Well we have freed all the slaves but when I returned to the Copper Coronet Hendak was not there and the quest is still open in my journal.  Also for some or other reason I was not able to sleep at the inn.  I went back to the slave quarters to see if I missed anything and all the slavers were dead.  Apparently I am supposed to get a reward from Hendak to close the quest but he has disappeared (though the dialogue says I get the discount he promised).  I went and slept elsewhere and can now also sleep at the Copper Coronet but don't seem to be able to complete this quest.  Any suggestions?

Hendak normally duels Letithan. Did Hendak win? Was he killed by accident, either by you or somehow by Letithan? Because if dead, he naturally won't be able to give you the reward...

Possibly spawning Hendak via the CLUAConsole after enabling cheats and then talking to him would do what you want. There might be other variables, I don't know for sure, so there would be no guarantee that would work but if it's important to you, might be worth the attempt.

1. Hendak moves around... I once found him in the top room with the pros.
2. More info please... What slaves did you free, the ones in the slave ship or just the ones at the inn?
3. Are mods installed... I know Amber adds an extra part to this quest.

After you free him Hendak gives you another quest to clear the slavers from the slaver stockade, is this perhaps the one you see in your journal?

Bernard is the shopkeeper in this area regardless of whether Hendak or Leithan survive their fight. His inventory also changes after you free the slaves, check if there's a throwing axe called azure edge in his stock or not.

Okay, I freed Hendak, he fought Letithan(spelling?) and won and he sent me through the sewers to rescue the children on the ship stockade. I rescued and free the children and had a big battle with a group of enemies including a couple of mages. I seem to recall that there was a 2nd area nearer the exit with at least 1 strong enemy but it did not materialise although I wandered around that ship for ages. I decided it must have been a false memory (I played this game about 4 years ago) and went back to the Copper Coronet and searched for Hendak who is missing. Was I right about a missing strong enemy on the ship - I don't mean the lizards.

Both quests are still in my journal as incomplete ie to free Hendak and the other slaves.  I might have to do this again - I have a vague recollection of having to redo this quest last time because of something I did in the wrong order.

This seems relevant www.gamefaqs.com/boards/258273-/56089268

Silly question, do you have the official patch?

Did you kill the guard at the "front" (stairs) entrance to the ship? He's also part of the gang.

Okay, I have no mods installed, when I went back I found the guard in the front stairs and killed him. Also I don't think I have any patches installed. I have gone back to the part before I liberated the slaves and I will see if I can find a patch and download it before I continue - hopefully something will come right as I hate having incomplete quests.

If you've now killed the guard, try talking to Hendak again. I don't know if you can download a Major patch without disrupting your ongoing run.

No, he still wasn't there after killing the guard - that's why I am replayig. Am looking for the latest patch.

If all else fails, try looking all over the Copper Coronet. Now that Hendak owns the joint, he might be roaming around checking beer barrels, the black lotus supply and figuring out what to do with the gladiator and beast cells.

promise you I have looked everywhere - am now downloading the patch - I recall I had a similar problem last time I played but have no clue how I sorted it out.

For the quest... sometimes a bad guy will ran away into the sewers so check there as well.

Patching is required (not optional) to play the game, if you have the GoG version then your game is already patched. The game engine works on variables that are stored in your game save files & if you didn’t patch then these will be buggered... I’d start a new patched game instead of just patching half way through or you’ll regret it later.

I have gone too far into the game - I am playing with the 4 in 1 boxed set (don't know what you mean by GoG version) - so far so good - have loaded the patch and lets hope I haven't mucked up anything. I am continuing and it seems to be playing - will post if I get to the end of the quest and it is sorted out.

Okay, all finished and Hendak was there and the quest is out of my journal. I don't really know what did the trick because this time I played things differently - I did not leave the area to rest (in order to get my spells back) so none of the slavers could slip out behind my back - I also had loaded the patch and (so far) don't seem to be suffering for having loaded it at this point.
