If this has no effect on the endings (and no +500 war assets doesn't count as "effect on the endings") than what's the point ? I'll probably skip it if that's the case.

Lore?  Insight into something we know next to nothing about?  Flavor text?

I swear it's like people don't like the setting!

You don't understand because you like the endings - for those folks who hate the endings (and I can only speak for myself here), why would we pay for something which doesn't change that aspect of the game we dislike? I've said all along that if DLC takes place after ME3, I would consider it, and if it takes place before the ending of ME3 I won't even think about it unless it changes the endings. You like the endings, fine - why would you expect those people who dislike the endings to want to buy this?

I could actually see this happening, being that BioWare is trying to appeal to everyone now, and they are insisting that the EC shouldn't change anyone's views on IT.

I mean really, at most I could see Shepard going:

"So, your creators would be <insert name here>?" or something like "Tell me about Harbinger."

You can't change the Catalyst's mind remember?

The whole Geth-Quarian arc proved the thing fallable, but that was never brought up in conversation with Casper, so I don't see the leviathan adding anything new to that conversation.

Notice how we didn't have the option to mention that even in the EC. I think the writers knew it would screw up the whole thing if you could contradict Casper like that. Instead they just want us to blindly roll with everything he says. Sad really.

Because the endings shouldn't take away from your enjoyment of DLC that has nothing to do with it?

Unless you're implying the endings make everything related to Mass Effect unplayable, and in that case you're just overexaggerating.

All the ending-haters knew Bioware wasn't going to rewrite the endings.  You knew that EC wasn't going to drastically alter them either.

That you complain they didn't "fix" anything despite Bioware being VERY clear about what was happening?  And they already outright stated they weren't doing any more DLC related to the endings.  EC is all you get.

Yeah, that was the only thing I felt was really missing from the new Catalyst dialogue, and that was something most people were asking for so, I imagine they did it for the reasons you just said.

The endings took away a lot of people's enjoyment from ME3 as a whole, and ruined the game and even the franchise's replay value for some. How is DLC different?

I think the problem is that people actually liked the lore and setting from ME1 and ME2. IMO, ME3 drastically altered that by ruining the reapers as villians, and ignoring older points of lore that could have added to the storyline. . . that or they outright retconned them.

IMO, I enjoyed not knowing anything about the reapers other than they wanted to harvest us to produce more of themselves. I didn't care where they came from, who made them, or that they secretly were care-bears out to save life as we know it by slaughtering life everywhere they went.

agree completely, still buying dlc though because, why the hell not? I can live with a  crap ending

People thought and swore up and down that Javik had to be a big deal.

Except he wasn't.  He was interesting flavor text and depth-adding to the setting and lore, but hardly a game-changer.

Leviathan will likely be the same thing.  It won't drastically alter the game.  It'll add something interesting, but your game won't be "less" without him/it.

Also, the TLK files actually DID make allowances for confronting the Catalyst about Leviathan.  But there's no guarantee it'll change things.

It has to at least finally prove to Starbrat that it is an idiot. This is fundamental to Starbrats plan, to the entire premise of the game, how can you even compare Javik DLC to it?

It has to be more than that idiot AI simply saying: " well I can't be right all the time." If it isn't, no sale here. I'm done enduring half-assed content.

It was never implied to be infallible in the first place.

Pay attention to the story, it claims to know for certain that organics will be wiped out by synthetics, all without presenting evidence which it can't because nothing can predict the future, and providing evidence for events which have not yet happened is impossible. It is claiming infallibility, since it clearly thinks it can predict the future.

Because arguing the point wouldn't change his mind.  Shepard's ridiculous conversation powers don't work on him.  Even if you argue with him over the endings (Which you CAN do) it doesn't sway him in the slightest.  Bringing up the Quarian/Geth thing would likely just make him shrug and go "So?"

I never expected them to rewrite the endings - I don't like them, period. And I'm not going to give them anymore money ... period. I'm basically speaking with my wallet. They can stick to their claim of artistic integrity, etc. and I'll stick to my stance of not giving them any money ...

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I know it's been proven wrong, and this is why I won't be purchasing if this is just swept under the carpet as well.

Oh that's a great counter argument...

"So?"

In the hands of better writers, Shepard absolutely could've contradicted that fool.

That's exactly what I'm saying - I've tried to play through ME2 and ME3 a half dozen times now and I can't bring myself to do it. I give up after a few missions. I will play ME3 MP from time to time, but I can't do the SP anymore

Thinking about how much stuff concerning the established lore already lies under that carpet it is getting hard to walk straight in Bioware's living room I guess...

There will be a Omgea DLC just not yet mostly due to the fact that it was removed from the main game

And? The Catalyst is an AI with a certain set of programming. Arguing in circles won't change his mind. You can't do it in the EC, it ALWAYS boils down to "Pick an option or the Cycle continues"

There's NO reason for it to change or have a different outcome because of a Rogue Reaper.

I can easily see Shepard bringing up Leviathan and the Catalyst basically going "Oh yeah, that guy." and just shrugging again.

Again, you're NOT going to be able to shout the Catalyst down.
