Some more details would help... like, how you got the immunity and how you get paralyzed.
If I had to take a guess right now, I'd say you're probably under the effects of some Bigby spell.

it's on a piece of equipment and yeah it's a bigby spell.. so i guess it's a seperate class of paralysis to which i'm not immune.

Are you paralyzed, or knocked down?

Immunity to paralysis doesn't confer immunity to being held, entangled, stunned, confused, etc. Paralysis is a specific type of immobilisation used by some spells. The end results are much the same though.
I too was initially confused when my Red Dragon Disciple kept getting stunned, despite apparent immunity to paralysis.
To avoid being stunned you'd need immunity to mind affecting spells. Freedom of Movement might grant immunity to being held/entangled (although I don't know if it prevents the Bigby's spells).

None of the standard immunities will protect against the Bigby's, including Freedom of Movement. Spell Resistance is your best bet - or being hard to hit - until you find the perfect defense around 33% through the game (MOTB).
