While 'unrealistic', the 'armors' in game aren't as revealing as other RPGs (I mean, other than the Desire demon and Morrigan, nothing immediately comes to mind as being 'too bare' or something like that).
Personally, I prefer more 'conservative' attire: I actually like those Prussian-style uniforms that cover practically everything, save for the head. More leather 'armor' of that sort would be nice, methinks.
www.farscapecaps.com/120/images/120_cap300.jpg - see? not so 'form fitting' but still nice. :wizard:
(oh, and I'm still waiting for a Pulse Rifle mod :P )

Oddly (for me, anyway) tho', I haven't played a female 'toon in this game yet. (I usually do, for RPGs. heck, my last saved game awaiting ME2 is a FemShep)

With the exception of the Dalish leather, which does look way out of place in the game, the leather female armors are rather realistically designed. Sure, there was some artistic license taken in exposing the neck and chest, but my tank is also running around with a metal axe that is constantly on fire, so I can chalk it up to willing suspension of disbelief. Especially since the heavy armors that exist in this game are far from realistic (ornate ceremonial armors should have worse stats than the boring ones if they were realistic), and the whole look is far from exploitative. If you really want to rally against exploitative unrealistic protection, go yell at Final Fantasy's idea of indestructible being a 15 year-old girl in half-skirt, and thong bikini.

How about wearing metal plate mail with a sparkling sword full of electrical charges at your back?
Realism is simply out of the question heh

Ne ways personally I prefer the way things look ingame already. They've already done enough work on the female armors to make it balanced between visual appeal and being practical. And ask any woman who has ever worn chainmail in her life -> that flattens anything!

In DA, u folks are already blessed!

which is why I am saying... you get a setting with monsters, elves, dragons, undead, etc... and you want realistic (but ugly) armor?....

I don't really see the need for more covering for leather armor for females, however almost all the leather and cloth armor in this game looks horrible, all the staffs look like my mage just picked up the closest available stick on the ground to do battle with or some retarded metal pole type thing, about the only staff I like are the enchanters staff. A staff is supposed to be a damn staff not an enchanted twig.

Also why do all the mage/cloth hats look completely stupid? Whats wrong with mage hoods like the one my Avatar happens to be wearing? Just make a set of red robes and my character stops looking completely stupid, its not like the tranquil couldn't be crafting better magic robes/hoods and staffs for the mages along with making runes.

It would be great to see more rogue armor that didn't all look horrible and the same as well, as far as more coverage for the women though... nah they don't need it, to be completely honest leather armor isn't going to do much anyways.

If you want to compare in game combat to a real fight, a sword is still going through your stomach regardless if you got a piece of leather covering it or not, you mind as well look like a sexy heroine.

People should be able to choose if they wanna look formal, informal, or inbetween. Choice is good. (Can use more variety as well.)

I think www.gamershell.com/static/boxart/large/uk/340.jpg would be more proper. That's mostly proper leather, right?

If female armor has the funbags popping out then male armor should have the ****** dangling. It's only fair.

not in the armor... but what's under. Usually in olden breeches, there are always allowance for "nutsacks"

I wouldnt mind the bare midriff if it looked a little better looks like she wearing a U2 shirt circa 95 under the armour, call me an opportunist but i would rather see more variety in leather armour for male and female than covering up the current one :)

I play a guy who wears a dress. And fights people by throwing sparklies at them. And i like it.

I'm really not sure why some women expect any different from games than what we are getting. Realism was never one of the selling points for DA. Just dark and edgy.

You don't want realistic. You don't want to look at balding, pot bellied male main characters with a bad rash whose animations consist of 50% scratching his ass or his crotch.

You have your washboard stomach male heroes. Let us have the skimply dressed playboy models.

No.

Armor Bikini >> Plate Armor. Oh, and in fact, if I could, I'd make all leather female boots invisible. Because fantasy girls should always be barefoot, and almost always naked.

If you are female and don't like the above statement, get back in  the kitchen.

You do.  She's called Morrigan.

I find it really annoying that male gamers presume to tell female gamers what we can and can't have.  This is *my* PC I'm talking about, not some adolescent male gamer's version of fantasy pr0n girl.  What I am hearing from many women on the Social is that we want our characters to look like they are actually there to fight, not like they are there to provide pleasing visuals for the male characters.  I fail to understand why we aren't entitled to this.  I don't think any of us are suggesting that we want everything in the game to be 100% realistic.  Rather, we are asking to be able to create PC who don't look like she's going to go pose for a spread in Playboy just as soon as she finishes off the mean, nasty ogre that's attacking her.

Saying that, gives me gas which I end up uncontrollably farting out the next day at work. No way.

Then do you agree or disagree that the current female armors are sufficient?

Lookin rather dark today. Almost... black.
I LIKE how my Little Miss Badass with the pigtails and cute outfit carves up the badguys. Even named her Fabiola.

And again, this game is not about realism. Not until you get rid of the dress wearing guys who throw lights at the bad guys. And most of the bad guys.

Hmm... Morrigan does not start with an armor... she wears robes most of the time. Traditionally armor hinders a mage's movement, thus rendering him/her unable to cast certain spells. That's the D&D logic...

As for leather armor... I thought the regular armor that I place on Leliana covered almost all of her... well except the neck, but the same goes for the males as well....

If you guys want to custom your armor, get to know how to use the toolset provided.

Frankly, if a female can wear half the armor, get all the protection and still looks like she can do crowd-control just by standing there... heck why not?!

Amen to you, SweetiePea! Trust me, gentlemen, there will always be plenty of busty, waifish, promiscuous, or ditzy female avatars in a game. You don't have to worry about developers taking away your digital cleavage. Why can't there also be a wide selection of empowering, intelligent, tastefully-designed characters? What possible problem could there be with having options for realistic-looking characters alongside the fantasy creatures?

This thread is not about more options. This thread is a complaint about the armors as-is. Go read the op if you need a reminder. That is the problem.

Even if the OP wants realistic female armor, a lot of others would complain about flattened out breasts no matter what size.

My point is that it's already perfectly balanced between visual appeal and practicability to appease many in both sides of the argument.
