Raptor's a good gun. So's the GPR. Those who say otherwise are doing it wrong.

As long as you're killing things, staying alive, and being a team player, I couldn't care less what you use.

You need guns that kill heavy units fast.

The gun is not so bad (with Equipment)

With a rifle amp, EB and STC it packs quite a puch

I was recently kicked from a lobby, I asked why and the guy said my gun sucks, I know i'm better than the punk I use the Raptor for cover fire and setting up tech burst when I use the Salarian Engineer.

it makes me sad tbqfh:crying:

On what difficulty were you playing, what class were you using it on and who was the enemy ?

Actually Raptor X on a headshot build is quite effective, its rapid fire rate allows you to compensate for lag with ease, however dps does tend to drop off on targets without a headshot box. Also the latest gen of weapons outstrips it on pure dps, the Cerberus Harrier and Indra both make a total mockery of its dps. Lets face facts, it was a nice piece of kit prior to dlc, however there were definatley better weapons out there even before the new content.

As for being removed from a game for using a certain weapon. Personally I detest players who do this, it has happened to me several times for using a predator with a human soldier on gold during moments of boredom. Despite the fact I usually finish with 120K +. People see the weapon judge the book by its cover and completley fail to allow for skill and good character build. At the end of the day if your an experienced player you can score high no matter what gun you use. Use what you want/do well with and tell everyone who tells you to do otherwise to jog on.

Nothing to add to that comment other than to increase the likelyhood of others reading it. That, end of thread, period and whatever other superlatives you can call out the end of a sentiment with.

I use it on Gold and prefer it over the Mattock basically because the AP mod for AR reduces damage by 40%, and the SP AP mod only reduces damage by 30% I use it on my Batarian Sentinel, most of my engineers, and my Asari Vanguard for faster cooldowns.

Scored 145K last night on FB Giant/Cerberus/Gold with my AV oming into the game on wave 3.

According to this it has the highest mean damage per second of any of the sniper rifles, by a pretty wide margin. 380 versus 330 for the second highest, the valiant.

Raptor is far from the worst gun. Nothing wrong with using it.

It's a good gun--deadly even--in the hands of someone who knows what they're about, and has good trigger finger stamina (sadly, I don't).

Personally, I'd never kick someone for using one...

I love my raptor. I treat it like an designated marksman rifle/semi-auto assualt rifle. Love the free scope for extending the reach of my powers. It's pretty light on my SE, and I can make it sting running with operative package, rail amp, and an ammo.

It used to be my favorite weapon, but you have to know what you're doing to get the most out of it (infil with sniper bonus, full gear amps, ammo mods). I don't use it anymore; there are much better (and lighter) weapons.

YOu need to learn to take DPS with a grain of salt. Notice how the reagar does 100 less dps than the skimitar...which one do you think actually kills things faster in-game.

Also...If you use a raptor and I use an Indra with the exact same mods and gear, I will beat your score 9 times out of 10.

I love how the raptor's RoF stat bar shows it's much, much higher than the mattock. In practice, the mattock fires faster because the raptor has a refire delay and the mattock doesn't.

Really though, I can't think of any application I'd take the raptor over the mattock for. The raptor's only advantage that I can see is that its built-in scope allows you to use two mods. But those mods are going to be piercing and extended barrel, right? Right. Now after the extended barrel is factored in, you're doing about the same per shot as a mattock without the barrel. So what's the point?

P.S. IIRC, when the game was in the development stages nemesises used a widow. Which explains the way they fight. They eventually decided to switch the model to a raptor, but for all intents and purposes they're using a widow.

No problem if your using it on a SE regardless of N7 rank becuase I know SE gets a weight bonus for snipers, and a raptor as a lightweight sniper rifle on a SE is a completely logical class.

Weapon weight skills are a waste of points.

A Salarian Infiltrator with Extended Magazine, Extended Barrel, Operative Pack and AP ammo can kill an Atlas on gold with two Raptor magazines simply because he has Proximity Mine.

The people who kicked OP were just 'FOTM or GTFO" idiots.

The mattock takes longer to reload, has a lot more recoil, and its an assault rifle so its damage decreases with distance, sniper rifles don't. The indra also takes about twice as long to reload. It has a larger clip which partially makes up for it, but the less I have to wait when I'm caught with an empty clip the better. The raptor also does a lot more damage per shot than the indra, so it's stronger against armor.

I have the Raptor at X and the Indra at I and I know its unfair to compare those weapons but one is an UR the other is uncommon.  Everybody has the raptor at X or at least they should by now.

Raptor X damage per shot 97.7
Indra I damage per shot 62.6

Raptor capacity is 15 and is certainly less than the Indra's 25 but I have enough bullets to kill a a phantom in one clip and the raptor has a 50% LESS reload time over the indra

The Raptor can be hipfired which is important when backpedaling versus armored enemies.

I could careless what anyone uses. As long as you're killing stuff and not being rambo, I'm cool with whatever weapon loadout someone has.

Sniper AP mods are better than AR AP mods,  so much so that if you put them both on you are actually doing approximately the same damage.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I feel there are too many stinking weapons out there already. Seriously, how many variations of a rifle can you throw at a person before they get input overload. Just give everyone a rifle and some slide bars for customization and call it a day.

Just sayin

The fourth evolution of Salarian Operative give +30 weight capacity and +30% power damage. I don't think those are wasted skill points. Now that proxy mine will hit harder, and so will that energy drain.

Raptor isn't an awful weapon, but it doesn't exactly qualify as "top-tier" in my book.

Wouldn't kick someone from Gold for using it, but for Platinum I might.

(I normally don't kick people based on N7 or equipment, rather, I just play a match with them and decide afterwards. Might have to change my methods depending on how hard Platinum ends up being.)
