@ Tirronan: Ya ever read the Sword of Truth books? I happen to be a fan of em and Legend of the Seeker totally botched nearly everything they possibly could have. Not to say it's a bad show but they could have at least read the books they were making a TV series about. Since this is the wrong place for it, I won't rage on about the many things I noticed that were out of place.

As a side note, I think the ladies here deserve a Conan-style set of armor for their manly companions so they can have something to oggle too.

It's bad leather armor design, makes me want to yell, "I am Sparticus!!" so, I'd kindly like you to place blame where it is proper. And not on your male gaming compatriots who like the skimpy look and had nothing to do with this leather armor. I mean, we're guys...the sexier the better!

Except that the Spartans wore heavy bronze armor (breastplate, greaves and helmet).  The reason they lasted at Thermopylae was because they used heavy armor, the persians didn't and they held a position where the persian cavalry couldn't flank them.  That the Persian commanders had all the tactical savy of an inebriated invertebrate didn't help either.

Female warriors being exceedingly rare on the whole, if you're looking for female leather armor, the armor worn by  female roman gladiators is about the only model you're going to find.  That armor was designed to titilate more than protect, so I suppose the armor you have now is realistic.

I have a solution.

Those who say that it's fantasy, and so scantly clad female warriors are all right, can keep their halfnaked characters. As long as there is also a very revealing and sexy armour for MALES.

If that was the case, I'd be fine with the scantly clad female warriors. I'm not bothered by cheesy chainmail bikinis on pretty ladies; I only want them to be countered by big guys wearing only a fur skirt (à la Conan).

Anyway, I didn't find the clothes in DA O to be particularly offensive. They were all very tame, even the most revealing ones (except for Morrigan and the various desire demons, but it suited them).

As a guy, I am far from immune to the female body in suggestive attire. However, in my games, whenever I have a female front-line warrior on hand, I always want her to be in cover-up armour. I am especially partial to warrior girls kicking butt while wearing full plate.

That said, I do dislike DA:O's leather armour which reveals way too much of the female chest. I would stuff my female rogues in medium armour except the strength requirement is insane compared to the minimal bonuses gained from going light to medium armour.

Personally, I don't mind chainmail bikinis and other same kind of clothing at all. As long as

a) their armor rating is something like 0.01

B) there is more realistic alternative

... and so, like so many threads, this one arrives at its inevitable destination:
enchanted codpieces.

I agree. But while more covering, it should also be sexier... :D hip-hugging.

I thought the armor models in DA were okay. As long as they don't turn to Aion-style stuff, I don't mind. And nope, I totally didn't play a female elf rogue in light armor on one of my plays, not at all!

What I don't get is why you people reckon something is wrong with the current armor models, for example, in my opinion.

Leather armor = Both men and women in skirts, but with women less protected with dalish leather too. Not very good protection, well hey, it's leather armor.

Medium armor = Armor covers both men and women from neck down, no exposure.

Heavy armor = Armor covers both men and women from neck down, no exposure.

Massive armor = Armor covers both men and women from neck down, no exposure. Female models are a bit weird however

Helmets = Helmets on women look weird.

Which of these would you like to change exactly?

Meh, the Maker could care less how we dress ourselves, I think he's more interested in the undressing part.

Re: Seeker TV
That was disappointing. I couldn't even finish the 1st season. The Mord'sith were nice looking, tho'. (Denna...rawr! )

Re: Conan
Do you mean the 'Conan the Barbarian' movie? As a dude, I wouldn't mind my PC looking like Arnold's take on REH's protagonist, so I'd vote for that, too. :o
http://www.scheerstu...onan/Conan9.gif - one of my favourite depictions of Conan. It's not as cool as the movie version, but, I think, it captures the feel of the original character better.

Denna? *automatic drooling sequence activated.*

There's a few different versions of Conan, most recent I can think of is the game they made (fun, but short.) and his armor I think was more true to his comic book appearance. I liked that armor, the "armor" (maybe fur undies would be better) that Arnold wore would be farther focused towards the ladies...but he still kicked ass in his undies.

The males in light armor don't have their neck and upper chest exposed. All light armors on females leave that unprotected. The males in Dalish armor don't have their midriff exposed. The medium, heavy and massive armors are fine in my opinion. It's only the light leathers that are the problem, which is why I can't take my rogue seriously.

The cloth robes can be revealing because they aren't meant for protection (they give 0 armor). They're meant to be non-restricting. I think the chasind robes look silly (anyone else think the breasts look too high up on those), but there are other robe designs that are fine.

Hmmm... well I guess you don't really have a choice but to upgrade to medium armor at least. This actually explains my wife's characters wore medium/heavy armor as a DW rogue or 2H warrior eventually, it looked more practical and "badass" I guess (or maybe she just liked the shine). Her 2handed warrior interesting wore medium armor - Varathorn's armor with silverite scale.

I doubt modders would take the time to skin leather armor though unfortunately. =/
So you might just have to go one step up.

The female leather armor would have looked better if they had covered up the neck and upper chest area. Also, they should have had more than twig arms. And a better looking belly, like the Chasind robe shape rather than a flabby looking belly.

edit:  Tight form fitting leather is hot, less isn't always more on females. The twig arms on the female leather armor bugs the hell out of me, so I only use medium and up on them.

Actually, compared to most games, DA isn't really that bad...

But I do have to agree. I mean, seeing Lelianna with her weird Dalish midriff thingy really isn't that bad, but you do have to wonder...why don't the Darkspawn just stick her right there? Seems like an easy enough way to kill a rogue to me. Then again, rogues are meant to avoid hits...but still...

And I know you're going to say this is fantasy game, blah blah blah, there are mages and fireballs and demons and whatever else. But there's magical reality, and physical reality: In a fantasy universe, you allow some impossible things to happen: Magic, dragons, monsters, etc. However, fantasy also has to conform to physical reality: That is, it must obey simple universal laws like: Time moves from the past, to the present, to the future. Or: If a thing goes up, it will eventually come down. Or this one: If a woman is wearing next to no clothing, with her top non-existent and her midriff out and open to the air, she will NOT have a higher armor rating than someone in heavy plate. Also, may God have mercy on her soul, because she'll probably either get stabbed through the gut and not survive because she wasn't wearing anything there, or she'll get mobbed and raped by a bunch of slavering men.

Anyways. So, basically, I agree with Sarevok.

I have on DVD Xena:Warrior Princess, so I am guilty of liking rogue armor and believing that they can wear them into battle. Yee! Yee! Yee! Yee! Yee! Yee! Ya!
