This is what it really should read now given the fact BioWare dropped the ball, big time. I've tried to emulate Chris’ style of writing, but probably failed

Soldiers of the Milky Way –
Because of the cost in lives associated with this war, we decided to reexamine the results from Operation Broadside. Upon reexamining the battlefield intel, we have discovered that the first dispatch was in error. We did more damage at less cost that previous intel. While we still lost soldiers, we still managed to do a lot of damage. Had we not reexamined the amount of damage done, we probably would have gone on believing the incomplete intel that we previously examined.
We did suffer losses, but those losses were not in vain as previously believed. While we can call the
operation a success, we can ill afford another one like it soon. We will need to need to get access to enemy intel soon to made sure that our success doesn’t turn against us. We may have succeeded in inflicting damage with multiple races, but the complexity almost lead us to defeat. We need to remember that we are all in this together and we cannot afford to continue old grudges, and we ill afford leave this many people behind again.
Focus on that team work, and keep up the good work.
