Is there a logical reason they shouldn't be using variants of established gear? I can't think of any.
Well...
98% of other games actually add totally new models with the DLC they add.
Especially with characters.
Sure Gears of War 3 has the Elite Theron that was just a re-color... but they also have the Marauders and Hunters which were totally new and awesome.
Even the Krysae was a re-hash of the Phaeston...
People want things that look new and interesting. Not the same old thing only this time it is re-colored black and red.

They are getting kinda lame on the whole "Re-hash existing models" thing though...
I can name each piece of armor from single player on all those characters other than the Adept and the Soldier.
The Engineer is basically James Vega only a girl... -.-
Sentinel is Inferno armor...mixed with a few different single player pieces.
Infiltrator is re-hashed phantom.
Vanguard is the standard issue chest plate with new shoulder blades and a smaller Kai-leng cape.
The pistol is a Phalanx and Disciple mixed.... I could do that it in photshop in about 15 seconds. Very cheesy.
Don't whine on something that is FREE... If you want something better, go play some other game...
That's why I am playing Battlefield 3 instead of Mass Effect...
I happily payed $50 for Premium on Battlefield because I knew it wouldn't suck.
You get what you pay for.

(Sentinel) N7 Paladin: Snap Freeze, Incinerate, Energy Drain
Paladin: "The Paladin carries a powerful omni-shield onto the
battlefield to block enemy fire. The Paladin also uses the shield as a
heavy-melee weapon that, when modified with incindiery or cryo upgrades,
creates a devastating combination attack."
I call BS. First off, there's no power tree mentioned in the post that has to do with the supposed omni-shield. It could have to do with a passive, but since other passives were mentioned in the post, I doubt it.
Also, no Biotic abilities on the Sentinel. Unless Snap Freeze is a biotic ability, somehow, I wouldn't take anything mentioned in this post as fact.
Of course, hopefully I'm wrong and we've got free DLC a week from now, but with the information shown here being somewhat contradictory, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

If Platinum isn't too much harder than Gold. I'd rather continue on Gold if it means I can actually get credits.

If it takes 48 hours for me to unlock the Ultra Rares like it is now... then they are actually costing me money.
Not free.

Some of us have lives and want to spend them...OUTSIDE. *Gasp*
So in that way they are forcing people like me to spend banana dollars to get new gear since it's extemely rare and most people end up getting the same thing over and over again.

This goes with the Extended Cut as well. I waited for three months for them to release DLC that would explain the ending better, and I thought it was worth it. The free soundtrack is also very nice and worth the download. Or are you stingy on internet usage too?

So if I were to take the day off work when a DLC or the day after a midnight release of a game came out and play all day to unlock something... only to find out that the random store system rips me off and gives me absolutely nothing as usual... then that was not a waste of potential money?
For the amount of money I would waste on taking a day off work and earning absolutely nothing, I could have bought a $60 DLC and had all the content instantly.
Random store systems are the dumbest thing I have ever head. Especially in a game.

You should just be glad that at least we're getting some more variety in the game.
Yes the game is not perfect, yes it uses micro-transactions (its the latest thing, y'know.). And Yes, it's fun. Its these arguments that get threads closed. Would you rather have this information being talked about and available for others to readily see?
Or would you like to continue slinging banana peels at each other? I'm sure the answer is obvious so...enjoy your little argument about something hardly relevant to the new content!
