I am being trashed by the Revenant in Redcliffe castle. I open the gate but none of the 4 knights come to help me. Can it be because they died in the earlier battle? I hear the cry "to arms!" when the gate opens, but no knight comes.

So the Revenant destroys my team each and every time (levels 8-9, Morrigan, the hound, Alistair and my rogue character).

Ditch the hound and get Lel. Unless you're doing really good dps, switch your rogue to ranged. Revenants hit hard and can target multiple melee enemies at once, so it's best to shoot from range. Morrigan will probably deal the greatest damage per hit with spells, lightning I believe is a good one.

You are early level for this. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. But is it normal for the knights not to come, I mean can it happen or is it a bug in my game?

Well yes...if they died earlier in the battle they won't come. What were you expecting?

If they're dead, then they won't come. 'cause, you know, they're busy. Being corpses.

if the knights were killed during the redcliffe assault then yes they won't be there to help you.

freeze or forcefield him and take care of the skeletons. if you don't have anyone strong enough keep up in melee. make the agro guy run while you shot the revenant.

get use to them, you will kill plenty of them in the game if you want todo everything before finishing.

Oh, and you can sometimes pull a lot of the skeletons individually, definitely the archers.  Move forward a little and the archers will start shooting, if you run back under the wall and hide behind the tree they will come down into the courtyard and run right up to you.  Dispose of them first and things will be easier.

Hey guys, I wasn't sure the knights who are supposed to come were the same as the dead knights from the battle. There are alive knights near the windmill, actually.

I guess they're the lazy kind.

And anyway, if they're dead, then I wonder who the hell is shouting "To arms!". I guess it's a scream from the underworld.

I will try out some of these tactics, I have no freeze or forcefield strong enough to stop him though.

Dont worry about it...several times lve saved all the Knights and Ser Perth...and yet they dont appear to come thru the gate for the battle[Ps3 version].

I assume its a wonderous bug.

Argh, at that level you're in for a hard fight. Thankfully, that revenant is less powerful then the others. Try not to get him surrounded, his most deadly ability is double strike.

For later, the best spell against melee bosses like revenants (and revenants are insanely strong)... is misdirection hex, get it ASAP.

It was fairly easy for me to do this without the knights.  I'm a Dagger/Dagger Cunning Rogue, and at the time I was grouped with Morrigan, Alistair and Shale.

I killed each of the Archers atop the stairs with Morrigan while popping Health Poultices.  Alternatively, you could move back in the nook beside the stairs, forcing the archers to run down.  Next, I healed up and pulled the Revenant's buddies and took them out in the same nook.   Lastly, I pulled the Revenant and brought him down, with Alistair and Shale tanking.

Be sure to keep your other party members in place (by pressing "H") while you ping the archers with Morrigan, and don't move too close to the Revenant when you draw his buddies.  Forcefield on the tank and freeze spells against the Revenant are your friends.  I had Alistair tank until his health got low, then cast Forcefield on him.  If Shale took the enemy's hate, he was able to hold up via Health Poultices until Alistair was free, and then I used the same method.

I may have had a death, can't remember, but the fight was surprisingly easy once I took out the extra goons.

Yes, I think I've talked to everybody just outside the mill. I'll double check, but I don't think I've missed anyone.

Yes I had talked to everybody, I guess it's a bug or the defending knights are actually among the dead.

Anyway, I did it. Thanks for your help. I didn't change the party, and it wasn't so hard following some of your tips. I lured Revvie's little helpers one by one behind the stairs, where we took care of them. Then the Revenant came but he was alone against four and died quite fast. I had Morrigan die on me, but oh well, I'll just cure her malady.

Anyway I was sorely disappointed by the loot, all the Revenant gave me was just a little money, less than some thugs I've fought...

Once you have massive armor you can handle them easily with a tank and a healer. Prior to that, switch everyone to range and spread out. When it pulls you over to him take control of that character and run away. Just keep switching characters as the Rev changes targets and keep your distance and you'll take him out. Have some potions handy though, you might need 5 or 6 of them.

For magic, once again frost magic is king.

The knights help you? Sheesh... I opened the gate after I killed the bloody thing.

Hah, I always do that. To keep the NPCs alive, and to keep all the XP to myself. (They do steal XP, even Waking Nightmare denies you XP.)

In my case I open it, but nobody comes. Which means the knights are either very lazy or very dead or very buggy.

Mana Clash always got resisted for me.

I had no problem to pull ALL of the adds except one with carefully stepping forward and running backward the moment someone came for me.

After that, the Rev was only trivial.

I was already level 12 though, and I had Wynne and my own HC for heals.
