real original designs guys!
This. Again.
Duh, lol? Of course they reused original design for them, and, personally I think they did quite a good job with it.
Like that, they are still being part of the Mass Effect universe, while having an "unique" feeling about it.
Always liked the helmet from the pilot in the space battle cinematic, so having the possibility to finally use it please me.
Also, the "Engineer with a shotgun" prove you didn't actually look under the helmet, since the armor is totally different, and actually makes me think to the James Vega alternative outfit but female version.
Well anyway, I am personally pleased with these choice of designs.
I'm sorry, but that Demolisher looks exactly like a Cerberus Combat Engineer had a sex change.

Yeah seriously! Those coattails look so stupid. He's not even wearing a coat, they just look awkward and out of place.

I like to refer to it as an ass-cape. Makes his presence much more enjoyable.

Not really. She's got smaller arms, smaller waist, bigger hips and boobs.

So do I, but I being able to point out blatant palette swaps like this is a little bit ridiculous.
Not to mention that the Typhoon LMG looks like a wierd hybrid between the Arc Projector from ME2 and the Valkyrie, the Pirhana looks like the AT-12 Raider with a drum magazine (on top for some reason. One would think that would interfere with trying to aim the damn thing) and maybe a Wraith or Saber barrel, and the Acolyte is literally a scaled down Disciple with the little hand guard thing that all pistols have.

Maybe "gender-swap" (as in "palette swap") would have been clearer.

It's actually closer to Kaidan's or Vega's alternate outfits, right down to the legwear and shoes which is different from what the Cerberus Combat Engineer has. Kaidan's outfit and the Demolisher also has shoulder guards that the Combat Engineer does not have. In a way, the Demolisher is more a genderswapped Kaidan with a helmet.

Not the first time it has happened. The Vorcha model doesn't have guns either.

Indeed. Vorcha and Cerberus Phoenix don't have guns on the class screen.

Never caught that, but then again I could hardly see the pictures in the squad selection screen (more concerned with stat bonuses any way). Although now I'm more inclinded to say that the Kaiden alternate outfit is a slightly altered Combat Engineer (or vice versa) in the same way that the AT-12 Raider, Wraith, Eviscerator and Crusader are all the same gun with slight differences, the Paladin is a modified Carnifex, the Eagle is a modified Phalanx, the Argus is a modified Mattock and etc. (I know the description for weapons reveals why they look alike).

The outfit used by the Phantom is also used by two other models ingame: the From Ash Alternate Outfits used by Liara and Ashley, as seen here:

However, the model used by the Phantom itself has a visible difference: it has two large pods slung over its shoulders that are not present on either Ashley or Liara.

And here's the Shadow for comparison

As you can see, the Shadow doesn't have the shoulder pods that the Phantom has, and thus has more in common with the Alternate Outfits.

Maybe you should take a break from the Internet for a little bit..
I also hope all the characters are Ultra Rares, making it something special to get to team up with them.
(also because i would like to drink the tears of teenage rage that will follow on these forums)

Like the real M16 rifle, M4 carbine and AR-15 rifle are "the same gun with slight differences", and X35 and F22 are "the same jet with slight differences". The similarities have parallels in real world military. Form follows function - if it works, don't fix it (much).Magicman10893 wrote...

Seriously though, there's a great amount of visual designs done for the ME series. Of course some of them will be reused, but weapons still have enough character to be instanty recognizable even if sharing the same frame. Second, similarity of some designs creates familiarity ("oh, this looks like an asari/human-made/turian weapon").
Third, like I said - there's the same thing going on with modern military, so it actually make sense in-universe that a successful weapon design is iterated upon rather than scrapped and built from scratch.
I know there's a tendency for players to demand completely NEW STUFF all the time, complete with skeletons, models and skins, but it's really unfeasible. Even disregarding the cost and time issues on developing completely new stuff... Kaidan's armor is a variant of Systems Alliance light armor - it makes *sense* that the same design used by the Earth military would be used for an N7 engineer, and that Cerberus would use a variant of it as well (given their roots as the Alliance black ops, besides what's good enough for N7 must be good enough for them).

So many N7 weapons, and still no bloody valkyrie. I. Will. Punch. A. Little. Brother.
Still, that machine gun looks like a death-bringer. I'm hoping to see it function as a ME2 Revenant (Awesome damage and brilliant maximum accuracy, but a terrible minimum accuracy). The pistol looks unusually like a Disciple, and the other weapon looks like a M-100... wierd...
As for the classes themselves. I feel a little cheated. All the women get the awesome assassins, all we get is the awesome shield-man. Nonetheless, those are some awesome new combat features and with the addition of a new difficulty, I feel that things will be getting a lot more interesting in the coming days.
I also feel really bad for one specific Bioware member, one who will have his work cut out because of this massive new update. Sorry Eric, I feel for you and your immense platter of balance changes in the future.
