What about bringing a knife and a gun to a gunfight?

What if your knife is a gun, which is also a sword and a blunderbuss?

I'm sorry, I am having trouble reconciling the terms "generic" and "N7 operative."  It just doesn't parse.

Then I would say you're probably playing Final Fantasy.

Well infiltrators and vanguards are close quarter combatants so them having swords would make sense

There has been nothing suggesting Infiltrators are "close quarter combatants".

They can be, certainly, but there's a reason Tactical Cloak gives a bonus to sniper rifles and not swords.

Vanguards, as close quarter combatants, utilize their powers primarily. It's why we saw the human Vanguards using the "Nova" power.

Well TC gives greater benefit to melee than it does to sniper rifles.  It's evolution 5.

Common misconception that "close quarters combat" is the same as "melee".

Obviously you never done stealth take down with your infiltraitor before then

Have you played this game?

Anyone can do "takedowns"--if you're applying to Grabs(which is arguably the only thing which would apply here).

Outside of that, Tactical Cloak is not a true "stealth" tool.
It's a tool for disruption and misdirection.

Sure it does.

Even in special operations, you'll see a measure of uniformity in their equipment and garb.

It's only when dealing with special operations on lengthy assignments or mission specific objectives that you'll see the more "out there" concepts.

Shadow Strike.

And real world tactics need not apply to the mass effect universe with its space magic and all that jazz.

That is all.

Another good reason after the alliance has seen the cerberus phantoms they would want to get their own or find a way to utilize their tech or training another good possible reason

That's the conclusion I came to. We also have Cerberus defectors(Who would share info on tech)

Cerberus' operations were not interlinked. The individuals which Jacob was guarding are proof enough of that, saying that they only had "one piece of the puzzle" but managed to put it all together when they started stealing information on the other projects.

As for the Phoenix Adepts:
Soldiers don't have the same technological knowledge of creating their equipment that the scientists who develop it do. They use two different skill sets, soldiers need to know how to operate and feasibly maintain it but the actual production is different.

and I think one of the operation's flavour text mentioned we captured a few Phantoms. They wouldn't talk, but we could study their equipment.

and once you make this fancy new tech, who better to field it for the first time than your most elite operatives?

We captured a few Nemesis, per the SP campaign.

Their heads exploded due to flashbangs implanted within their goggles.

Yeah, wouldn't be hard for the Alliance to round up all the Cerberus troops who'd used their Ocular Flashbangs on themselves. They wouldn't need the actual people, just all their gear. And with the fabrication technology that is available at the time, it'd be easy to mass-produce the tech for the N7 operatives.

Certainly.

But again, why would the Alliance need to replicate and mass-produce the tech?

That's what bothers me. Why in the world was it necessary to introduce this?
It just feels too much like pandering to the people who said "Ooh! Ooh! I want to play as a Phantom! And Kai Leng! And KASUMI!".

Ah and here we go with the e-peen stroking, a phenomenon that crosses gender lines, apparently.

Reason 1 Was cerberus not originally part of a black ops group that did work for the alliance so wouldn't it make sense that the alliance has their own phantoms

Cerberus developed the Phantoms well after they split with the Alliance.

Reason 2 Their are new ex cerberus forces fighting with the alliance or probably joining the alliance so the incorporation to have a alliance phantom for shadow doesn't seem like a bad idea

Cerberus defectors never had implants. Phantoms use the Reaper-tech implants.

"Reverse engineered" what?

You can't "reverse engineer" a person. You can reverse engineer their equipment and you can mimic their tactics, but then you're just creating a faux Phantom.

and and th ex cerberus agents probably know something about it

Ask your average soldier to explain to you how to manufacture their standard issue rifle.

All Cerberus recruits undergo "integration" process, even their cannon fodder centurions and assault troopers. Phantoms are their elite soldiers and thus all are indoctrinated. They're not humans anymore as we see on Mars and Surkesh. You can't recruit or make cerberus soldiers turncoats. So Alliance phantoms are BS and break the lore.
But so do vorcha sentinels.

You can reverse engineer the armour or equipment that a dead phantom has and you can study the reaper implants and make a alternate variation ofit you really talk smack for thinking you know every little thing lol ^_^

Let's be fair here.

The only reason Vorcha "Sentinels" are labeled as such is because of Cluster Grenades (a biotic ability) and Bloodlust(an "always on" power much like Tech Armor/Blade Armor).

They wouldn't fit anywhere other than Soldier.

well will agree to disagree their are alot of possible ways that the alliance can make fighters similar to the phantoms but I'm not going to argue with you since your mind is already made up
