What's the incentive to buy the DLC, when we know the game ends the way it does?

The thing about ME 2 was that it ended on a great note, Shepard kicking Reaper ass after doing the awesome suicide mission and finally doing his walk of awesomess and have his crew nod at him, like he's the ****.

So you're left more hungry for more, since it ends on such an awesome note. That's why I bought the DLC for ME 2, in ME 3, I feel no hunger.

...I didn't feel that way in ME2 at all.  Sure, it was a nice ending, but I got the DLC because I wanted more story.  And I got what I paid for.

It's the same reason I'll buy ME3 DLC.  More story.

So, because the trilogy ends, you don't care about the rest of the setting?

I see.

draco i hate the endings as much as you do but f*ck it, why let that get in the way of some good backstory, there's no point in dragging out the hate over ten minutes of crap when the rest of the game is still pretty good, even if the other 2 are better in my eyes.

Good for you, I cannot ignore it though. You see, Mass Effect for me is essentially Shepard. Thinking how Shepard's character is violated, ignored and even punished in the end I cannot ignore. It overshadows not only ME3, but the entire series, everything I loved about Shepard is shattered in the end for me, and therefore the ending destroys all the love I had for the franchise...

It made me sad, angry, and the fact I still write here is merely a proof how much I liked the franchise, I cannot let go for good, and need a vent for my anger of how Bioware ended their own franchise not with a big bang, but a silly multi-coloured poof...

Storytelling? Lore? More time in the universe? Fun?

Also, who knows: the DLC might alter the context of the endings without physically changing them.

The choices they make... I just don't understand their logic.

Since the end of the story is well and truly locked away, I fail to see what could possibly motivate me to buy. If they had employed a strategy where every piece of post-game story content resulted in more options relevant to the conclusion, DLC would be much more interesting.

I do think that sales will be considerably lower than was the case for the previous games.

After being heavily disappointed by Bioware's storytelling in this instance, I couldn't care less for it.

I used the word "entitled" because you have the expectation that every piece of DLC has some sweeping impact on the story, a trend that did NOT happen in the last two games.

If you don't want to see more of the story unveiled, meet new characters and experience new threats/triumphs then by all means don't buy any DLC. But there are a lot of people who DO want to do these things regardless of how the game ends. For us it's not just the destination but the journey we take that matters.

And behold, unrealistic and entitled expectations.

Entitled? I just stated opinion and because of that, I'm entitled?

How? Did I demand anything?

Jackass.

I'd be quite excited for an interesting piece of standalone DLC set during the game. Unfortunately this sounds truly atrocious from what little info that has been made available.

Don't know if that's supposed to be an insult or what... You may not feel the same but obviously I'm not alone in how I feel. I don't need to know that Shepard is alive at the end to enjoy what happens before that.

To each his own. But I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss new content, since there's no telling who will be writing it and how they'll approach it.

Same thing I tell myself every time I even consider it.

I don't want to see all this awesome dlc, and then look around the corner, and there is the path into a giant black-hole that is the ending.

Just not even going to bother.

More story? Duh. I could care less if it associated with the ending.

On the other side of the coin, it won't become better when people who actually purchase and enjoy the DLC are considered "apologists" and "drones".

In this thread, I was called entitled for having a negative opinion on a product.

I did not see anyone with an opinion to the contrary being called an "apologist" or "drone".
