I always pick rogue/assassin/thief like classes in games. They just fit my personality best: if there's a class that's meant for lonewolfing and doing stuff without others being able to watch your fingers, it's got to be rogue.
I did finish as a sword & board warrior though, and am now doing a mage toon, but rogue will nevertheless always be my first choice, and my next 2-3 characters will probably be rogues again as well.
rogues have the most fun

I love these threads. of course there's reason to take things other then a rogue..it's called fun and preference.
personally I like the sword/shield warrior.
but if all you do is judge a game by min-maxing then I guess a rogue is the melee way to go over a warrior. But then again using this stupid logic of powergaming that you want you're better off with 3 mage combo, one heal, one CC, and an Arcane Warrior..then throw in Leliana for unlocking chests....following your train of thought there's no reason to do anything BUT this
myself? I'll stick with a mix of classes....afterall I prefer fun over only doing what nets the most powerful characters/teams.

Yeah my first charcter was a dual wielding elf rogue she did 42% of the party damage throughout the game.
Had lots of fun sneaking around and they seem to have the most usefull powers.

I got hooked on rogues at BG1 and Imoen - the infatuation hasn't stopped. I seem to pick up a lot of little XP points doing rogue things eg disable traps, pick locks. I haven't paid attention to other classes, and I'm curious as to whether this means that rogues pick up more XP overall because of this, or is this balanced out in other ways for other classes? And always, always dual wielding. As I invariably play on the 'good' side, I guess there's this whole good guy/gal with a darker edge going on for me with a rogue that appeals. Overall, just seems to be more choices to do things differently with a rogue.

Aye rogues definitely are most fun imo, I certainly like mages as well, they are probably my second favorite character type in any RPG. Warriors well... I'm always kinda disappointed with warriors, usually for the most part I just run with one in the group, usually Alistair since hes auto tank mode from day 1.
Its just something about warriors that I don't really like, they always sound good, you know a master of physical prowess and all but then they always seem dimwited when I compare them to a rogue or mage. Both classes could ususally kill a warrior with their eyes closed because they would rather fight smart where as the warrior just says "RAWR!! I Got a big battle axe!!! I will chop you in two!!" then runs into combat like some moronic caveman. Ether that or they are a dedicated tank, not very good at killing anything.
Even in DA:O I kinda get that feeling, mainly the only thing separating a warrior from a rogue is a warrior has a lot more options on how they go about combat, it didn't give them more skill/talent points however so they ether became a jack of all trade or master of one just like a rogue does anyways (specialize in ranged combat, duel weild, two hand etc.), but the rogue can pick locks and has stealth not to mention backstabs and extra stuns.

I am on my second Rogue playthrough - went dual wielding (Bard+Assassin) the first time and this time I am ahd archer (Bard+Duelist). Have to say it is a lot of fun !
I also really enjoyed playing a Sword and Board tank (Templar+Guardian) - a bit of variety is good and the game is quite different from the Tank and MDPS/RDPS perspectives.
