So? Have a miracle happen. Maybe it was Andrastes ashes (you kept a bit of them). Maybe the Maker had a hand? Maybe the Old gods? Maybe it was 1 in a billion chance and it still happened. You don't have to explain it. Leave it a mistey in the fanfic...

Isn't it also canon that a Grey wardens child carries no taint? And yet Morrigans rituals nets one. If one magical ritual can screw the rules, so can another. A WIZZARD DID IT!!!!

so are all female pcs planning to top themselves to arch demon now they can't have a child with their love?

Not necessarily, it's not like marrying Alistair is an unhappy ending, or you could just not make him king at all and have your happy ending that way. But, being told your female PC absolutely cannot have Alistair's kid is a serious downer, and if you're playing someone who's putting the good of the realm in front of everything else, marrying Alistair to become queen suddenly seems not so responsible. If he marries Anora, there's at least the possibility there will be an heir to the throne and you can feel less guilty about essentially backstabbing Anora >.> or if you put him on the throne by himself, he can worry about making an heir himself :|
Yes, there is a meta-gaming aspect to this, since you are not told this specifically in game, so it's not like the character necessarily knows this.. but I've always felt kind of bad kicking Anora to the curb so it may change my gameplay if I do another human noble..

This was the point i was trying to say in my OP i just didn't explain it properly really

Going by the game, you could reasonably say that you as a female PC have about as much chance as Anora conceiving a child with Alistair, since the slim chance of two Grey Wardens having kids is probably about equal to possibly-barren Anora's having a Grey Warden's kid. Therefore, it's reasonable to allow your character to take the throne if this is something you're taking into consideration. However, adding in what David Gaider said in this thread, Anora's slim chance of having a child with Alistair is greater than your PC's zilch chance of having one. So it's pretty much whether or not you decide to take this information into account with your playthrough.

Or I can take the easy route and just off myself with the Archdemon. Nothing like having all the glory Cailin and Jory wanted.

Of course my pc is going to keep trying, but that doesn't make the real me any less sad for her. There's a difference between can't happen (as in absolute), and hasn't happened yet (as in uncertain). It just seem like between the two, the former was pointed as the 'correct' option.

At least you still get nookie on the side. Morrigan's love is blue-ballsville from here to endsville, man. That s**t ain't good fer ya.
Gaider has pulled a masterful stroke. We all know his dark love of the tangy salt tears of his fans but it seems like he's out for the big haul today.

Lol, yeah, but then again nothing is stopping you from having a few side dishes along the road to finding morrigan now, is there?

Those who are depressed by this can also read The Calling; maybe your Queen PC can find a handy amulet the way Fiona did!

Yeah i see what you mean if your roleplayer you wouldn't know any of this information in game guess some of you are going to have to try ignore this and keep you roleplaying in game as if you did not know somehow.

Ah, I feel like that small little kitten whose owner puts the string righ in front of their faces, dangling it only to pull it away last second, leaving me confused and befuddled, only to have the same thing happen again and again.

But seriously, I'm taking the first post as law. It was pretty clear cut that 2 Grey Wardens together, or in the case of Alistair/female PC, no kids are happening.

The second one seemed like more of a "Cheer up, it's not that bad" kind of post than one that gives an alternate solution. I really don't expect my female pc to be happy now, other than when she is dead, lol. But thanks for the sentiment anyway David. :)

I'll point out that Alistair does bring this up, and in fact breaks up with a female player because he feels it's his duty to bear children -- unless she convinces him that there are more important things, like being happy.

If being able to marry the man you love is insufficient because you must also bear his children in order for you to be happy, then sure. I guess you'll be unhappy -- barring some kind of unforeseen circumstance occuring.

And my second post was not a pat-pat on the poster's head to make her feel better... there are always ways that these sorts of rules can get circumvented. Alistair did not, after all, say to you "two Grey Wardens cannot have children, except for the extremely rare possibility of them recovering the Holy Elixir of Saradesh or somehow purging their blood of the taint through unknown sorts of blood magic... but normally? Not a chance."

As far as anyone (including Alistair) knows, under normal circumstances two Grey Wardens cannot have children with each other. I didn't mention unknown exceptions because they're unknown -- that should just be assumed. And that's just the way it is.

I think they just gutted because Alistair implies that they might have a slight chance and you said theres no chance meaning it gone from 10% chance to 0 lol

I guess I tend to take this issue more personally than others because of my own fertility problems. Sometimes I would like to not be reminded of my fertility issues, but when something like this happens in a game, it seems a little more like a knife to the gut to me. Aren't video games supposed to be a form of escapism, a way to forget your problems and not to be reminded of them?

That is unfortunate, and I'm very sorry for your condition, but it is hardly the game's fault for reminding you of painful real life situations, after all. Especially not a game that has child killing, mother-sacrificing, demon-sexing in it.
