Want to know a secret?  I've never finished ME3.

I stopped right before TIM's base.  Why?  I got bored at that time.  My Shepard had been reduced to a walking-conversation over hearer with absolutely no social skills.  I planned on finishing the game regardless of my initial disapoint, really I did.  Everything changed in a matter of 30 minutes.  I got out of my gaming chair,  I googled the ending to get some tactics and spoilers (I don't mind spoilers), intent on pressing on....  And that's when I found out.

In the span of minutes, everything I though about Bioware literally flew out the window.  I watched all the endings, read all the reviews....

I didn't pick up the xbox controller again for months.  For some reason, being so disappointed by ME3, left a bad taste in my mouth.  No video game instrested me anymore. Not even Skyrim.  When the EC was announced, I still didn't play.  When the EC was released, I still haven't finished. I YouTubed everything.  I saw the changes, was still disappointed.  It was better... but really, come on.

Remember this?

Yup, can't say that anymore.

I picked up the controller the other day and started playing xbox again for the first time in months.  What did I play?

KOTOR

Ironic.  :-)

I was already fairly cynical, but BioWare was one of the last developers I had total faith in.
I defended DA2 and SWTOR and I stood by them. Then came ME3 and I realised just how far they had fallen.

ME3's ending was so horrifically bad it took me several weeks before I got interested in gaming again, because ME3 flat out killed it. It was such a blow to see my absolute favourite sci-fi universe and one of my most beloved series shredded before my very eyes.

The EC patches a few things, such as, you know, the galaxy being destroyed. But they insisted on keeping setting-killing elements like the spacebaby and with that, lost any respect I ever had for them.

Producing a MMO seems to lower the overall quality/content of (most) other games produced by the company.
Bioware and Blizzard are good examples.

I don't have a view of the "industry". Inasmuch as I really care to think about it.

It's affected my view of BioWare. Time will tell to what extent (but with the name being stretched and pulled in all directions these days, I'm not sure it even matters—what does "BioWare" even mean anymore?).

MP makes me mad.  Maybe even more so than the ending fiasco.

ME is an RPG franchise, everything based on the story and chracters.

Adding MP just rubbed me the wrong way.  Step 1, imo.

That something loved by so many people can be ruined so easily, without even a reason for it.

I agree with DA2 and SWTOR, the goodwill Bioware had was more than enough to look past their faults. I mean i only got into ME1 because it was made by bioware, the company that gave us Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Jade Empire and many more.

Now that goodwill is gone and i view one of my favourite brands with suspicion. It's Bioware, we all know what ME3 could have been if they had put the effort, this for me makes the game twice as worse

The only thing it has changed is my view towards EA. It's not every day that EA releases 4 free DLCs consecutively. Now, if the Leviathan of Dis DLC is free... then something is definitely wrong with EA :P

Just think about the Rage they would be getting if you had to pay for it. That´s only damage control. Their next games will have day 1 DLCs and outfit DLCs again and shortcut DLCs and so on.

It hurts that most of the devs we loved are dying Viseral and Bioware to name some, the last Devs I have faith in are ND ,Sucker punch, insomniac , that gamecompany Justaddwater FromSoftware and the Witcher devs.

Don't trust anything to do with EA.
When an EA game is coming out, never pre-order.
When an MP is added in the last game of a trilogy, you know it's going to be boring.
Never change writers in a trilogy, unless the previous writer was extremely sh!t.
When someone uses the word artistic integrity to explain their game, burn that game instantly.

Made me a smarter buyer, that's for sure. Totally unphased by E3, usually that glorified newscast gets hyped for at least one thing, but now I look at the product, find all the faults, then realized the true intentions. I don't think that's all of a good thing.

I think the real "criminals" here are the gaming journalism sites, they completely failed everyone during this crisis

not to impressed with bioware either :P

Not really. I've always been wary of big-budget AAA titles released by enormous publishers. I've also been pretty wary of video game journalists (The big, well-known names, anyway).

On the other hand, I've never been quite so disappointed as I have with ME3.

ME2 was imo first step to wrong direction. a little step but still. the game is great but things like "mission complete" screens were so much different from somehow fluent gameplay in ME1.

the second step was DA2. while i liked introducing of the wheel and style of ME (VO) and all that action, they clearly reused too many locations and simplified many aspects.

and after so much anger on DA2 forums they did it again with ME3. multiplayer, "i heard you" quests, the damn animations(!!!), most locations created for combat not for exploration etc. i know theres a war outhere but still. the Citadel feels completely different from ME1. the one damn reaper elevator going to all places... an action rpg game with auto-dialog switch?? really??

i prefer the VO than walls of text or the squadmates looking unique from other npcs (ME2,ME3,DA2) and not just wearing armor #34 but its obvious that while BioWare's game are high quality products (with minor glitches here and there) they are just changing their target.

and perhaps this wouldn't be so irritating if they didn't do it in the middle of franchise.

I do not look at the industry the same way anymore. The way I saw respected reviewer just out and out lying. A example a number of reviewers saying that making a new ending set a precedence. NO it is not, Fallout 3 did the same thing . So I don't trust people that us to any more .

Heh... I've never finished ME3 either. Posted Image

I stopped just after Cronos Station then I just lost the motivation to play due to the endings. And not just ME3, I lost the motivation to play anything at all for weeks.
When the EC was announced I thought that I at least had to give it a shot and finish the game. But due to unforseen circumstances i was not able to try out the EC the day it was released so I ended up watching it on youtube on the bus on my way to work. And even though it made the ending "less bad" it wasn't enough to spark my interest to play the game again.

Of the Industry it has not really changed anything... now has this change my opinion of Bioware? Yes... they are joke to me for the most part. They are praised and worshiped for being such great writers but then it comes out the neither Lead Writer on Mass Effect had a skeleton frame work for the series. They can't not handle criticism at all... too me Bioware through out this whole thing acted like a child that has been told it was great all its life by people but just had the rug pulled from under it and its ego busted.  Bioware really needs to sit down and do a complete over haul of is creative teams because they just bad...   DA 2 and ME 3 are clear examples of sloppy work... they had great idea's but they were poorly executed, carelessly put together and seen through to  end and just sloppy careless work. That is a clear sign of not caring about the product you release.

More importantly it has really changed my view on the Video Game "Journalist" because some if not most are the best joke I have ever seen. Anyone can look a Mass Effect 3 and objectively see this game was not deserving of a 10 score and surely not "75 perfect scores*

Agreed, except it's the writers/directors/producers I've lost respect for. I'm sure there are still hard working BioWare employees that had nothing to do with the direction some people decided to take. For instances Merizan, Priestly and other BioWare staff that grace these forums.

I always hated EA though.

Scum in suits.
