Is Anora setting you up?

So.  Talking with a fellow Dragon Age-playing friend, and we've come to the conclusion that the entire Freeing-Anora thing is a TRAAAAAP.  Cauthrien shows up literally a minute after you've turned Arl, sorry, *Teryn* Howe into a greasy little roadbump on the floor.  She comes in the front door.  And yet, she somehow knew that you'd killed Howe.  Every guard in the building has mysteriously vanished and been replaced with those elite troops standing at the door.  Was the *entire thing* a ploy to catch the Warden? :?

No, because if you surrender to Ser Cauthrien and say the right things to Anora after you escape, she supports you at the landsmeet. If Anora was setting you up at Howe's estate the objective would be to get rid of you, or discredit you before the landsmeet. If that were the case she wouldn't be supporting you at the landsmeet after you escape.

Anora's overtures towards you are genuine. She only betrays you if you do something that she thinks is not in her best interests. She betrays you in front of Ser Cauthrien if you choose to fight because you are endangering her, and if you tell her you plan to execute her father she'll betray you at the landsmeet.

I'm pretty sure it was a set up. Then once you escape/get rescued from the fort she betrays her father and realizes that the warden is the one who can potentially give her the power she wants. Then she later goes on to betray you AGAIN if you don't give her what she wants. Definitely a shady one, she is.

She TOLD you she could not, under any circumstances be seen as "escaping" as it would put her position and possibly her life in jeopardy. She said it a couple of times.

I went ahead and said "Hey, I'm trying to rescue her" just to see what would happen. When Anora shrieked I was kidnapping her, I mentally congratulated her on her quick thinking.

Anora is power hungry but she is consistent and reliable ally. I put her on the throne first time this playthrough and though I killed her Father she acted genuinely grateful and respectful in the end. I admire her ability to put aside personal feelings for "greater good", something Alistair fails in so very miserably.

There is a lot of people thinking that Loghain lured darkspawn into the tower of Ishal and that Morrigan outwits Flemeth.

I do however think that it is not a trap. Word of a lot of bodies alarmed a guard going to fetch Cauthrien.

I must be the only one who actually likes Anora.

Sure she wants power, but i get the impression she has the best interests of Ferelden at heart.. plus the added stress of basically knowing her father had a hand in the death of her husband.

And you know that Ali playing stupid and loveable is just a cover for his masterplan of taking power and making you sacrifice yourself to the archdemon.

Does anyone know what happens if you win that fight? I am sure it is possible, if insanely difficult.

the whole thing is either a set up or a horrific railroaded event.
fact is that she magically makes a guards uniform appear on her while your party magically looses theirs and that you have no other choice but to go through the front door for some reason while you sneaked in at the back before. she does not care about the fact that you are recognized just to 'rescue' her ... which has consequences of it's own and if you dare to mention to tell the truth when facing ser caurtrien then she'll claim you kidnapped her indeed, giving some story about half of them being loghain's men and half of them being howe's men afterward making her fear for her safety. if you are caught then you get some played guilt scene while if you kill ser cautrien then she snears back at you for even mentioning what happened.

other than that it seems pretty normal for a queen to have wanted criminals 'rescue' her and if you tell her plainly that you do not want to side with her (though you are obliged to 'rescue' her) afterward she's suddenly a big loghain fan who publicly admits how she switched sides after she pretty much confirmed loghain's story. lol

she might have what it takes in politics but i regret the fact that i had no option kill her before she entered the landsmeet lol.

She betrayed me when I freed her, and she betrayed me at the landsmeet. I only wish there was an option to pay her back for her betrayal of the Grey Wardens like I paid back her father.

Nothing. You go directly to Landsmeet and miss on all the naked Fort Drake fun and loot.

She has tactical mind like her father she can fool people very easy with a mind like that and she more aggressive with actions too. Don't let yourself be fooled by these vixens.

... Well Alastair has a horny mind just like his father. Proves my theory.

And Anora does never try to get you to do what she wants by seducing you. She goes with the side that is winning, simple logic.

Well if you think of it that way, Loghain has the best interests of Ferelden at heart too and so does everyone else at the landsmeet.
