I like all these ideas, except the human spectre class one. I mean there are only supposed to be two: Shepard and Ashley/Kaidan. Apart from that though, all good.
One question though. How will the heavy weapons be used (the M-490 BlackStorm)?
I do have an idea though that I hope you can incorporate to yours, basically a new game mode.
I’m not sure what it should be called, but basically you need to kill a Reaper.
Some basic info:
- 8 to 12 players.
- The field is long, rather than wide, kind of like the last single player mission when Shepard runs towards the Reaper. There is however more room to move and take cover where you are dropped off, and a bit of cover all along the way towards the Reaper.
- The team is dropped on one end, the Reaper is on the other. Run too far ahead and the player gets killed by the Reaper’s beam. Can be revived by others or use medigel, but will risk others getting killed by the beam too, as well as attacked by incoming enemies.
- Enemies run towards you from the Reaper.
- There are no waves like the traditional MP game mode; it’s continuous, with from the beginning already a full range of the possible reaper enemies to come, from husks to Banshees.
- The ratio of enemies is kept throughout the game, and the same for every difficulty. For example: 30% Husks, 30% Cannibals, 20% Marauders, 6% Ravagers, 7% Brutes, 7% Banshees. This is just an example.
- The difficulty determines the amount of enemies present at once on the battlefield. So while the ratio of enemy types is the same for every difficulty, the total amount of enemies running towards you varies.
- Completing objectives earns you credits, and will revive those who died and did not use medigel or couldn’t be revived in time (since there are no waves). It would be more fun and challenging and set more tension without any auto revives, but if the host dies and leaves the game out of boredom, it will ruin it for everyone else.
- If the host leaves, the team restarts from the last objective.
The scenario:
- Team is dropped off from a small stealthy craft. As soon as the team touches the ground, enemies run towards you from the Reaper.
- After a few minutes comes the first objective. Players have to set up 2 or 4 signal jammers to limit the range of the Reaper’s beam as well as allow other support vehicles to come in later without getting detected by the Reaper. Players had to wait to set up the signal jammers to let the transport vehicle retreat to a safe distance from the jammers.
- After a few minutes comes the second objective: an airdrop comes in to supply charges to set up behind you. Charges are numerous, but very fast to set up. They have to be picked like the retrieve objectives from the traditional MP mode, however. When all are set, charges are blown, making trenches to stop the enemy from attacking support vehicles that will come later.
- After a few minutes, support vehicles unaffected by the jammers come in and take time to set up 2 or 3 turrets (like the ones found in single player) to be controlled by players.
- As soon as turrets are set up, support vehicles start suppressing fire on the Reaper, making it unable to fire the beam, but not doing any real damage. This is to allow players to advance towards the reapers. 2 players can take a turret each to support other advancing players by killing incoming enemies.
- Third and final objective: advancing players must escort a small vehicle carrying a bomb in the same way escort missions are done in the current MP mode. However, only one player needs to be in the hack circle, and the vehicle will follow that player wherever he or she goes, and at the player’s speed. If the player stays in place, so will the bomb. If the player runs, the bomb will follow at that speed. The “escort driver” is whoever steps in the circle first. If the driver dies, then the next live player to step in the circle becomes the driver. Note: still has full extent of the character’s moves (taking cover, dodging, shooting, using powers, etc.)
- Once the escort driver is close enough the bomb is dropped and the players have to go back to the starting point for extraction by the support vehicles. They have a limited time.
As for maps they have to be made specifically for this game mode, so I’m thinking of places where Reapers are invading, like Earth and Palaven.
What do you guys think?
