Yeah I dunno.  It clearly states 400,000 squads.  A squad is, by definition, a full squad.  Did you really think 400,000 extractions of any type over the weekend was the 'challenge'?

They specified what they wanted for one, but were vague about the other.

This operation was complete BS. The first page of this thread still says "Special Circumstances: None" right after a simple statement of extractions. There is no comment on FULL extractions except by one offhanded post by a dev, on the forums which only a small percentage of people read, and was NOT listed in the splash screen that probably few people read anyway (considering the number of non reaper games I ended up in during the weekend, VERY few people). The only thing they could do worse at this point is come out and tell us that we needed a full gold extraction for the commendation pack, in which case I will quit this game, new DLC or no. I don't like wasting my time only to be screwed over.

Squad Goal: Extract at least one squad member against Reapers on Gold difficulty
Allied Goal: Extract 400,000 squads against Reapers on ANY difficulty
Special Circumstance: None

they way that words it out it meins at lest 1 member of the squad must extract so to win we needid 400,000 games with at lest 1 player getting extracted. on ether gold, silver, or bornze.

not the hole squad.

when they say squads they me at lest 1 member must live and make it to the extraction point. and we need that to hapen 400,000 times not 400,000 times for the hole squad

No they don't. Squad doesn't mean one person. It wouldn't be a squad, would it? They would've just said at least 1 squad member for the allied goal just as they did for the squad goal. They differentiated between the two. People just didn't read it well enough. Also, they posted on saturday in the forums that you needed full extraction on any difficulty. So us failing was due to people simply not reading it well enough.

it was specified earlier that any extraction will do, and it was also specified like that in the ingame splash screen.

Then why didn't they state the Squad Goal as "extract one squad against Reapers on Gold difficulty" instead of "extract at least one squad member...", if 'squad' means at least one member of the squad?  Image IPB

Did they clarify yet whether "Allied Goal: Extract 400,000 squads against Reapers on ANY difficulty" means full extraction is required?

every game you have a squad 1,2,3, or 4 players is not a squads it is a squad a squad is a group of people so by them saying Allied Goal: Extract 400,000 squads against Reapers on ANY difficulty is a way of saying that you must win 400,000 games

squad
In military terminology, a squad is a small military unit led by a non-commissioned officer (NCO)[1] that is subordinate to an infantry platoon. In countries following the British Army tradition (Australian Army, Canadian Army, and others) this organization is referred to as a section. In most armies a squad consists of eight to thirteen soldiers[2], and may be further subdivided into fireteams.

You know, usually it takes until Tuesday for them to add up all the numbers and tell us we done bad..

How interesting that in less than 12 hours, they had the entire thing tabulated what with Comicon going on... Interesting indeed.

Or maybe, just maybe, they were preparing both a success and a failure post, and accidentally posted the failure one?

Seriously, Operation Broadside was the most fun I have had on Multiplayer yet.

On Friday night, I hooked up with some guys that I play with now and again, and we threw a decent squad together to get the squad goal of extracting at least one guy. We plowed through the first nine waves pretty well. But on wave 10, three of the four of us got greased by the insta-kill Banshee embrace of creepy death. (I fell first, I suspect because a) I kinda suck and B) that Banshee had a thing for Turian Sentinels.) We had one guy left, playing as a Quarian infiltrator, who had to face a frakkin army of Banshees, Brutes and Maurders alone. To our amazement, he got the squad through the wave! It was the most epic multiplayer game I've been in. awesomesauce.

I think the allied goal was vague, and assumed a partial was all that was required.

(a) They made it clear a partial was all that was required on Gold vs reapers for the squad goal.
(B) They indicated the difference for the allied goal ( it could be any difficulty ), and then did not specifically mention that it had to be a full extraction.

So I convinced everyone I played with on Friday that only a partial on any difficulty vs reapers was required. I only saw the thread by Derek on the Forum on Saturday.

Edit: So we went after full extractions on Saturday.

They probably took it down because:
a.) Results are always posted on Tuesdays, not Mondays.
b.) The formatting was horrible.
c.) The red font made it nearly impossible to read.

Regardless of what they intended, the way it was worded clearly had many people confused. That's their fault. They should know by now that the fans need everything spelled out for them in crayon.

First reaper gold game I got in, it was a multiracial squad mass producing cans of whoopass. There was a vorcha, a krogan, a batarian, and I played an asari. Smooth as butter on FBW. Wouldn't have been my choice for a reaper gold map lol. It was a lot of fun.

To be honest, part of me wouldn't mind losing this challenge too much because having access to more medigel use means I will use more medigel. That is not a good idea lol

Incorrect. A squad (as far as full extraction is concerned) can be just one person soloing. A squad can be two or three guys with a partial extraction. It's not that we didn't read it right. It wasn't specified.

How do you figure 12 hours  if it ended sunday morning at 10 am?  more like 30 hours

The blog said it ended at 4 AM today, Rchecks, so 12 hours from then would be in about 40 minutes.

I hope that someone at Bioware picks up on this. I enjoy playing the weekend challenges and try my best to put the hours in to succeed with allied goals at least. I am sure many others do. There is a point here that there was conflicting information on this site and the mass effect site blog. The question was asked a number of times on this thread, but no clarification was given.(accept my apology if that is not so)
Surely someone at Bioware can check the multiplayer discussion and catch a promlem like this.

I accept that some queries can be answered by players themselves, ie if it is 6pm PST what time is it in the UK?.

This is different. It demanded clarification.Image IPB

We have had some form of confusion for nearly every event we have had because BioWare can't be clear on goals/times/whatever. This one alone had the ending time issue and the fact that full extractions were required for the community goal even though they weren't mentioned.

There has also been confusion in the past in regards to whether or not soloing counts, whether it counts if you join a game already in progress, what time the event starts since we seem to get the splash screen before the listed starting time, there was the issue a while back where the BioWare twitter person gave out incorrect information about the event that then had to be corrected here, etc.

They just have a rather obvious issue with clarity. For this specific one, all they had to do was edit the forum post to show the proper time, and change the community goal to say "full extractions" and it would have been fixed. The BioWare guys aren't stupid, as proved by their (mostly) great games, so I don't understand why it is so hard for them to do.

Most of the confusion hasn't really affected me much, but I still find it annoying because being clear isn't something that is hard to do. Hell, I would volunteer my services to proof-read and check for clarity on all future operation posts if I thought there was any chance of it happening.

Really?  The end time of the event was actually Monday morning and miscommunicated to the community again?  And possibly the squad goal required a full extraction when all but one source indicated only one squad member needed to be extracted?  I love the multiplayer, but the communication of these weekend events could be a lot better.  What source are we supposed to trust for the events?

And Chris said Sunday. So which is it? Becasue that's a difference of 18 hours.

I still can't believe that after all this time, BioWare still screws things up. Differing times stated, vague wording, and now potentially incorrect posting? Really now.
