The fact is, they didn't specify full or partial. Military briefings (even play ones) tend to be explicit as possible and if they didn't specify that only full extractions count, I see no reason to take it as given.

They only needed to include one additional word ("full") to make this explicit. A partial extraction is an extraction. If full was a requirement, then this was a failure of communication.

It says: Squad goal: extract at least 1 squad member.   (so partial or last man is just fine)
             Allied Goal: extract 400,000 squads against reapers on any difficulty. (again, sole survivor or partial is considered an extraction and would count)

I don't think so, the description mentioned that the "common goal is to develop a sustainable fighting method with a minimal loss of life." That suggests to me that they wanted full extractions. Well, no matter, the event is done and we'll find out if we made it or not in a bit. So, I'm just willing to agree to disagree. If we made it, cool; if not, bummer. Just hope BW is more clear next time with what they want, right?

Actually it was 3,000,000.

Whatever, point is we failed and paid the price for it with random Banshees spawning. It did however make Gold matches more interesting that weekend though.

Any extraction that contributes toward the allied goal must be a FULL extraction.  It doesn't seem like a lot of people are aware of this, so I'm not sure if we got enough.

I think because we failed, all Reaper type enemy will come alongside with whatever Cerberus or Gethh enemy that we choose in the game before matches. That would become a mini Platinum Difficulty.

If we didn't make it they should be kind. It was pretty vague in my opinion that we had to have full extractions. I for one assumed that because they didn't specify otherwise we just had to have one person standing like all the other challenges.
However, the random banshee spawning was hilarious so I'm fine with that. Would have liked to get a 6th medigel tho, would be useful for platinum.

find out? I don't think any  of us need to "find out" whether we made it or not. We all know the answer to that question. There's no freaking way we made this. If we did, we have to throw it to the silvers, cause all of the bronze dudes were in gold screwing everyone up.

I'm thinking that with all the persistent server issues, there was a lot of traffic this weekend....choosing to see the thermal clip as half full....we had to make it with all of that traffic....

I disagree. Because of the squad goal, many players (specifically bronze) were playing on gold level and having a hard time doing it, which limited the amount of bronze players getting full extractions (because let's face it, a bronze player is going to have a harder time on gold than a silver player is, thus they take longer to succeed) and also screwed all hopes of gold being able to carry us through because gold matches were littered with bronze players. That leaves it up to the silver players that succeeded to try to get the most full extractions. Also, many players didn't know that full extraction was necessary until halfway through the event, so that limited our extractions. (like someone said earlier, we should be striving for full extraction anyways. But many people are lazy and just don't care. I played a match the other day where we could have gotten full extraction, but the guy just sat there and kept sniping, not even caring about extraction.) Just because we had a lot of traffic doesn't mean everyone was playing reapers, which also takes away from that. Remember that Cerberus and Geth, being easier, are played much more often than Reapers, which are probably only played 1/5 of the time, if that. All of those variables added up make our chances of success slim. If we succeed, I will truly be astonished.

On Friday I had 10 bronze matches with only three full extractions. May be the information was not spread widely enough, but usually my teams have a better time at extracting. And when I went for the gold objective it was a real havoc. 5 matches with me, a bronze player, with highest score?! And yet no successful extraction, no use of rockets and an occasional medigel... May be some of the Goldie guys should write "How to play Gold for dummies". Otherwise I consider this weekend rather unbalanced as difficulty for the community. I would consider it normal both goals to be achievable by the majority of players.

As far as the Allied Goal, I would say the real question is how many full extractions do we get on a non-Operation weekend? Is that listed somewhere? I expect more would play on Operation weekends, and I am one of them, so I should add the the average weekend numbers. I also know some people weren't specifying Reapers in the matches they hosted, so I would end up sometimes dropping into Geth and Cerberus matches.

I also spent a lot of time trying to get a Squad Goal, and as a Silver player, there were several wasted attempts that I could have been racking up full extractions.

I don't know about others but with most groups that I play with I usually announce the 30 second mark... occassionally the 20 if I'm busy at the 30 second mark.

Even then I've seen players sit outside of it. Reality is that they can't make that 10k up shooting there. Things like Banshee's and Phantoms give the most if your good... somewhere around 1.1k They aren't something your going to be killing 8 or 9 or 10 of in 20 seconds. But that doesn't seem to matter to some people.

I'm not a gold player, by any means. I play bronze and silver. But I stayed with bronze for the entire weekend just to not mess it up for the other players. What astonished me was that in many cases there were people who deliberately did not stand in the extraction zone. I mean, they were across the map shooting at spawning cannibals. So I don't know if we made it, considering I got a ton of partial, but not so many full extractions.

Hate to be negative, but I just don't see us succeeding in this one, due to sheer numbers. 400,000 full extractions is A LOT. Most people are saying here that most of their games did not even get full extractions, and those are the games that even made it to wave 11 (the majority of gold games would be failures due to the influx of bronze players doing multiple tries). That means if only a small fraction of games were full extractions, we would have had to play MANY MILLIONS of games to even approach that. We couldn't even get the 3,000,000 banshees on Operation Silencer, and you have to think there were at least a few getting killed every game even if most games were failures.
