I love minigames, lute playing, pie making, lockpicking, planet scanning - I say bring them on!  It just makes a nice change from hitting things.  Seriously, my favourite part of Skyrim is the lock picking minigame....I might have a problem.  Image IPB

OK  I like doing the lockpicking.  A lot.  Really didn't mind planet scanning except it made me sleepy.  Pie making, lute playing I got paid for this, though not much cause I'm not very good.  But since it was optional and I got paid and people clapped I did it a few times.  :)

He, he....Fable.  My favourite tactic for the last Fable was to by up every piece of real estate available in the game and then essentially buy the good ending out of personal funds........and I owe it all to a willingness to play the lute minigame obsessively for days on end!!!  Image IPB

I pretty much did this too.  Then I'd spend a lot of time keeping the houses from depreciating.

Ok, you're officially as crazy as I am.....but only if you decorated the rental properties manually. That rug placement was the pits!

Nug racing might be fun. You buy a nug, develop it via say an NPC at your player home who offers to feed, train, praise or punish and then race it. Sort of like mini side game using Nugs that can involve character or creature development based on temperament and treatment of it by your character. You had sort of thing in ME with Varrens on tuchanka only with Nugs using actual deeper systems can be greatly improved as a feature. Could be an MP feature, not that I advocate for MP in DA but could work with that gameplay element as compete with other people using your Nugs you bred.

Pokemon fight, these would just race. Fight type was done in ME2 with Varrens.

I'm just saying I could see how it might work if was ever such thing added based on the other persons idea.

Gambling? There has to be some form of it in Thedas.

Maybe a drinking minigame?

DA2 mentions Wicked Grace, which I gather is a card game similar to Blackjack or Poker, but it's not discussed in much detail. It would be fun to play that.

Dungeon puzzles aren't really minigames, but I'd love a lot more of those.

DA:O and DA2 both suffer from severly lackluster crafting systems, they could stand to make it more engaging.

Joke Suggestion: Turn sex scenes into quicktime events.

Action minigame: Grand Tournament

Puzzle minigame: Going into the Fade to conquer a mysterious and powerful spirit's (most likely a spirit of wisdom) domain.

Dialouge minigame: Orlaisian nobles' ballroom parties

No thanks. I think I've had my fill of minigames like lockpicking, hacking, bypassing, planet scanning, etc (and fetch quests, but that's for another discussion).

I could probably do the Tower of Hanoi in my sleep by now.

Also, no QTEs. I'd rather just watch the cutscene or animation.

I agree 100% with all of this.

If I never see another Tower of Hanoi puzzle as long a I live, I'll die a happy man.

I guess the Fade could be used as place to hunt monsters like bounty hunting jobs to raise money if you don't have enough for something want. I think personally bounty hunting monsters, malificars or apostates would be good idea because so often in the games it is not till the end of the game you have just about enough for some of the better store items and by that point there is very little point in buying them because your so close to end of game itself you would only use it for like 15 to 30 minutes. DA2 as prime example by time reached end of the game if saved up all way through, you could still only just afford few peices of nice items being sold out of the dozens and you have no more sources of income by then. Another source of income mini game per se would be akin to the dwarven coliseum which had in Dragon Age Origins.

However I want to see if people will list more than just minigames, I also want to see peoples ideas about tricks, traps and puzzles. I like examples from titles like Myst, Silent Hill, Broken Sword, 7th Guest even past Bioware titles. The kind with multiple ways to complete and consequences to getting them wrong but not stopping you from trying again so can get past it or picking another way to bypass like I mentioned earlier with choose own adventure book example of such situations. Both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 plus DLC and expansions had such puzzles already so DA3 without shadow of doubt will have them too -but would be good improving them, that is what I want to hear ways to do that.

Fable had chicken races.

Really, as long as I don't  have to do it, they can have any game the want in it.

Nope. Because the development time and resources that they use to make that minigame could have been better spent on more dialogue, better art, more quests, etc. I'd rather they just focus on the core game experience.

i thought the puzzle from Legacy was excellent, apart from even the magic doors and the pillars were fun to, didnt have to much trouble with that, and it looks like MotA had even more great puzzles, please Bioware more efficient puzzles!!

Card games, hell even Square's used them. Get people to collect rare cards around the world and challenge NPCs to cards, it must be fun (it's only fun if you have the best cards...)

How come sidequests count as "core game experience" and mini-games do not? Sidequests, by their vey nature, are not part of the core game.

no puzzles. If any mini games, drinking games, dancing games, card, dice, wanted posters, etc, but no puzzles. Puzzles outside puzzle games are often annoying and not fun. I like puzzles in puzzle games or Tomb Raider and Uncharted. Outside those games, it VERY rare that its FUN and not just a time waster to pad gameplay hrs...

If by minigame it means QTE, I'd rather say NO !!!
