As some of you might know, here in this comunity there are some players ( including me ) who like soloing.

For example I have my own topic where people give me challenges to solo gold, but that's another story...

What we will do here is only based on speculation.

So, how hard do you think it will be to solo platinum?, do you think you will be able to do it?

Besides, also post here what builds would you use for this platinum mode, weapons, powers, characters, etc, remember everything here can be speculation, is just to kill time until release date.

I want something that I won't be capable of handle without a team, and even fail with my most elite team.

I mean, i want something almost imposible, something that really requires full team work, because in an elite team there is not team work, there are only 4 elite players who kill everything in front of them.

I want something that make us camp like noobs

UPDATE:   https://twitter.com/...111717759094784

It seems that soloing "wont" be possible, and that makes me VERY happy.

It seems I will need my elite team to do this....

PS: If you can solo gold, you think you will able to beat platinum?

Or it will be like this?

Oh man...you guys are evil on Platinum....aren't you?

I havent tried it since an earlier iteration, all I know is we beat it once and then they ramped up the difficulty quite a bit before release.

You know, my hat is off to you who want to attempt to solo Platinum. You must either be incredibly foolish, or incredibly brave.

I'll side with Bryan on this though, the victory he had with his group is I believe the only recorded victory so far, and that is well before the difficulty was in its current state. The likelihood of any single person legitimately beating Platinum solo is astronomically unlikely to me.

I'm hoping there's going to be a huge credit output for this.

Bryan is your run on youtube or is it going to be shown at comic con

Nope, I just went to the team responsible for testing it and took over one of their machines and said we were going to try and beat platinum. (I am not even on the team that tests it).

For the record I was a Drell Adept.

When we were testing the main game stuff bronze+silver+gold we used on average about level 7 gold weapons. We now have gear, new match consumables, new classes, balance changes etc. Which has made gold easier for users have been around for awhile. Platinum has taken that stuff into account and then basically built it around that.

Net result Platinum now, will be harder than gold at launch for a large majority

Could you tell us what times you score on average while playing on gold with your tryhard pants on?
I know time isn't necessery an indicator for skill but when I see teams beat gold in <17 minutes without even using one rocket in the whole match or player do solo runs in ~20 minutes, it kinda is hard to imagine what Platin is going to be even when players as this are supposed to have problems.

Right now there are players that simply can beat gold regularly without too much trouble (like me) but there are also those guys that probably can beat gold blindfolded and with their hands tied behind their back...

In any case I'm really curious what it's gonna be like.

I honestly don't time any of the runs I'm in, or remember what my best time is when the whole group is trying to rush through. For the most part I play with people who aren't looking to speedrun anything. I'm sure I've not extracted in under 20 minutes on Gold myself, but low 20s is what I'm thinking I'm at. I could be wrong and it could be a bit longer.

I will say though, that outside of the occasional game with random people, I have not failed to extract on Gold since around the game came out, and with the usual people I play with we usually don't have much any trouble getting to extraction.

Platinum is just hard as nails. But please, wait and see until you can try it for yourself and judge it for yourself. I'm certain there are far more skilled players than myself just itching to get challenged.

So did Blizzard say about inferno difficulty in Diablo 3. But people beat it solo in the first two(?) weeks since release. One beat inferno in hardcore mode. And inferno in D3 is much more difficult and cheap than any other difficulty in any other game. It's even cheaper than Gold Geth. :P

And short of Belial I'm in Act 3 of Inferno myself, as well as a couple of other people here. Do not worry, Platinum is very unkind. :)

I appreciate the answer.
Considering the fact that I tend to score similiar scores with my "N7 MISSILE DAT SWARMERS NOW!!!!!11!1" mates, I'm pretty confident that we'll be challenged to the max.

Maybe one more question:
While testing where you actually truly using teamwork and team "strategies"? For example playing in full biotic squads going all for bio explosions, having a Stasis/sniper combo or just in general actually truly used teamwork?
Most of the time it really is enough to have 4 lone wolfs together that simply all somehow shoot in the enemy direction at the same time.
Even biotics (Adepts) usually detonate their bio explosions themselves, be it a warp+throw or reave+cluster grenade. Due to the small cooldown team never were "forced" to actually "speed up" the procedure for example by having 2 guys only just constantly making the bioplosions ready while 2 others activate them.

