Hi All,
Would really appreciate any help or directions as I'm at the stage of pulling out my hair. Got my DAO from Steam recently. The regular version. Played through about halfway and decided to download Warden's Keep. No problem installing & playing on my PC.
Problem began when I downloaded Return to Ostagar. It came as 2 zip files.
DAO_PRC_CP_1_1.1
DAO_PRC_OCP_1_1.1
Extracted it with WINRAR but that about it. No launcher thingy to press unlike Warden's Keep. Couldn't really save.as dazip files either when downloading both files as suggested by Bioware when downloading to the PC.
Thanks in advance.

DLC for Dragon Age Origin (unlike DA2 or the Mass Effect games) is handled within the game. There's no need to manually install it.

Thanks RaenImrahl but the Warden's Keep DLC that I downloaded from here had to be unzipped and I had to click on the little Warden's shield icon to get it enabled which it did. Unfortunately, the Ostagar DLC didn't have a the shield icon to click on after unpacking and using the daupdater as suggested by Bioware download instructions for PC didn't help either.
So I'm unfortunately still stuck and a couple of bucks down.

Still, that should be optional. We would need a bit more detail on exactly what happens, in order to maybe help you better. For example: after unpacking those two files, you mention no DAupdater registered icons. But what *did* you see? Or, when using the in-game DLC download/authentication method, what happens? Help us to help you.

Shins is right, we need more info. Also, is the game patched to 1.05? You may need to reboot your computer or restart the Steam client to receive the 1.05 patch if you haven't.

Sorry about the lack of info. Being technically challenged I'm not sure what you need to know but here goes:
1. I've updated my Steam client earlier. No new updates.
2. Checked my game's DAO.exe file it says version 1.05.
3. Got my game from Steam around late June 2012 & from what I read on the Steam Game help forum I should have the latest patch. If nothing else the game version was at least 1.04
4. Running on Windows 7 Starter on my PC.
5. When I downloaded the Ostagar DLC for PC from Bioware there is a screen detailing how the file should be saved. It says "Save As" a *.dazip file. Doesn't work coz I have only a "Save" function.
6. Once saved I tried to use the Daupdater program found in my Steamapps as suggested in the instruction screen but it can't open the downloaded files coz as there are not dazip files.
7. As mentioned had no such problem when I downloaded the Warden's keep dlc.
8. Funny thing is I should see what available content under the "Downloadable Content" I have when I'm logged in while playing the game but there's nothing although my Bioware points remaining is shown.
Not sure if the above is the info you need but Many thanks guys for trying to help me out.

A few possibilities:
1) Make sure your BSN password (which you use to log online within the game) does not have any special characters in it. It should *only* have numbers and letters.
2) In the game, go to Options > Online and make sure "Download my previously purchased content" is selected.
3) If none of that works, there's an entry on manually installing DLC in the old "Solutions Roundup" thread. There's a link below in my sig. Go half-way down the first post, and you'll the see the entry and a link to the Dragon Age Wiki. The wiki gives complete instructions on manually installing DLC and links to the DAZIP files.

Thanks RaenImrahl. The set of links you provided led me to others as well. Looking at the number of people with similar problems was quite a suprise and sad. Went fhrough about 4 of the suggestions but no success as yet. The thing is the Ostagar Dlc that I purchase just doesn't show on my Downloadable Content when I'm in the game menu page despite being logged on. Some posters experienced the same.
To make matters worse I tried clicking on the download button again hoping for a change but being the technical idiot that I am all it did was use up my remaining bioware points which I had hoped to use for the other dlc later.Paid twice for something that I still haven't got it to work.
At any rate 2 of the suggestions I couldn't quite follow as I couldn't find some of the files (usiing the Administative console &finding the DAO _UpdateAddinsxml tfile) mentioned & the other 2 that I tried didn't work either. I will by process of elimination go through some of the other suggestions as I work through them & hope for the best.
Thanks again for the links. Much appreciated.

If you've paid for the same thing twice, you should contact EA customer support at help.ea.com.

Finally figured it out. Not sure if it will help anyone else with similar problems on the PC downloads but here goes:
1. After going through the motion of paying with Bioware pts or such they will be a little window that says save the file as a **.dazip file.
2. Might didn't download automatically so I had to right click on the 2 files given below the window.
3. It will then pop up the Save menu.
4. At the end of the filename type in .dazip
5. Then rather than save as a winzip or winrar file depending on your zip program click the dropdown menu as click "All Files"
6. Then only click "Save"
7. For Steam users like myself you have to go to C:\\program files\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship.
8. Look for the daupdater. Click on "Select dazip" and it should bring you to where your DAO is found.
9. Click on that and it will unzip.
10. Click "Install"
As a sidenote once installed it did appear on my "Enabled" in my Download Content menu in the game but never under the "Available Download Content" or "Download Progress" folders.
Thanks again RaenImrahl.
