I've had a secret crush on David since KOTOR days...I do seem to recall a little wrap-up ficlet he gave us for a Carth + female Revan that cemented my love for him.

...I want to see this ficlet, despite the fact that I've written umpteen gazillion of my own.

Ask Adria...bet she's still got it lying around somewhere....

*reminisces* Ahh, those were the days!  When the KOTOR fanfic was all in one amazing place on the web, and we were products of a more innocent time, and game forums were civilized places!  Heady days, indeed!

Ahem, anyway.  Back to cleaning my house!  Or procrastinating, whichever comes first....

PS: I have read in the forums that it is already your plan to continue Morrigan’s tale. So
please understand this letter as a thank-you letter and an approval of your
work.

While you're still welcome. I've stated no such plans. Image IPB

well, didn't you say something like 'morrigan's tale is not yet told'? which would mean that the tale is still to be told.

if not so, please understand the opening post as 'an offer you can't resist' :)

Absolutely! I have always loved his work but I think this is the first time he has ever written a decent and brilliantly realized romance-able male NPC. On the other hand, David's crush on Morrigan is a tad lamentable though.

I can't really agree about Morrigan, as I'm not terribly fond of her, but kudos on Alistair and thanks for the great game, Mr. Gaider and the rest of the awesome team. Except maybe Priestley. :bandit:

So Mary Kirby is responsible for Sten?

My proudest moment.

I know it probably makes me a bad person, but there are moments when the thought of all the Alistair fangirls and Morrigan fanboys tearing out their hair and rending their shirts pleases me inordinately.

i do remember you mentioning this once too.
no, no, you PROMISED! yeah that was it! You have to do it now, since i CLEARLY remember you promising it!

*starts thinking* nah, you might come up with a much better story even without continuing morrigans story.

i kinda regard Georg Zoeller as a model to follow, ever since i found out he studied at the same place i'm at and now works where i'd love to work. But i guess spending over 60 hours with each playthrough of a bioware game instead of studying or doing something else productive isn't a good basis to get there :P

That puppy is far too cute.

** Edit: I meant the first puppy, not that little psychopath who looks like he belongs on The Dog Whisperer.

And yes, job well done on the emotional anguish/torment/giddiness (depending on the ending I got ).

Well David, your great and I hope that you can bring more from the Morrigan story.

I just hope you guys don't do like Square Soft and make the next one in some other time and other characters.....that is so used up and I really can't stand that kind of game, I like it for once to see where the people I played with are....would love to see where these guys are, hell make it (in game) 5 or 10 years later....not 100 years later or some other world. I wish to god you guys would do for dragon age what you are doing for Mass Effect, but I heard your not so that tells me your going to be like Square Soft and not carry one from a former storyline.......man thats a kick in the nards.

I will say this, just because David has no plans, does not mean it wont happen, he just cant' tell you what they might work on.

Ouch Image IPB.  First, thanks for an exciting, emotionally-involving, *fun* game.

Second, is this what one should expect from Bioware games?  This is the first one I've played: my previous experience has been mostly in mmorpgs.   It boggles my mind why a game developer would write the relationship with the "natural" sidekick to be so ultimately unsatisfying.

Let's be accurate: David said he has no plans. If anyone believes he has no plans for Morrigan because he posted so on the internet, I have a bridge to sell. There are definitely plans of some sort but he's going to lie like a rug because that's how you keep people interested in your future game.

It's much less fun to know what a writer is up to every step of the way anyway. Trust me. Everything changes according to authorial whim and by the time it's over you've read everything so much that you'd rather claw your eyes out than read it one more time. That's no way to play a Bioware game :P

What anyone finds satisfying is going to vary... in this case, if what one requires is their HEA in order to be satisfied then yes, they're going to be unsatisfied. Being satisfied isn't the goal, however. Being emotionally engaged is.

That said, I wouldn't suggest that "Bioware games" are always going to strive to hit the same note. There are lots of different kinds of stories to tell, even in a dark heroic fantasy setting.

Seriously? Aeris? The opera scene and the Celes after the world ends scene in FF 6 were much more moving. That said, Morrigan is an amazing character with depth that is hard to quantify.

Feh. Was this not a David Gaider appreciation thread, I'd be kicking up a storm about Aeris' 'legendary' death. Pfft, yeah, sure. Some ugly guy with white hair and a cheap coat sticks her with an impractically long sword. Right. Very legendary.
