Nah, I'll eat part of a hat if people can successfully farm FBW on Platinum.
Challenge accepted.
Also I was wondering if you guys could make it a requirement to have the unwavering achievement to unlock platinum. Really, seeing as I have no friends with it on pc, I'm going to have to PUG it. And I really don't want to be put with randoms with no idea what they are doing.

No matter what I hope Platinum will not be nerfed in anyway no matter how many people complain about it and there will most definetly be nerf platinum threads... but buffs are welcome

Is that the one to get extracted on all the original maps on Gold, or do the N7 missions on Insanity?
Doesn't seem unreasonable. Even if a Plat player was wanting to bring a friend along who was new, it would just mean they would have to take that friend through at least 6 Gold maps before introducing them to Plat. I actually put my Insanity playthrough on hold to make sure that I got it through MP first. Ended up beating the bane of all my maps (Reaper/Reactor) to finally pull it off. Made it that much sweeter to see the Achievement popping up after beating that combo after having lost to it countless times.

And that is one of the points about if someone wants the real deal, they have to prove theyre up for it, i like that
(for me the last was glacier, reactors reaper had been one of my first successfull real gold games, i love that map, damn banshees in my lz taught me to save missiles for extract^^)

"Blocking" a new gametype to peoplethat simply either don't play that often or truly aren't that great is a no go.
Personally I'd like some sort of little "emblem" to the side of the name that shows if you got the achievement or not. Than players can still decide if they want to kick randoms or give them a chance.
An even better thing would some sort of numver you can check that actually shows how many successful (surviving wave 11) platin, gold, silver and bronze games that person had so far.
I assume that those numbers are somewhere saved in a database of BW?

Unwavering is winning gold on the 6 base maps, if one plays gold even only once a day or week, they should have it, when not they should not touch platinum anyways

If there was an emblem to show if you had the achievement or now, how many players would actually want to play with those who don't have it?
If platinum is that much harder, I think anyone who doesn't have it would just be kicked straight away. Honestly, it'd be better to let people be ready for it first then let them join, because really, if you haven't cleared 6 gold games by now, you clearly aren't ready to take on platinum.

Eh, I can see both sides. I don't know that I like the idea of a fixed gatekeeper, even if it does make sense. I probably wasn't "ready" for Gold when I started playing it consistently, but some friendly PuGs showed me the ropes. Had I been mandated to stay on Silver until some particular thing was done, I might have gotten bored and quit the game entirely.

Stop listing extremes(bronze players in plat omg!!!). People are going to try platnium because it is the new toy. They payed for the game they are entitled to playing it how they want. You want guarenteed pro players, go play a private game. If this was a major problem they would gate the tiers anywayAshen Earth wrote...

I can take gold with 1 person on any map if platnium is even harder but no reward do you honestly think you will be able to solo it or with only two people I highly doubt it if their is no form of small incentive then it is less like you will have allies to join you
Obviously there would be less people joining the lobbies, that's the point.
Weeding out the ones who feel entitled to credits. All that would be left are those who want a challenge. It's a better alternative than people who should be on Bronze trying to tackle Platinum for more credits like they try to do on Gold now.

Yes but who's to tell when you're ready or not?
Why not create the same system for silver and gold?
Tanks BW for splitting the players into a "2 class" system....
I believe that this would pretty much be the reaction to it if it's going to happen.
In the end the new gametype is a free addition for every MP player and yet maybe what max. 30% of all REGULAR MP players could actually use it? If you take all the usual SP players the number would probably go down to below 10%.
IMO we can't allow to have any sort of "class system" implemented into the game that will benefit good players and raise them into some sort of "Elite" ranking.
It's free, it's available to all so all should habe the possibility to use it from the start.
Again I'd approve if you'd really have some sort of indicator of the skilllevel of somebody but going that way is the darkside and I know it's tempting but we shouldn't go that path.

You know, my hat is off to you who want to attempt to solo Platinum. You must either be incredibly foolish, or incredibly brave.
I'll side with Bryan on this though, the victory he had with his group is I believe the only recorded victory so far, and that is well before the difficulty was in its current state. The likelihood of any single person legitimately beating Platinum solo is astronomically unlikely to me.
THIS!!! is what I wanted, thanks for that guys, really.
I'm really glad to know that I will experiment true co-op game because until now is like I said before, Gold is not co-op, 4 good players just kill stuff on their own way.
Actually, I haven't used strategy since the first week I have the game.
Really good that scary feeling that all of that will change soon.
And again, THANKS you devs have done a great work, mainly listening to the comunity which is very important, that why you are awesome guys.

I appreciate the answer.
Considering the fact that I tend to score similiar scores with my "N7 MISSILE DAT SWARMERS NOW!!!!!11!1" mates, I'm pretty confident that we'll be challenged to the max.
Maybe one more question:
While testing where you actually truly using teamwork and team "strategies"? For example playing in full biotic squads going all for bio explosions, having a Stasis/sniper combo or just in general actually truly used teamwork?
Most of the time it really is enough to have 4 lone wolfs together that simply all somehow shoot in the enemy direction at the same time.
Even biotics (Adepts) usually detonate their bio explosions themselves, be it a warp+throw or reave+cluster grenade. Due to the small cooldown team never were "forced" to actually "speed up" the procedure for example by having 2 guys only just constantly making the bioplosions ready while 2 others activate them.
In general I just hope that communication and "tactics" will become an absolute must do to have any chance for success. More than just shooting the same enemy and reviving when necessary.
Were your "successful" games true team efforts or was it in all honesty just usuall "ok now all shoot the banshee" teamwork?
We had a 5-10 minute strategy discussion in the lobby, with Eric Fagnan being one of the other players on my squad, on what specific characters/classes to use, what weapon combinations, what gear and power combinations, and what level we figured we could best survive on, along with a bit of discussion prior to starting about where we should be holding out, who goes to do what objective, and teammate pairings for optimal damage output. (keep in mind that we ran with optimal high level character builds, maximized gear and weapons, too)We play with 4 people in the same room, so communication is really fast and easy, and aside from a little bit of joking around, it was a serious, constant communication affair calling out enemies well before they could reach our positions.
Trust me, in the current setup with the gear, and the new character classes, and the new weapons, Platinum is not a difficulty you are going to want to randomly PUG into.
Will they ever buff the Fagnan?

How much harder than gold can platinum difficulty really be? On gold, almost everything already takes you to shield gate in half a second. If you don't get to cover you are dead the next half/quarter of a second depending on how many health bars you have left. I don't see how getting killed on platinum can be any faster unless they remove shield gate on players.

Edit: Rather, Hunters move faster on Gold than easier difficulties, while cloaked.
