Brilliant game!  Some of the best writing yet.  Emotionally engaging?  Yes, definitely.  That's the first thing that comes to mind about the characters, the plot and all that.

How do you sleep at night?!

Well, after I wipe the one, single tear from my cheek -- shed in anguish at the thought of all the grief I have caused -- eventually pure exhaustion takes me. It's a rough existence, but the booze helps.

You're just jealous you have to put up with Aunt Jamima pancake syrup. If it wasn't for living here in canada for 11 years, I would have missed the joys of maple syrup.. LOL.

Well, maybe some writers do.  I've watched some truly horrible comedies lately.

Yeah, what was with the Road anyway?

Not a single laugh. I left disappointed.

I know!  I kept waiting for someone to get hit in the family jewels, or slip on a banana peel or something.  Put a little effort into it, at least! Cormac McCarthy is such an amateur.

That is because you are watching North American comedy. Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie are exceptions to the heinous crime that is NA comedy. Some of the best stuff comes out of Europe. Allo Allo is still one of my favourite all time Brit Comedies.

Maple syrup is our version of vodka, and just like Russians, we put it on everything. It's also a federal requirement to have a maple tree planted on your property, and it must be tapped at all times to distribute the sticky goodness within. And our milk comes in bags.

Hey I'm all about Canada...you guys get TimTams and Strongbow.

I'd give my left arm to be able to get those down here in San Diego. And I'm left-handed!!!

Agh! This is an adult game, kids crying that it isn't a happy ending are driving me mad. Go play mario borthers or Final Fantasy if you want that. Sad endings are powerful and I much prefer them than the happily ever after nonsense in all my movies, books and games!

To be honest, I don't really know many Final Fantasy endings that are truly happy feel-good times. They're usually bittersweet, if not all out depressing.

The thing I liked the most was when it really felt like key characters responded to my pc's actions and words. Having Howe spit back a retort far better than the one my noble had shouted was brilliant.

'course, I still have a high when I think of the finale at the end of the 'revenge' plot in Drakensang...

.... I still believe there should be the option to kill Morrigan. For the other half of us that don't agree that she is a well developed character, or just simply hate her character in general. 'And it seems only fair since you get the option to do so on nearly all the others that can accompany you....

And I don't mean to shank your opinions, but I can't go without stating my disgust for FF games. They're over-killed with teen drama and everyone in fact has the mentality of a 14 year old. I just don't think you can compare it to a game like Dragon Age. Though both fantasy, they're two very VERY completely different concepts.

It is a wonderfully written letter though, despite that I strongly disagree with it.

Edit: Oh, and I mean that just about the Morrigan character. I love the strong interaction in the game as well.

My proudest moment.

I know it probably makes me a bad person, but there are moments when the thought of all the Alistair fangirls and Morrigan fanboys tearing out their hair and rending their shirts pleases me inordinately.

Really?

Hmm...good to know.

I know what you  mean, to me it seems the writers get off  on making the story have very little good and it's out to make you feel bad at the end and as he said, it's not about making you happy.  .

Yowza-

Um..just to clarify my comment was not meant in the "How could you make me cry, dg!!! :(" vein.,"

It was more in the - "AHA!!! So if we DON'T show any reaction to the next tragic turn of events, WWGD?" [rubs hands together, cackle evilly] vein.

I for one would like to see a loose-end tied up so that the sequel can begin on a clean-slate. Doesn't have to be a happy-ending, just a closure. Leaving the ending as such for the next 1-2 years while the sequel is at work is a torture.....

But I guess David Gaider and his team has us precisely where they want us to be.... an excellent marketing choice, I must add.

I found the Morrigan ending frustrating at first. I wanted to nerdrage and smash small monkeys into paste. However, after a few days, I realized that it fit her character perfectly to be scared of love. That's not to say I don't hope there's some kind of continuation of the storyline for her and the rest of the gang. :)

Also, she's the first character in any game to effect me like this since Viconia. She was my Dark Bloom, and I am hers Forever. (In BG anyway :P )

My first RPG, period, was KOTOR. My husband convinced me to play it. Being a Star Wars geek, I let him. (Had to buy an XBox for it, too.)

We've since bought everything from Jade Empire, to Mass Effect to DA:O. Enjoyed every hour I've played. And I treat RPGS like novels, I tend to play the same thing over and over. I have to say, the characters in DA:O were the most fleshed out I've seen in a very long time out side of a novel. Great job!

I totally agree with OP, choosing my options for all the people of Ferelden was fairly easy and took me 3 secs to choose from the different options. However, I spent maybe 45 secs be4 I clicked on any button while Morrigan was talking so I would make sure i'ld try my best as to have the child and make her stay (which is impossible, sadly). And I was kinda heartbroken for my char when I read the ending saying he never sees her again. So to sum it up, please make an expansion of this. Morrigan is awesome and I wish we had more of this kind of characters around. Thank you for this great game!

I imagine something like this would happen:

Gaider: Huh.  Nobody reacted at all to that romantic self-sacrifice.  What's up with that?
Mary and Sheryl: I guess next time we have to kill the puppy, too.

Just kill the female/male supporting characters. That'll make everyone cry (foul, that is).
