So i decided to play through ME1 before checking out ME3 .

I'm Currently on mission at newton system to investigate the scientists dying.
Once i get to toombs i only have the choise of killing the scientist myself or letting toombs kill the scientist and himself afterwards.
I might be fine with that, but im kind of confused, according to my research i should be able to somehow shoot toombs and arrest the scientist, but i don't get this choise at all.
My sheppard is sole survivor with 3/1 paragon/renegade 8 on intimidate and 4 on charm.

If i suggest we should make the cerburus involvement public toombs just responds that "they'll never let their operation become public"
I then have the choise of letting him shoot the guy or telling him "it doesn't have to be like this, this isn't the only way"  after which he just thinks about it for a second and then says "it is for me" and shoots the guy.

All I can think of is increasing you paragon/renegade skill whichever one you want.
