The particle rifle is a nice weapon. You just need to know how to use it.
Could you then please specify how to use it properly? I've only seen it in game once, used by a player I've been playing with for quite some time, so I know what to expect (and that is quite a lot). Let's just say it was a disaster.
I mean I don't want to be too quick with my judgement here, but almost everything I've seen, read or heard about it so far indicates this gun is nowhere near being an N7.
You need to fire for about 50 rounds for the weapon to start doing maximun damage. And it doesn't take that long to reach 50. Specially with the ammo extension mod, which gives you a 180 clip size.
After that is reached, at least in silver, things will go down quickly. The only downside, however, is that you need to hold the fire. A lot of people think that's being exposed to fire for too long, but the solution to that is quite simple: Be aware of your surrounding, take cover, and keep your distance.
The weapon has perfect accuracy, so holding the beam in one spot is a piece of cake.
Do not let the clip reach zero. the reloading animation is VERY crippling, it's better to let it recharge when you're nearing single digits. I have no problems doing this, it comes instinctively to me, but maybe not everybody can do it.
If fast moving small enemies get close to you, like Nemesis and husks, use your powers to stagger them and keep your distance. It's hard to keep the beam on them for long, since they are so small.
I have only tried it on silver so far, with human and turian soldiers, Krogan sentinel, and human dna male quarian engineers. The weapon is a bit heavy, but I was still able to use powers consistently.
I would record a video or something, if I had a camera and a tripod. But I don't have them, so unless you want to add me on xbox and invite me to a match, I won't be able to show how I use the weapon.
