I really dont understand why some people can't see why girls would be upset over this though. There is now *no* possibility to be able to bear a child for the man they love.

I'm particularly upset because I have fertility issues in real life and this just mirrors my own struggles.  My husband and I have been trying for a baby for the past two years with no luck.

apparently our nobility doesn't even matter only Alistair's

That is because he is royal, not noble.

Sounds like wishful thinking to try to change a game designer's mind on what they should do with their characters, a little arrogant even. While I could certainly want it to be so, it would be no more false than a lot of male gamers wishing Alistair is gay.

You seriously thought I was attempting to change David's mind? I merely said that his working hypothesis needn't be the player's.  I understand that we're not going to encounter children of two Wardens in future games. I'm only saying that I've encountered nothing in-game that decisively answers the question. In DA2 perhaps there will be a new stanza of the Chant of Light to dash the dreams of future Wardens, but I don't think our characters, who don't read Internet forums, have been given reason in-game to abandon all hope. Reason for very low expectations, yes. Certainty, no. To some degree I suppose it depends on your views on character knowledge vs. player knowledge in RP.

Write it anyway? Gaider just mentioned it's not possible to do it naturally but with a wave of a wand and a sprinkle of some dragon-liver-stones, hey, who can say?

I find the prospect of NOT breeding to be one of the many benefits of hooking up with Alistair. I rather hate kids.

Alistair would be out of luck marrying Anora as well, since rumor has it, and evidence suggests, she is probably sterile as well. Looks like Morrigan was his only chance, really.

True that. I can't wait to get married, granted the planning would be done by someone else. I hate doing girly things like that. But I have already told my mother children will probably never happen. Ever. I don't want to deal with that. However that's just personal.

Greer however...

I salute your devious cunning ser!

Ah, I feel like that small little kitten whose owner puts the string righ in front of their faces, dangling it only to pull it away last second, leaving me confused and befuddled, only to have the same thing happen again and again.

But seriously, I'm taking the first post as law. It was pretty clear cut that 2 Grey Wardens together, or in the case of Alistair/female PC, no kids are happening.

The second one seemed like more of a "Cheer up, it's not that bad" kind of post than one that gives an alternate solution. I really don't expect my female pc to be happy now, other than when she is dead, lol. But thanks for the sentiment anyway David. :)

I feel for you. I can see how it would be a blow to have not only it happen in real life but your playthrough as well.

Nothing quite like torturing poor, defenceless kittens and posting the video on youtube to warm the deep, dark ****les of my non-existent heart.

Word of law, they can't do it, together, naturally. If she was a stubborn bird, she'd probably go for that little extra spice she might've picked up at the Circle in Tevinter that helps with... ahem, bun-making.

Don't forget that there have been very few female wardens. Maybe this is why two wardens have never produced an heir

Also don't forget the broodmother. Codex says she can produse up to a thousand young. So mild mild taint = sterility but strong taint = uber fertility? That doesnt make sense.

Have y'all forgotten about a thing called DNA. If the taint isn't in their DNA maybe they can still have kids. But I thought the ritual with Morigan helped.

Average mediaval age is 20-30 because child death pulls the average down. People in the medieval ages got almost as old as we do now, if they survived childhood.

No, they didn't.  The absence of any significant health care saw to that.

Not necessarily, it's not like marrying Alistair is an unhappy ending, or you could just not make him king at all and have your happy ending that way. But, being told your female PC absolutely cannot have Alistair's kid is a serious downer, and if you're playing someone who's putting the good of the realm in front of everything else, marrying Alistair to become queen suddenly seems not so responsible. If he marries Anora, there's at least the possibility there will be an heir to the throne and you can feel less guilty about essentially backstabbing Anora >.> or if you put him on the throne by himself, he can worry about making an heir himself :|
Yes, there is a meta-gaming aspect to this, since you are not told this specifically in game, so it's not like the character necessarily knows this.. but I've always felt kind of bad kicking Anora to the curb so it may change my gameplay if I do another human noble..

Or I can take the easy route and just off myself with the Archdemon. Nothing like having all the glory Cailin and Jory wanted.

Of course my pc is going to keep trying, but that doesn't make the real me any less sad for her. There's a difference between can't happen (as in absolute), and hasn't happened yet (as in uncertain). It just seem like between the two, the former was pointed as the 'correct' option.

Well the "Dev" should be listening the gamers/fans and let us make that choice. That is what this game is all about. CHOICES!

30 years? Most marriages last well below that. 30 years is enough to marry twice for a long happy while each, get several grownup children and even grandchildren, as well as make several nice little mistakes on the side. I'm not even 30 myself, and to me 30 years seems like more life than I'd ever need. And that's not some lame depression talking.

At least you still get nookie on the side. Morrigan's love is blue-ballsville from here to endsville, man. That s**t ain't good fer ya.
Gaider has pulled a masterful stroke. We all know his dark love of the tangy salt tears of his fans but it seems like he's out for the big haul today.
