Canadians. Too much maple syrup, that's your problem.
Does it get them drunk, I wonder?

You're just jealous you have to put up with Aunt Jamima pancake syrup. If it wasn't for living here in canada for 11 years, I would have missed the joys of maple syrup.. LOL.

Well, maybe some writers do. I've watched some truly horrible comedies lately.
Not a single laugh. I left disappointed.
I know! I kept waiting for someone to get hit in the family jewels, or slip on a banana peel or something. Put a little effort into it, at least! Cormac McCarthy is such an amateur.
That is because you are watching North American comedy. Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie are exceptions to the heinous crime that is NA comedy. Some of the best stuff comes out of Europe. Allo Allo is still one of my favourite all time Brit Comedies.

Maple syrup is our version of vodka, and just like Russians, we put it on everything. It's also a federal requirement to have a maple tree planted on your property, and it must be tapped at all times to distribute the sticky goodness within. And our milk comes in bags.

Agh! This is an adult game, kids crying that it isn't a happy ending are driving me mad. Go play mario borthers or Final Fantasy if you want that. Sad endings are powerful and I much prefer them than the happily ever after nonsense in all my movies, books and games!
To be honest, I don't really know many Final Fantasy endings that are truly happy feel-good times. They're usually bittersweet, if not all out depressing.

'course, I still have a high when I think of the finale at the end of the 'revenge' plot in Drakensang...

And I don't mean to shank your opinions, but I can't go without stating my disgust for FF games. They're over-killed with teen drama and everyone in fact has the mentality of a 14 year old. I just don't think you can compare it to a game like Dragon Age. Though both fantasy, they're two very VERY completely different concepts.
It is a wonderfully written letter though, despite that I strongly disagree with it.
Edit: Oh, and I mean that just about the Morrigan character. I love the strong interaction in the game as well.

My proudest moment.
I know it probably makes me a bad person, but there are moments when the thought of all the Alistair fangirls and Morrigan fanboys tearing out their hair and rending their shirts pleases me inordinately.
Really?
Hmm...good to know.
I know what you mean, to me it seems the writers get off on making the story have very little good and it's out to make you feel bad at the end and as he said, it's not about making you happy. .

Um..just to clarify my comment was not meant in the "How could you make me cry, dg!!! :(" vein.,"
It was more in the - "AHA!!! So if we DON'T show any reaction to the next tragic turn of events, WWGD?" [rubs hands together, cackle evilly] vein.

But I guess David Gaider and his team has us precisely where they want us to be.... an excellent marketing choice, I must add.

Also, she's the first character in any game to effect me like this since Viconia. She was my Dark Bloom, and I am hers Forever. (In BG anyway

We've since bought everything from Jade Empire, to Mass Effect to DA:O. Enjoyed every hour I've played. And I treat RPGS like novels, I tend to play the same thing over and over. I have to say, the characters in DA:O were the most fleshed out I've seen in a very long time out side of a novel. Great job!

I imagine something like this would happen:
Gaider: Huh. Nobody reacted at all to that romantic self-sacrifice. What's up with that?
Mary and Sheryl: I guess next time we have to kill the puppy, too.
