Completed ME1 today and went to carry the save over to 2 but its not showing up in the import screen

I can see about 13 saves most of which ive long since deleted. Ive got a save file just before you open pick save or let the council die so is it worth reloading that and trying again?

Is it possible to remove all the imports in no longer want?

The easiest thing to do would be just to replay the final part of ME so the hidden importable file save is generated.

Those 13 saves you mention should be games you've completed in the past, and they are not deleted manually either within the game or entering the HDD itself. They are hidden file saves for a reason.

It is possible to remove those saves as I recall there is a thread floating about covering it; though I recall it seems a bit fiddly to do so.

EDIT: courtesy of Janus who wrote this article about deleting those files.

Ive tried replaying the last mission a couple times and it just will not show up.

Pain in the arse because this is the first time ive actually finished the whole game 100%

Hm...I think I read somewhere that there is a limit to how many import files are possible. You mentioned 13 in your original post, so I half suspect that you may have hit a limit.

Refer to the link in my previous post to see if you can remove the unwanted hidden save files; play the last part again; and then see if it a file pops up for you to import. That's all I can think of to be honest.

So yeah i tried that but nope it wont work. What a dumb idea to have a import limit and not allow us to delete imports.

Start the Mass Effect 2 Launcher and hit the 'Configure' option. Hit the option for 'Save Games' and it will give you a button to 'Copy Mass Effect 1 Save Games'. Your save folder is typically going to be under //"Your User Name"/My Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Save. Select the folder and hit ok. When you get in game you should be able to import your game.
Good Luck.

That sounds like a PC solution rather than a 360 solution, though help is appreciated.

I suspect that BioWare hadn't anticipated players to complete that many games of ME (thus generating that many hidden save files). The idea of a limit on saves is speculation on my part.

Yeah sadly that wont work on the 360 version.

Tried again and it looks like the import feature is now useless for me unless i format my HD which means losing everything.

Poor Bioware...****** poor.

The end game save will only work if you play ME2 on the same Xbox 360 as you completed ME1 on. Since the likelihood is that you aren't then the only way to get round it is to load up the ME1 save game and finish the game again on your current Xbox 360. This should then allow you to import your character into ME2.

So i'm guessing that if you played and beat ME1 on a different Xbox and for some reason you have a new 360 and you're trying to import your save to ME2 that may be the problem if so redo your fight with Saren. Other then that i don't know what's wrong.

No ive had my slim since it launched and have imported saves before its just now the game seems to have decided ive imported enough and wont let me import anymore.

Even saves from my original console have been imported with no problems. The problem is now that now it seems that unless i format my entire HD and lose EVERYTHING i wont be able to import any saves.

This is extra annoying in this case because this is the first time i finished it 100%

I suppose it depends on what you have available to you to use, and how far you're willing to go. What I have in mind is having something like external storage (like a 360 formatted USB stick) and transferring save files to it before reformatting the HDD.

The things I would note is that you can always redownload dlcs and other such content again, though the process may be lengthy depending what you have; and that you connect to XBox Live before you do a reformat so your Gamertag information (such as unlocked achievements) is up to date (not an issue if your console is always connected).

Nope ive got too much content and im not the only one who uses it so unless Bioware have a better way to fix it no ME game will go in my console again.

That's all the suggestions I have given what you seemed to suggest you were willing to do.

Have you tried EA support by any chance? (I don't hold too much hope there, but it is worth checking at the very least.)

Copy the save file and put it into the ME2 saves folder in a folder you call ME1

Do I Have to wait for the credits to finish rolling before the file is generated?

Seems reformatting the HD is the only way to sort it but that then means having to re download everything.