In general I just hope that communication and "tactics" will become an absolute must do to have any chance for success. More than just shooting the same enemy and reviving when necessary.
Were your "successful" games true team efforts or was it in all honesty just usuall "ok now all shoot the banshee" teamwork?

We had a 5-10 minute strategy discussion in the lobby, with Eric Fagnan being one of the other players on my squad, on what specific characters/classes to use, what weapon combinations, what gear and power combinations, and what level we figured we could best survive on, along with a bit of discussion prior to starting about where we should be holding out, who goes to do what objective, and teammate pairings for optimal damage output. (keep in mind that we ran with optimal high level character builds, maximized gear and weapons, too)We play with 4 people in the same room, so communication is really fast and easy, and aside from a little bit of joking around, it was a serious, constant communication affair calling out enemies well before they could reach our positions.
Trust me, in the current setup with the gear, and the new character classes, and the new weapons, Platinum is not a difficulty you are going to want to randomly PUG into.

It's not that I can't tell you why it's harder (I think), I just really want you to find out for yourselves. It's much more fun that way. (for me)

EDIT: Forgot to add

Thanks Jon for the answer.
That one truly was exactly the one I hoped to hear. It's the same my mates and I are do...well were doing when gold was "the new land". I just love to work as a true unit, a true team and not just 4 individuals that simply are good at the game.
Kinda makes me hope for the same "atmosphere" while playing for example any PvP game on gamebattles: Constant shoutouts/callouts, 100% concentration and adrenaline pumpin up...love it.

...now if firebase white Geth farming, for whatever reason, will also be no longer possible I think that this will be very interesting.

There is a good chance that Platinum will generate that situation for you. Either that or constant cursing.
If people manage to farm Platinum on Firebase White with any regularity, I will buy a baseball cap, cut a piece off of it and eat it.

I will put an addendum to the earlier thing I said about FBW farming on Platinum, which is that it has to be done legitimately. Rocket glitching or any other form of cheating does not count.

Sir will we be able to get enough credits from one run on platnium for premium spectre packs?

Though I wish I could give you a number (I can't, both because I've never extracted on Platinum myself and because it's something for people to find out for themselves), I will say that the amount of credits is a chunk more than you would get on Gold. Seeing as I recall getting about 72k credits on a successful Gold extraction (could be less if slower on the objectives), and the Premium Spectre packs cost 99k credits a piece, logic dictates that there is a good chance the answer to your question is yes, provided you finish the objective on wave 10. (again, I could be wrong)

I think the multiplayer part of BioWare is in Montreal is it not?  If so it will be poutine and montreal smoked meat on the ball cap brim.

Part of multiplayer is, but I'm in Edmonton, and all of the DLC MP levels, including the new ones in Earth, have been built here. To complicate matters entirely, though, I'm Dutch, so I'll likely just use a Dutch baseball cap recipe.

Also, I'd best start researching edible headwear.

That's not a very healthy diet, now I have to sabotage every team I get to preserve your health and by association skills to continue work on Mass Effect.

Nah, I'll eat part of a hat if people can successfully farm FBW on Platinum.

How much harder than gold can platinum difficulty really be? On gold, almost everything already takes you to shield gate in half a second. If you don't get to cover you are dead the next half/quarter of a second depending on how many health bars you have left. I don't see how getting killed on platinum can be any faster unless they remove shield gate on players.

I think we have shown there is different things people would have never thought about that changes things entirely.

IE. Let's speed up hunters, Atlas should shoot more, or you know hey you are fighting some geth and all of sudden you get a banshee.  Plenty more "fun" we are capable of doing

Since platinum has been soloed now (less than twelve hours from release and without all platforms even having it) have you picked out which flavor of hat yet?

Maybe one with a crow embroidered on it will taste pretty good with a little salt & pepper plus a dash of Frank's Red Hot.

Soloing has nothing to do with what I said. Completing a level on Platinum once isn't farming, either. I want to wait to see random groups farming Platinum on White like we've seen with Gold, but I am looking into a form of edible headwear, should it come to that. Might as well make it a delicious hat while I'm at it.
