Because they're obligated to rewrite their story just because a few people whined about it (edit: and sent them cupcakes... which is such a great way to protest). I know people that whined about the way the Lord of the Rings movies ended, saying it didn't follow the way things happened in the books. Did they rerelease them later with "expanded content" the way those people wanted it? Of course not. The truly dumb move was so-called fans (acting more like fanboys) demanding that BioWare "fix" their story content.

If you were to truly agree with him you'd be a lot more stupid, ignorant and naive than a little bit. One does not simply (do subject here) then (subject miraculously changed! ZOMG WTF HAX.!!?). But if you believe that my first sentence is true.
