BioWare is probably now in "consultation" to see if awarding the community goal would mean people buying more JEP's because they burn 6 medigels per game instead of 5. It's all down to dollars, I'm sure. Never mind if we really did 400000 full extractions, partial extractions, or whether the event finished at this time or that time, it's all down to money.

I'm sorry, if you really believe that, then why even play?:?

He's not entirely incorrect. The free DLC encourages people to purchase BioWare points to unlock content faster.

It's a model that has not just worked for this game, freemium and free-to-play business models do work from time to time. This being one of those games.

I only did about 5 reaper games over the weekend and 2 of those are for my N7 weapon. Why, you don't think BioWare is about money? The RNG nature of the shop is definitely a money-grabbing tactic designed to appeal to our gambling nature. Doesn't mean I'll drop the game, it's still fun to me even though I've ceased buying PSP's with my credit card. JEP's different, I think they're still good value for money.

@Kyerea: It's "She's not entirely incorrect."
I know it's not a big deal, but it feels funny to be referred to as "he".

Why did you even buy PSPs with a credit card in the first place? It only furthers the practice.

Buying packs with money is an option and can be obtained using other ways. I'd rather put time into this than money which I have rightly earned to put toward something I would much rather buy, like, I don't know, THE CORE GAME.

Thought the Allied goal was doomed to failure when I kept encountering players in random games who thought it was partial extraction.

I used to buy PSP's with real money because I can easily earn (with my job) AUD$4.95 in 3 minutes flat rather than 60 minutes of perfect, quick Silver games. And also because I have those gambling tendencies. But, having realised that BioWare is manipulating this, I refuse to buy PSP's out of principle.

I don't like boasting, but you did ask.

I didn't see a problem with your post at all. I'm not worried about what you make for a living. if anything, I'm more worried about college classes. But it's a good thing you realized what you were doing.

So, did we succeed or fail? I want to know cause I've been working my butt off grabbing nothing but full extractions (even on gold) all freaking weekend. No man left behind.

@Agent Stark

It depends on one's patience and how much time is worth to the player

It takes an average of 30mins to get 70k on gold,
And assuming 3/4 of the game we play are good games ( meaning, completing wave 10 successfully ), with an average use of 1 medigel, 3 rockets per full game( each costing 1k a piece, going by recruit pack prices ), It costs us 1 min to earn 1650 credits ( ( (70,000 - 4,000)*75%)/30 )
I am sure there are teams and players out there who won't use as much consumables as above, but thats just my opinion of how much an average person might use on gold.

Going by the above. it will take us approximately 60 mins of play to buy a PSP ( 99,000 / 1,650 ) on the average not counting all the frustration and hair loss if one gets disconnected on wave 9/10...etc

I'm not sure how much Bioware points go for in the states but over here in SG, it costs S$13.90 / 800 bioware points. Each PSP will therefore cost around S$ 4.17 ((13.9/800)*240)

For people with less time, money is a viable alternative for them to enjoy the game.
For people with more time or who doesn't want to spend real money in items, ingame credis will be their choice

I'm not sure how much time you have but after adding the kid, household chores and missus, i doubt many people will be able to devote a few hours of gameplay time a day...

I'm just glad Bioware gave us a choice and not do like what some games did. Eg: Ultra Rare Weapons can only be bought using real money.

And lets face the hard fact. Companies exist to maximise profit. I know we'd all be glad if we can buy ME3 for Free and play for Free without any microtransactions ingame whatsoever, but then again i'll wonder, how are the developers gonna get paid?

I enjoy ME3 tremendously and would like the developers to continue producing more games of such calibre!

There's a reason these DLC packs are free. Bioware is making a lot of money with the packs thy are selling, I've talked to different people during multiplayer and dozens of them have at least spent over $100 on the packs. I bet we would be surprised as hell to know how much they are making. I would bet they will make at least a million dollars during the next few days, people will buy these packs to try to get the new characters before anyone else does.

@ Eugenesys

Good to see another .sg player in here.

Peronsally that not only you are right on that point that the nature of the supply packs store is just out to maximise profit otherwise, why not just simply put out an "ala carte" menu, so that we can say buy only Medigels, Rockets, or that particular weapon of choice. But, nooooo, it has to be a random gamble.

Anyways, off to work I go, and hope to get the DLC later.

Seeing as they said at least 1 member for the squad, but they never said ALL members for the allied, wouldn't that mean that partial and full extractions should have counted? You're still a squad with 2 people, albeit at half force. I think they need to check their numbers again, or apologize for always being so vague and slow at clarifying when asked what exactly they meant (or which contradictory thing they said is true).

I mean, weren't we unable to kill a million banshees? And we failed by a pretty significant margin IIRC. There are more than 3 banshees per game even on bronze. Why would we ever think 400k FULL extractions on reapers was ever attainable when we couldn't even kill all the banshees in that many games, let alone reach full extraction?

The more I read the forums about events the more I get the feeling that the Mass Effect employers needs to hire a good editor for their posts and ideas. One good editor could've prevented a lot of confusion with these events.

seems you're pretty slow on this :D

playing silver in ~15/16 mins, depending on team and those mini missions.
gold finished on ~22/23 max.

1.) I refuse - out right refuse to buy packs I could earn for free. It sickens me to see five year old kids playing this game and buying them up - playing on gold with a level 30 and having zero team work abilities or desires. This is why I didn't want Multi-player in Mass Effect 3 - too many idiots.

2.) I can't even play Mass Effect 3 online 50% of the time. It is the only game that actually disconnects me from Xbox Live every so many minutes. I've lost countless equipment upgrades due to a disconnection. I've tried all of my other games and so far only Mass Effect 3 drives my Xbox insane to the point where it kicks me off and back on instantly. Fix it EA/Bioware - fix it now.

It is good to have a mix of players who play for credits and those who pay. Without the latter, we will not be getting all the free DLCs. I contributed USD 20 when I first started out for 10 spectre packs and it was money well spent. Got an upgrade for my Widow.

Hi guys, just putting in my two pennies
first of all I agree that the mission objectives were a little ambiguous but I played for full extractions to be on the safe side.
Second this is still an RPG even in MP unless I am mistaken, so sometimes storylines don't allow for a win I for one am not too worries about the medigel cap increase (never had an increase card so only carry 2 into battle anyway) but always winning gets a little stale so it will encourage me to do better for the next OP.
Personally I thought this was a great mission having never attempted gold got my first match with some less experienced players and wiped on wave 3 hack, second attempt changed lobbies and got 2 players extracted (One of them was ME! :D).
So I say well done BW even if it was fixed to lose made me more likely to give gold a go till I am good enough to help others ready for the next OP hope squad isn't platinum only though............
