doomsday anything left over.
you mean Asurans
Alterans were the Ancients

Dude could probably just tear Harbinger into two with his hands, he's done more over-the-top stuff.

Are you sure you havnt got him confused with Optimus Primal, because i seem to remember Primal jumping into something green at the end of Beast Machines and synthesing Cybertron.

It would be amusing to see Harbinger taken down by a set of fancy silverware.sistersafetypin wrote...

Alternatively, John Crichton from Farscape, because he'll basically threaten to destroy the universe in order to make you end the war. That man means business.
I'd also probably take the Serenity (Firefly) crew with me as squadmates.

I don't want to get into a numbers debate, but the Reapers and Mass Effect in general don't have very impressive firepower stats, especially in space combat. In space, Star Trek would wipe the floor with the Reapers and Star Wars or Warhammer 40k would both roll over Star Trek without a problem. Ground combat is harder to judge since most sci-fi writers seem hell-bent on recreating Vietnam in space, but lets put it this way. The Tyranids would certainly invalidate the starbrat's contention about organics getting wiped out, they would certainly enjoy cracking open those Reaper shells to get to that lovely organic goo inside.

^ Like this man said in terms of fire power the Reapers are really not that strong, nothing in the ME universe is packing alot of raw fire power. Some of the tech is advanced mainly propulsion but other than that Universes like warhammer 40k, star wars, star trek have tech that make the Reapers look silly.
Hell a Macross Quater is esstenially a Carrier/Heavy crusier with enough fire power from its Quantum Cannon alone the makes a ME Dreadnaught main gun look like a BB gun, plus has the manueverabilty of fighter and its tiny in comparison to some of the ME ships at only 472m.

Even stormtroopers would be effective here, since the only important Reaper characters are Harbinger, Starchild and Marauder Shields. Ergo, the infamous Stormtrooper Effect wouldn't apply to all the random husks.
A slightly more fair fight would be to bring in the Covenant and UNSC (though would still be a mass roflstompage against the Reapers)
Gundams also would be fun to see, with the roflstompage level sliding up or down depending on the series used.

I literally laughed out loud imagining this. It would be epic.
Probably ultimately suck for humans but still
